▲ IMPORTANT SAFETY MEASURES

Please read this manual carefully before using your Solis X-Change Mixer to get familiar with your appliance and be able to operate it safely. We recommend you safely keep this manual and, should you pass the appliance on, hand it over to the new owner.

When using electric devices, consider the following cautionary measures for your own safety:

  1. To avoid electric shock, neither the motor unit nor the power cord and plug must come into contact with water or other liquids. Water might penetrate the housing and damage the appliance. Should the appliance resp. the power cord or plug come into contact with liquid, use dry rubber gloves to immediately pull the power plug from the socket.
  2. Before use, check whether the voltage stated on the appliance matches your mains voltage.
  3. During operation, the blending jar must be placed on an even, stable and dry surface like a table or work surface. The appliance might vibrate or shift during operation, therefore you should refrain from using the blender near a table edge and hold the blending jar tight. The appliance is not suitable for outdoors use.
  4. Do not let the power cord hang over table edges to avoid it being pulled down. Ensure that it does not come into contact with hot surfaces like f.e. a hot stove top or a heater. Keep the power cord clear from the appliance itself. Always completely unroll the cord before connecting the plug.
  5. Keep the appliance clear from hot gases, hot ovens or other heat emitting appliances or heat sources. Never use the appliance on a wet or hot surface. Do not place the appliance near moisture, heat or open flames. Keep the appliance clear from moving parts or appliances.
  6. Never carry or pull the appliance by the power cord and do not place anything on the power cord.
  7. We advise against using an extension cable with this appliance. Do not place the appliance directly beneath a power socket.
  8. Always pull the plug when the appliance is out of use or unsupervised or when the appliance is being assembled or taken apart or when changing attachments resp. cleaning the blender. We recommend using a residual current device (RCD-safety switch) to provide additional protection when using electric devices. Using a leakage current circuit breaker with a leakage current of max. 30 mA is advisable. Your electrician can offer professional advice.
  9. Only plug the power plug into the socket when the appliance has been assembled and the attachment has been mounted.

  10. Do not make any changes to the appliance, cord, plug or accessories.

  11. Do not leave the appliance unsupervised during operation! Improper use poses risk of injury!

  12. Never reach for an appliance that has fallen into the water. Always pull the plug before removing it from the water. Do not use it again before having it checked for functionality and safety by Solis or an authorised Solis service centre.

  13. Never place the appliance so that it might fall into water (f.e. next to a sink).

  14. Place the appliance so that it is not exposed to direct sunlight.

  15. Never insert sharp or pointed objects and tools into appliance openings. This might damage the appliance resp. poses a risk of electric shock!

  16. Only use the appliance as described in this manual. Only use provided accessories, improper accessories might cause damage to the appliance.

  17. The appliance is only suited to domestic and not to commercial use. Do not use in vehicles or on boats.

  18. Check your blender before every use.

  19. To avoid electric shock, do not use the appliance when the cord or power plug are damaged or the appliance has some kind of malfunction, has been dropped or is damaged in any other way. Never do repairs yourself but always give the appliance to Solis or an authorised Solis service centre to have it checked, repaired or mechanically and electrically maintained.

  20. People with limited physical, sensorial or mental capabilities (including children) or unknowing and inexperienced people must not use the blender, except when supervised or thoroughly instructed on how to safely use the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

  21. Because of the sharp blades and the risk of injury, we generally recommend keeping the appliance from children and not letting children use the appliance.

  22. Children must be supervised to prevent them from playing with the appliance.

  23. Ensure that the Solis X-Change Mixer has been correctly assembled before using it. Exactly how to do this you will learn in this manual.

  24. Please ensure that the blender shaft is in the blending jar, in a bowl, pan or something similar before starting the appliance.

  25. Before storing, dismantling or cleaning the appliance resp. changing the attachments, wait for the motor and attachment to come to a complete standstill and pull the plug from the socket. This also applies when the appliance is not in use.

  26. When blending heavy and hard goods, the appliance should not be blending for more than 15 seconds without interruption. The motor should then cool down for 1 minute before you start it again.

  27. Should foods clump around the attachment, stop the blender by releasing the ON button. Once motor and attachment have come to a complete standstill, pull the plug and take the blender shaft from the blending jar. Use a plastic spatula to scrape off the foods around the attachment resp. stir before continuing to blend. Never remove the foods with your fingers – the blades are extremely sharp!
  28. During operation, always keep hands, fingers, hair, clothes, jewellery or kitchen tools like scoops away from the blender and the jar. Only after the motor and attachment have come to a complete standstill and the plug has been pulled, you can use a kitchen tool in the jar. Disregarding these instructions can lead to injury or damage the blender.
  29. Always be very careful when handling the blender shaft – the blades are extremely sharp! Be especially careful when removing the blender shaft from the jar or when changing attachments. Improper or careless handling of the attachments can lead to injury!
  30. Never lift the blender shaft from the jar as long as the appliance is switched on and the attachments are rotating.
  31. Use the Solis X-Change Mixer only for preparing foods and/or beverages.
  32. Never operate the appliance without foods or liquids in the jar.
  33. Keep the appliance clean. Please refer to the notes given in the „Maintenance and Cleaning“ chapter of this manual.
  34. Neither the shredding cup nor the provided blending jar are microwaveable. Do not submerge the motor unit and the outer cover of the shredding cup (11) in water and generally do not clean any part in the dish washer.
  35. When using the shredding cup, always place the blade in the shredding cup first. Then, fill the cup with foods, close it firmly with both covers and mount the motor unit. Only use the appliance when the outer cover (11) is firmly shut.

▲ BEFORE OPERATION

- Before using your Solis X-Change Mixer for the first time, please remove all packaging materials and stickers. Do not yet plug the power plug into the socket. Clean the shredding cup, the inner cover (12), the blending jar and the attachments as well as the blender shaft with warm dish water and a soft dish cloth. Thoroughly rinse with clear water and then dry everything.

- The motor unit and the outer cover of the shredding cup (11) must only be cleaned with a soft, moist cloth. Afterwards, dry both parts. The motor unit and the outer cover of the shredding cup (11) must not be held under running water or be submerged in water.

- Note: The blades are extremely sharp. Avoid any contact with them and your fingers resp. your hand!

▲ ASSEMBLING THE BLENDER

1. HOW TO REMOVE THE BLENDING JAR FROM THE ACCESSORY BOX

  • Hold the accessory box with one hand and remove the blending jar by pulling it upwards with your other hand.
  • Caution: To ensure that the accessories remain in the box, you should always lift the blending jar off in such a way that the lid on the accessory box stays shut. Therefore, always hold the storage base tightly with one hand while slightly tilting the blending jar when stripping it off.

- We recommend always keeping attachments and spanner in the accessory box after using and cleaning them – so that they always are at hand and ready for their next use.
- Lock the lid back into place.

3. CHOOSE THE RIGHT ATTACHMENT

You can choose from four different attachments:

THE MULTI BLADE

- Grinds, shreds, minces and blends raw and cooked vegetables, fruit, berries, jam, cooked meat, frozen fruit to ice cream, sherbets and even ice cubes.

- Ideal for foods with a heavy consistency.

THE BEATER

- Stirs and mixes shakes, beverages, instant soups and sauces, pancake and omelette batter, mayonnaise, creamy soups and glazes. Ideal for preparation of dishes with a creamy and thick consistency.

THE WHIPPING DISC

- Whips and foams up, f.e. egg whites, cream, pudding, mousse and sponge mixture. Can even turn skimmed milk into whipped cream. Also suited for foaming up soups and sauces – ideal for everything that should be fluffy and foamy.

MEAT AND VEGETABLE BLADE

- Ideal for chopping and cutting up hard-fibered vegetables as well as small amounts of meat or fish resp. poultry.

text_image Push "Click"

- Caution: The blades are extremely sharp! If possible, do not touch the blades to prevent cutting yourself. Only touch the blades at the shaft or on the plane areas!

▲ ACTIVATING THE BLENDER

  • You have already fastened the attachment to the shaft in the blender stand.
  • Now, insert the motor unit into the blender shaft. Turn the blender shaft clockwise until it comes to a stop, so that shaft and motor unit are firmly connected. The small arrow on the motor unit will turn from its first position over the symbol „open lock“ to the symbol „closed lock“.
  • Only now you should plug the power plug of the fully unrolled power cord into a suitable power outlet.
  • Insert the blender shaft vertically into the blending jar. Only the blender shaft, not so the motor unit, must dip into the liquid or food to be blended!
  • Avoid holding the blender shaft at a slant.
  • Use the speed control to select the appropriate speed and press the ON button. The appliance will start blending.
  • Begin blending or chopping by executing slow up and down movements and slightly turning the blender to both sides.
  • Release the ON button before pulling the blender from the mixture, otherwise foods might spill out of the blending jar.

HOW TO REMOVE THE ATTACHMENTS

  • At the end of the blending process you have to remove the attachment. This must only be done with the provided spanner – never attempt to remove the attachments by hand, you might be seriously injured.
  • Ensure that the power plug is not plugged into the socket.
  • Hold the spanner by the handle and place its prongs under the attachment, at the attachment shaft. You will hear a faint „Click“.
  • Lever out the blade attachment using the spanner – the attachment will detach from the blender stand.
  • Carefully hold the attachment in one and the spanner in the other hand. Then, turn the spanner to position „K“ and lift the attachment off in an upwards motion.
  • You can place the cleaned attachment and the spanner in the accessory box.
  • Be careful when touching the blades with your hands – they are extremely sharp.

▲ USING THE SHREDDING CUP

The shredding cup is excellently suited to chopping and shredding hard foods, f.e. boneless meat, fruit without stones or pips, cheese, onions, herbs, garlic, carrots, nuts, plums etc.

PREPARING THE SHREDDING CUP

  • Push the blade onto the spindle in the shredding cup, holding the blade by its plastic shaft. Caution: Again – the blade edge is very sharp, therefore never touch the blades themselves. Handle the blade only by its plastic shaft.
  • Once the blade is in position, you can place the foods in the shredding cup. Please do not fill the cup more than half.
  • Place the inner cover (12) in the cup, then close the cup with the outer cover (11). Ensure that the drive cap in the outer cover (11) is positioned directly opposite of the plastic blade shaft.
  • Now, insert the motor unit of the blender into the cover and screw it tight clockwise.

USING THE SHREDDING CUP WITH THE MOTOR UNIT

  • Plug the motor unit power plug into a suitable power socket, turn the speed control to the lowest speed (position –) and activate the appliance with the ON button.
  • During the shredding process, hold the motor unit with one hand and the shredding cup with the other.
  • Do not use the shredding cup for more than 15 seconds at a time when shredding hard foods. When the foods are dry and no liquid is in the shredding cup, do not shred for more than 5 seconds at a time.
  • Try to shred at short intervals and avoid letting the motor run permanently. This allows for ingredients to settle down and return to the effective area of the blade, thus making the shredding process smoother and more effective.

QUITTING SHREDDING AND DISMANTLING SHREDDING CUP

  • Once shredding is completed, release the ON button and pull the power plug.
  • Turn the motor unit anti-clockwise and remove the motor unit of the blender from the cover.
  • Softly turn the outer cover (11) anti-clockwise and lift it off. Then, remove the inner cover (12) from the cup.
  • Remove the shredded foods from the cup. Please take care not to cut yourself on the sharp shredding blade.
  • Only now remove the blade from the cup. Hold the blade by the plastic shaft.
  • Clean the blade and the cup and covers as described below.

▲ MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING OF THE BLENDER AND THE SHREDDING CUP

  • Immediately clean the appliance, the blender shaft with blender stand and the attachments after every use to keep the drive shaft from getting covered and stuck with food scraps.
  • Before cleaning, ensure that the plug is pulled and the attachments are removed. Take care so as not to hurt yourself with the sharp blades.
  • Wipe the motor unit and the outer cover of the shredding cup (11) clean with a moist, soft cloth. Let

everything dry completely. Remove potential food scraps on the power cord. Cau-tion: Never hold or submerge the motor unit with power cord, power plug and the outer cover of the shredding cup (11) in water.

Solis XChange 835 - ▲ MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING OF THE BLENDER AND THE SHREDDING CUP - 1

natural_image Diagram of a faucet with a cross symbol indicating a crossed-out or blocked mechanism (no text or labels present)
  • Clean the attachments and the shredding blade with warm dish water, preferably with a brush, and dry them off. If you have blended especially salty foods, clean the attachments / shredding blade immediately after use, as the salt might corrode the blades. Caution – remember: The blades are very sharp, don't hurt yourself.
  • Clean the blender shaft, the blending jar and the shredding cup with inner cover (12) with warm water with a mild detergent and a cloth or sponge. Dry everything thoroughly.

  • If you have processed foods that might cause discolouration like f.e. carrots, the plastic parts might be discoloured. Wipe the discoloured parts with a bit of cooking oil before cleaning them.

  • If you haven't used the Solis X-Change Mixer for some time, we recommend lubricating the shaft in the blender stand with a few drops of cooking oil to ensure that it moves smoothly again.

▲ STORAGE

- Store your Solis X-Change Mixer in two parts (motor unit and blender shaft) cleanly and dryly in the blending jar. The attachments and the spanner should always be kept in the accessory box. You can attach the motor unit, the blender stand and the blending jar to the accessory box and storage base to store the appliance saving space.
