How to use your fondue set

Preparing the appliance

  • During operation, the appliance must be placed on a heat-resistant surface, impervious to splashes and stains. When cooking food with a high oil/fat content, splashes are not always avoidable.
  • Fill the bowl with the required amount of oil/fat, broth or cheese, according to your recipe.
  • When using oil/fat or broth, ensure that the level remains between the minimum and maximum level marks.
  • Do not exceed the marked Max. level when preparing cheese fondue.
  • Place the bowl onto the hotplate and plug in the appliance.

Food preparation

Meat/vegetable fondue with oil/fat or broth

  • Fit the splash guard on the bowl.
  • Turn the thermostat control to its MAX position.
  • Preheat the oil/fat or broth for about 20 minutes before you put in the meat.
  • Skewer the food onto the fondue forks and place them in the bowl.
  • When using oil/fat, the cooking time is approx. 112 to 3 minutes and approx. 3 to 4 minutes when using broth.

Cheese fondue

  • Turn the thermostat control to MAX and put the cheese into the bowl. Stir continuously while the cheese is melting.
Once the cheese has melted, the thermostat control can be turned back to a medium position to keep the cheese warm.
  • Skewer the bread pieces onto the fondue forks and place them in the bowl.
  • When cooking is finished pull out the plug.
  • Warning! The bowl and the hotplate are still hot.

Hints on using oil or fat

Use only pure vegetable oil or fat, which must be suitable for high temperatures, neutral in taste and not liable to smoke or spill.
- Do not use the same oil or fat more than three or four times. Otherwise it smells unpleasant, foams, and becomes darker and viscous.
Do not mix different kinds of fat.
- Chop the meat. Only use small pieces of meat.
- Frozen food should the thawed before it is cooked.
Thoroughly dry the food stuffs to be cooked to prevent the oil or fat from foaming over.
Once cooled down, keep the oil/fat in a suitable closed container and store in a cool place.

Cleaning and care

  • Remove the plug from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning.
  • To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the base with liquids or immerse it. If necessary, wipe with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
  • Do not pour used fat or oil in a sink. The cold oil/fat may be discarded with the domestic refuse.
  • The stainless-steel bowl, the splash guard and the fondue forks may be cleaned in hot soapy water or in the dishwasher. Any cheese residues may be removed with a soft brush after the bowl has been steeped in water.
    Dry all accessories thoroughly afterwards.
