Important safety instructions ∙ In order to avoid hazards, and to comply with safety requirements, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix). ∙ Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it. ∙ The reversible plate, mini- pans and wooden spatulas can all be cleaned in warm soapy water. For detailed information on cleaning the GB10 appliance, please refer to the section Cleaning and care. ∙ The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system. ∙ This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as the - staff kitchens in shops, offi ces and other similar working environments, - agricultural working environments, - by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation, - in bed-and breakfast type environments. ∙ This appliance may only be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved. ∙ Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. ∙ Children must only be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance if they are supervised and at least 8 years of age. ∙ The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times. ∙ Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation. ∙ Before the appliance is used, the main11 body including the power cord as well as any attachment fi tted should be checked thoroughly for any faults or defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance. ∙ Do not allow the power cord to touch any hot part of the appliance. ∙ Caution: Danger of burns. The housing surfaces, grill areas and mini-pans become hot during use and will remain so for some time afterwards. ∙ Always allow suffi cient time for the appliance to cool down before removing the grill plate, and before cleaning or storing the unit. ∙ Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use. ∙ During operation, the appliance must be placed on a heat-resistant surface, impervious to splashes and stains. When cooking food with a high fat or moisture content, splashes are not always avoidable. ∙ Do not position the grill next to a wall or corner, and ensure that no infl ammable materials are stored near it. ∙ The appliance must be operated only with the reversible grill plate correctly fi tted above the heating element. ∙ Caution: Do not operate the appliance outdoors. ∙ Always remove the plug from the wall socket - after use, - in case of any malfunction, and - before cleaning the appliance. ∙ When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself. ∙ This appliance should only be used with the attachments provided by the manufacturer. ∙ No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with. Before fi rst use ∙ Remove any packaging materials and stickers from the appliance completely. ∙ Before switching on the appliance for the fi rst time, wipe the reversible grill plate, wooden spatulas and mini-pans with a damp cloth. ∙ Heat the appliance and the pans for about 30 minutes, without any food in, to eliminate the smell typically encountered when fi rst switching on a grill (a small amount of smoke may also be noticeable). Adequate ventilation should be ensured by opening windows or balcony doors. ∙ Let the grill cool down again. ∙ Clean it as described in the section Cleaning and care.12 Reversible grill plate ∙ The ribbed side of the reversible grill plate is particularly suitable for doing meats, such as steak, sausages etc. ∙ The smooth side of the reversible grill plate is used for grilling vegetables and seafood. ∙ Before the appliance is switched on, position the reversible grill plate on top of the appliance over the heating element, ensuring that the recesses in the plate fi t securely onto the corresponding supports. Variable thermostat ∙ The variable thermostat controls the operating time of the heating element. For grilling or melting, turn the thermostat all the way to the right to its maximum setting. To keep food warm, turn the thermostat back to the left. ∙ The indicator light shows the operating status of the heating element. Heating element on = indicator light on Heating element off = indicator light off How to prepare raclette cheese Cut 200 to 300 grammes per person of a soft-cutting cheese into slices about 3 - 5 mm thick and put them into the mini-pans. It is preferable to use Gouda, Tilsit, Appenzell or original raclette cheese. Operation ∙ Fit the reversible grill plate as described above. Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and turn the thermostat control all the way to the right. ∙ After a pre-heating time of about 12 minutes, the grill plate is ready for use. ∙ Place the food to be cooked on the reversible grill plate. ∙ Put the raclette ingredients into the mini- pans and place them under the heating element. Leave until the cheese has melted.
Warning: Do not place empty mini-pans
in the appliance while it is switched on, but leave them on a heat-resistant surface. ∙ After use, turn the thermostat all the way back to the left and unplug the appliance from the mains. ∙ Clean the mini-pans and grill plate directly after each cycle of use as in the section Cleaning and care. Practical hints ∙ Frozen food should always be properly thawed before it is cooked. ∙ To avoid damage to the coating of the mini-pans and the reversible grill plate, only the wooden (or heat-resistant plastic) spatulas should be used when removing food.13 Cleaning and care ∙ Before cleaning the appliance, always make sure that the plug has been removed from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down completely. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it. ∙ Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions. ∙ Wipe the outer surfaces of the grill with a clean damp cloth. ∙ Take the reversible grill plate off and clean it, together with the mini-pans, in warm soapy water. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth afterwards. ∙ Clean the wooden spatulas under running tap water, drying them thoroughly afterwards. ∙ The individual parts are not dishwasher- safe. Disposal Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter. Guarantee This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modifi ed, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse. This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods. If the product fails to operate and needs to be returned, pack it carefully, enclosing your name and address and the reason for return.
