3 Operation and Handling
This chapter provides you with important information and notes on the operation and basic settings of the appliance.

WARNING
Do not leave the device unsupervised during operation.
3.1 Before initial use
3.1.1 Preparation of the waterfilter
- Remove the waterfilter from all packaging.
- Wash your hands and clean the water tank and the filter holder.
- Remove the water filter from its packaging and soak it in fresh tap water for 10 minutes.
- Rinse the filter for around 10 seconds under running water.
- Insert the filter into the filter holder, ensuring that it sits firmly. To do this, push it down with a slight turning movement, applying some pressure when doing so.
- Insert the filter holder into the water tank. Run water through the filter 2-3 times, using 1 litre each time, before you drink the water.

PLEASE NOTE
The lifetime of the waterfilter lasts about 4-6 weeks of normal use (filtering of approximately 150 l water in total).
Despite soaking the filter beforehand, a small residue of black carbon particles may leak out during use. This is normal and harmless.
Make sure that the bottom of the filter is always in contact with water and never allow it to dry out. If the filter does dry out, then re-soak it for 10 minutes.
Change the water in the tank every 48 hours at the latest.
Store the water tank and filter in a cool place and keep them out of direct sunlight.
3.1.2 Preparation of the device
- Place the device on a hard surface.
- Fill the tank with approx. 1 litre of water.
- Place a vessel which can hold approx. 700ml water under the spout.
- Start the device with 000 temperature setting until ca. 300ml water is dispensed.
- Set the device to 100^ and dispense 400ml water.
- The device can now be equipped with waterfilter and filled with fresh water.
- The device is ready for use.
3.1.3 Set the water hardness

Simultaneously press the Temp. and buttons until the display shows "H1", "H2" or "FIL" under "Volume". "H1" stands for soft water. This means that "Descaling" will light up in the display after 60 litres of water were dispensed. "H2" stands for hard water. This means that "Descaling" will light up in the display after 25 litres of water were dispensed. Use the "FIL"
option to set the device for use with a water filter. If you do so, then "Dscaling" will appear on the control panel display when 150 litres of water has been dispensed.
You can use the Volume -button to change between the "H1", "H2" and "FIL" modes. Following this, confirm your selection by pressing the button for a few seconds.
3.2 Use
- Fill the watertank with water. Pay attention to the mark which shows the maximum water amount.
- Insert the water tank into the device and place its lid on top of it.
- Place your cup or container on the drip tray. Make sure that the cup is located under the water spout.
- Plug the power socket into mains power.
-
Press the button to turn on the device.
-
Press Temp.-button to choose your desired temperature and press button to set the water volume.
- Press the -button to start the device. The pre-set water quantity will be dispensed from the water spout. If you want to stop the water flow in advance, press the -button again.
- Alternatively: Press and hold Baby -button for dispensing of water with 37^ for preparation of baby food. Water with 37^ will be dispensed as long as button is pressed.
PLEASE NOTE
If only a small amount of water is dispensed, then the desired temperature may differ. Preheat the vessel.
To protect the heating element from damage caused by dry operation, the device will draw water into its pipes the first time it is used and when the plug is reinserted into the power socket. We therefore recommend initially dispensing 250ml of water at 100^ .
If device was not used for longer time there could be scale deposits despite water filter. In this case let 100ml with 100^ run through the device.
The device has a reminder feature. The last settings which were saved will be stored even if the plug is removed.
The ambient temperature changes everyday. This leads to different amounts of water. It can vary up to + - 15% .
3.2.1 Water disposal from the drip tray
- When the drip tray is full, grasp and stabilize the device by one hand and use the other hand to lift up the drip tray slightly to remove it.
- Lift it slightly to remove it.
- Remove the water from the drip tray and then hook it back onto the appliance. Make sure that the drip tray is fixed to the device.

3.2.2 Replacing the waterfilter
If the control panel starts to flash and displays the words "Change filter", then the water filter must be changed. Proceed as follows:
- Remove the water tank lid (A) and remove the filter holder (B) with the water filter (C).
- Follow the steps described in Section "Preparation of the water filter".
PLEASE NOTE
After 12 hours of operation the control panel will display the words "Change filter". Change the filter
and then simultaneously press the Baby and Volume buttons for a few seconds to reset the device.
- Spare water filters are available separately.
Set of 6 = Caso Item No. 1841,
Set of 3 = Caso Item No. 1861

3.2.3 Error code Lo Lack of water
If the device stops and you hear a beep and see the error codes "Lo" and "Lack of water" on the control panel display, then this means that there is either not enough or no water in the tank. Fill the tank with water up to the "MAX." mark.
3.2.4 Calibration
If you want to optimize the temperature or volume of water, then you can calibrate the device. Fill the tank up to max marking.
Place vessel below the spout which can collect whole content of watertank.

Press and hold Temp.-button for 3 seconds until "CAL" is displayed. Confirm the process by pressing the button. The device performs the calibration and beeps once process is finished.

- Fill the water tank up to the "MAX" mark with a mixture of water and a commercially available descaling agent. Read the instructions given on the descaling agent packaging for the correct mixing ratio.
-
Place vessel below the spout which can collect whole content of watertank.
-
Simultaneously press the Temp. and buttons. Depending on the instructions for the descending agent, you can use the Temp.-button to select a temperature of 50^, 80^ or 100^
-
Press the button to start the process. The device dispenses whole content of watertank and will be cleaned and descaled.
- Following this, pour away the water.
- Rinse the water tank carefully.
- Then fill the tank with fresh water (without descaling agent) and start the device so that the descaling agent is rinsed out of the pipes.
4.3 Storage
If you do not use the device very often, then remove the plug from mains power, clean the device and drain any residual water out of the device. Replace the device into its original packaging to protect the electrical components from becoming damp or getting damaged.
4.3.1 Residual water plug
The residual water plug stops water from leaking out of the device. You can remove the plug (D) by unscrewing it with a screwdriver to drain off any residual water. Following this, replace the plug in the opening and screw it tight to seal the outlet.
PLEASE NOTE
- Drain the water out of the device if you have to send it to our Customer Service or will not be using it for a longer period of time.

6 Disposal of the Old Device
Old electric and electronic devices frequently still contain valuable materials. However, they also contain damaging substances, which were necessary for their functionality and safety. If these were put in the non-recyclable waste or were handled incorrectly, they could be detrimental to human health and the environment. Therefore, do not put your old device into the non-recyclable waste under any circumstances.

PLEASE NOTE
Utilise the collection point, established in your town, to return and recycle old electric and electronic devices. If necessary, contact your town hall, local refuse collection service or your dealer for information.
Ensure that your old device is stored safely away from children until it is taken away.
6.1 Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the device against damages during transit. The packaging materials are selected in accordance with environmentally compatible and recycling-related points of view and can therefore be recycled. Returning the

packaging back to the material loop saves raw materials and reduces the quantities of accumulated waste. Take any packaging materials that are no longer required to "Green Dot" recycling collection points for disposal.
