USER MANUAL PCEK 1139 PROFICOOK
- The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not t for commercial use.
- Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
- When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
- Do not operate the appliance without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the appliance off. Remove the plug from the socket.
- The appliance and the mains lead have to be checked regularly for signs of damage. If damage is found the ap- pliance must not be used.
- Use only original spare parts.
- In order to ensure your children’s safety, please keep all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene etc.) out of their reach.
Do not allow small children to play with the foil. There is a danger of suffocation! Special Safety Instructions for this Appliance You will nd the following symbol with warning character on the appli- ance:
Risk of scalding! Hot steam will escape from the steam vents and when opening the cover!

- Use the handles to grip the cover and egg holder.
- Even after use the surface of the heating element still has residual heat.
WARNING: Danger of injury!
Please be careful when handling the measuring beaker. It includes an egg pricker on the bottom. Avoid injuries from the egg pricker. CAUTION:
- Please ensure that the cable does not come into contact with the hot parts of the appliance.
- Never turn on the egg cooker on without water.
- Use only cold water when lling.
- Do not allow decalcication agents to come into contact with the hot plate.
- Use the appliance only on a level work surface.
- Do not move the appliance and do not touch it when it is working.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the safe use of the appliance understand the hazards involved.
- Cleaning and maintenance by the user shall not be made by chil- dren unless they are older 8 years and supervised.
- Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
- Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.34 PC-EK1139_IM 09.02.17
- Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- Only use the appliance in a dry, indoor area. It is intended for do- mestic use and similar areas of use such as e.g.: - In staff kitchens in shops, ofces and other commercial areas. It is not intended for use in farm accommodation, hotels, motels or Bed & Breakfast establishments. CAUTION: This appliance is not intended to be immersed in water during cleaning. Refer to the instructions provided in chapter “Cleaning and Storage”. 1. Take out all the parts carefully out of the packing.
2. Remove all packaging material such as plastic lms, ller
material, cable ties and cardboard.
3. Check the delivery scope for completeness.
4. Check the appliance for any transport damage in order to
prevent hazards. NOTE:
- If there are any visible signs of transport damage, contact your dealer immediately. Do not operate a damaged appliance!
- There is a cover on top of the needle on the bot- tom of the measuring cup for protection. To prevent injuries, we recommend that you reinstall the cover after use.
5. Clean the appliance before using it for the rst time as
described in “Cleaning and Storage”. Instructions for Use
- The appliance is suitable for preparing: - 1 - 8 boiled eggs; - 1 - 3 poached eggs; - Savory egg custard; - 1 - 3 small omelettes.
- The water quantity lled into the cooking bowl controls the cooking time.
- Use the measuring cup included in the scope of delivery to determine the water quantity.35 PC-EK1139_IM 09.02.17 Explanation of Symbols Soft-boiled eggs Soft to medium-boiled eggs Hardboiled eggs Please refer to the scale next to the egg symbols for the number of eggs to be boiled. The scale reects average amounts for medium-sized eggs. The hardness of the boiled eggs depends on different factors: size and temperature of the eggs. With some experience you will quickly nd your preferred settings. NOTE: If the eggs are too hard, please pour slightly less water than stated in the cooking bowl, or slightly more if the eggs are too soft. Using the Omelette / Poaching Insert
- Determine the amount of water according to the scale labeled
- Slightly grease the recesses with butter or margarine to be able to remove the boiled egg more easily.
- Do not ll in more than one cracked egg per recess.
- Place the omelette / poaching insert on the egg holder. NOTE: Always let the savoury egg custard cool down before cutting it into cubes. Electric Connection Ensure that your mains power corresponds to the appliance’s specications on the type label. Operation
1. Set the on / off switch to the “0” (off) position.
2. Place the appliance horizontally on a at, dry surface. It
should be slip-resistant and heat-resistant.
3. Fill the cooking bowl with the amount of water signalled on
the measuring beaker for the number of eggs to be boiled.
4. Install the egg holder.
5. Pierce the eggs on their blunt side in order for the eggs
not to crack during cooking. In order to do so, use the egg pricker on the bottom of the measuring cup.
6. Place the eggs into the egg holder with the pricked end
7. Attach the cover.
8. Insert the plug in a duly installed socket.
9. Turn the appliance on using the on/off switch. The control
lamp now illuminates.
10. The eggs are ready when the buzzer sounds. The indi-
cator lamp turns off. Switch the appliance off and remove the mains plug from the socket.
WARNING: Risk of scalding!
Open the lid using the handle in such a way that steam can escape to the back.
12. Lift out the egg holder by its handles. By doing so, you
can briey hold the eggs under running cold water in order to prevent subsequent cooking.
13. Let the appliance cool down before using it again or
before cleaning and storing. Cleaning and Storage
- Turn the appliance off and disconnect from mains power supply.
- Do not immerse the appliance in water! Doing so may result in an electric shock or re.
- Clean and store the appliance only after it completely cooled down. Risk of burns! CAUTION:
- Do not use a wire brush or other abrasive utensils for cleaning.
- Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents.
- Clean the surface with a damp cloth without cleaning agents, if necessary.
- Clean the lid, the egg holder, and the omelette / poaching insert in a rinsing bath. Dry all parts before storing the appliance.36 PC-EK1139_IM 09.02.17 Decalcication
- The decalcication intervals depend on the hardness of the water and the frequency of use.
- If the appliance switches off before the water boils, it prob- ably needs to be decalcied.
