PDR 12 A1 Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance. You have chosen a high-quality product. The operating instructions are a part of this product. They contain important information about safety, usage and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the range of applications specified. Please also pass these operating instructions on to any future owner. Intended use This appliance is designed for cleaning: machines, vehicles, buildings, tools, facades, terraces, garden equipment in non-commercial environments. : 3 dB Safety instructions IMPORTANT! Ready the safety instruc- tions carefully before using the appliance for the first time and adhere to them at all times. Store these safety instructions carefully for later use or to pass on to the next owner. – The warning and safety signs on the appliance provide important information for safe operation. – Keep plastic wrapping away from children. There is a risk of suffocation! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! ► Never touch the power cable or the plug with wet hands. ► Do not use the appliance in wet or moist environ- ments. ► Keep the power cable away from heat, sharp edges, oil and moving parts of the appliance. ► Never pull the power cable to remove the plug from the power supply. ► Only use the charger with approved battery packs. ► Do not charge the battery pack for more than 24 hours at a time. ► If the power cable is visibly damaged, replace it immediately with a new, original cable. Use and store the power cable only in dry rooms with an ambient temperature of approximately 5–40°C. ► Do not carry the charger by the power cable. ► Avoid using extension cables with multiple sockets and the simultaneous operation of multiple appliances. ► Never open the housing. Opening the housing will invalidate the warranty. ► Never aim the spray jet at electrical appliances or equipment that contains electrical compo- nents. ► The appliance has electrical components. Do not clean it under running water. ► Only charge the battery with the power cable provided.PDR 12 A1 ■ 12
GB│IE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Use the mains adapter only in dry indoor areas, not outdoors. ► Never insert conductive objects (e.g. screw- drivers) into the charging socket. RISK OF FIRE! ► Do not operate the charger in explosive atmos- pheres. ► Do not charge primary cells: there is a risk of explosion. ► Do not expose the battery to strong sunlight, heat or fire. ► Never subject the appliance to extreme heat or humidity. This particularly applies to storage in a car. Extreme temperatures can occur in car interiors and glove compartments during long periods of immobilisation. Remove electrical and electronic devices from the vehicle. ► If you notice a burning smell or smoke coming from your appliance, disconnect it from the power supply immediately. DANGER! ► Do not operate the appliance whilst steering a car or any other vehicle. This is hazardous to other road users. ► Do not place the charger cable in or near the expansion area of the airbag, since the charger cable could be flung through the vehicle interior in the event of airbag deployment and cause serious injuries. ► The user must use the appliance properly. They must take local conditions into account and pay attention to other people in their vicinity. ► When using the appliance in hazardous areas, comply with the relevant safety regulations. ► Do not use the appliance if it is visibly damaged, if it has been dropped or if it is leaking. DANGER! ► Do not spray objects containing hazardous sub- stances (e.g. asbestos). Do not fill with cleaning agents or use other additives! ► Switch off the appliance before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance work or when exchanging components. ► Corrective maintenance may only be carried out by approved customer service centres or specialists in this area who are familiar with all the relevant safety regulations. ► To prevent hazards, all repairs and the installa- tion of replacement parts may only be carried out by authorised customer service centres. ► Use only spare parts that have been approved by the manufacturer. Original spare parts and accessories offer a better guarantee that the appliance can be operated safely and reliably. WARNING! ► This appliance may not be used by children or people who are untrained in its use. ► This appliance may be used by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are under supervision or have been told how to use the appliance safely and are aware of the potential risks. Do not allow children to use the appliance as a toy. ► Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. ► Always store the appliance in accordance with the manual and the illustration below. ► Do not charge the appliance if there is water in the water tank. Do not run the appliance with- out water: it could be irreparably damaged. ► Do not aim the spray jet at anyone’s eyes. ► The appliance must be kept out of the reach of children whenever it is switched on.PDR 12 A1 GB│IE
13 ■ CAUTION! ► Never fill the water tank with solvents, liquids containing solvents, or undiluted acids (e.g. cleaning agents, petrol, paint thinner, acetone). They could damage the materials used in the appliance. ► Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is in operation. ► Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is connected to the power supply. ► Place the appliance on a firm, level surface to ensure stability. CAUTION! ► Do not operate the appliance at temperatures below 0°C. Safety equipment CAUTION ► Do not change or bypass the safety functions of the appliance. They are there for your safety. The safety equipment is designed to protect the user and may not be deactivated or repurposed. Pressure switch The pressure switch activates the low-pressure spray jet. When you let go of the trigger, the low-pressure spray jet stops. Appliance switch The appliance switch prevents the appliance from being switched on unintentionally. Motor protection circuit breaker The appliance switches off automatically when the power consumption becomes too high. Before use Operating the appliance on a 12 V circuit WARNING! ► The current tolerance of your vehicle's wiring system must be compatible with the connected appliance. ► Refer to your vehicle handbook (cigarette lighter). ♦ Remove the charging socket cover
♦ Connect the correct end of the 12 V cable to the 12 V socket on the appliance. ♦ Connect the 12 V connector plug 10a
with a suitable socket. This is usually the cigarette lighter socket on the dashboard of your vehicle. Many vehicles have a second socket by the rear seats or in the boot. The red LED on the 12 V connector plug 10a lights up. ♦ You can now run the appliance on the 12 V socket. Please note that this does not charge the battery. ♦ Disconnect the 12 V connector plug 10a
from the cigarette lighter socket when you are finished using the appliance. ♦ Remove the 12 V cable from the 12 V socket . ♦ Close the 12 V socket again by replacing the charging socket cover . Charging the appliance with the mains adapter NOTE ► While the battery is charging, the status LED lights up red. ► When the battery is fully charged, the status LED lights up green. ► It takes approximately 1 hour for the battery to charge fully when empty. ♦ Remove the charging socket cover
♦ Connect the end of the charger cable to the charging socket on the mains adapter
♦ Plug the mains adapter into a mains power outlet. ♦ Disconnect the mains adapter from the mains power outlet and the charging socket of the mains adapter
as soon as the battery is fully charged. ♦ Replace the charging socket cover to close the charging socket. Filling the water tank ♦ Turn the water tank towards the Open mark until you can pull the water tank off the base . Hold the base firmly with one hand to create suitable counter-pressure. ♦ Open the lid of the water tank . Use a tap to fill the water tank with water. Do not fill the tank beyond the 5 l mark. NOTE ► The water tank has a capacity of 5 litres. ► Fill the water tank with fresh water only. ► Do not open the lid during operation. ♦ Close the lid of the water tank . ♦ Put the water tank back on the base . Turn the water tank towards the Close mark on the base until it clicks into place. Hold the base firmly with one hand to create suitable counter-pressure. Ensure that the I mark on the base is aligned with the I mark on the water tank when it has clicked into place. Operation Switching the appliance on CAUTION! ► If the pump runs for 2 minutes without drawing in liquid, it will run dry and the appliance will be damaged. ♦ Press the On/Off switch to switch the appliance on. The status LED lights up green. The pump builds up pressure. Turning the appliance off ♦ Press the On/Off switch again to switch the appliance off. The status LED goes out.PDR 12 A1 ■ 14
GB│IE Using the hand sprayer ♦ Remove the hand sprayer from its bracket on the base
♦ Point the hand sprayer at the surface you wish to clean. ♦ Pull the trigger on the hand sprayer and keep it held in for a continuous low-pressure jet. ♦ Release the trigger to stop the low-pressure jet and stop cleaning. NOTE ► When the battery is empty, the status LED flashes red and the appliance switches itself off. ► If you do not activate the trigger for around 5 minutes, the appli- ance switches itself off. Stopping operation ♦ Remove the water tank as described in the section "Filling the water tank" and empty it. Replace the water tank on the base. ♦ Pull in the trigger of the hand sprayer until no more water exits the sprayer. ♦ Press the On/Off switch to switch the appliance off. ♦ Return the hand sprayer to its bracket on the base . CAUTION! ► If you do not completely empty the appliance, it could be susceptible to frost damage. Maintenance RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! ► Switch off the appliance before carrying out any cleaning or mainte- nance work or exchanging components. ► Do not clean the appliance while charging it. ► Disconnect the appliance from the power supply if necessary. ♦ Clean the appliance with a damp cloth. Replacing the fuse in the 12 V connector plug To protect the on-board power supply of your vehicle, there is a fuse in the 12 V car adapter 10a . If the appliance stops working, check the fuse and replace it if necessary. ♦ Open the 12 V connector plug 10a by carefully unscrewing the screw insert anticlockwise (using pliers if necessary) and removing it. ♦ Remove the plug tip from the fuse and take out the fuse. ♦ Insert new 10 A fuse into your 12 V charger adapter 10a
♦ Fit the plug tip to the slightly protruding end of the fuse and screw the previously removed screw insert back in. Storage ♦ Store the appliance in a clean, level and dry location at a temperature between 0°C and 40°C. Disposal The packaging is made from environmentally friendly material and can be disposed of at your local recycling plant. Do not dispose of power tools in your normal household waste! European Directive 2012/19/EU requires that worn-out power tools be collected separately and recycled in an environmentally compatible manner. Do not dispose of batteries in your normal house- hold waste! The integrated rechargeable battery in this appliance cannot be removed for disposal. Defective or worn-out rechargeable batteries must be recycled according to Directive 2006/66/EC. Take the battery pack and/or appliance to a nearby collection facility. Please consult your local authorities regarding suitable disposal of worn out power tools/battery packs. Note the labelling on the packaging and separate the packaging material components for disposal if necessary. The packaging material is labelled with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings: 1–7: Plastics, 20–22: Paper and cardboard, 80–98: Composites Your local community or municipal authorities can provide information on how to dispose of the worn-out product. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by the warranty de- scribed below. Warranty conditions The validity period of the warranty starts from the date of purchase. Please keep your original receipt in a safe place. This document will be required as proof of purchase. If any material or production fault occurs within three years of the date of purchase of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for you at our discretion. This warranty service is dependent on you presenting the defective appliance and the proof of purchase (receipt) and a short written description of the fault and its time of occurrence. If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired or replaced by us. 15 ■ Warranty period and statutory claims for defects The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage and defects present at the time of purchase must be reported im- mediately after unpacking. Repairs carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to a fee. Scope of the warranty This appliance has been manufactured in accordance with strict quality guidelines and inspected meticulously prior to delivery. The warranty covers material faults or production faults. The warranty does not extend to product parts subject to normal wear and tear or fragile parts such as switches, batteries, baking moulds or parts made of glass. The warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged, improperly used or improperly maintained. The directions in the operating instructions for the product regarding proper use of the product are to be strictly fol- lowed. Uses and actions that are discouraged in the operating instructions or which are warned against must be avoided. This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes. The warranty shall be deemed void in cases of misuse or improper handling, use of force and modifications/repairs which have not been carried out by one of our authorised Service centres. Warranty claim procedure To ensure quick processing of your case, please observe the following instructions: ■ Please have the till receipt and the item number (e.g. IAN 12345) available as proof of purchase. ■ You will find the item number on the type plate, an engraving on the front page of the instructions (bottom left), or as a sticker on the rear or bottom of the appliance. ■ If functional or other defects occur, please contact the service depart- ment listed either by telephone or by e-mail. ■ You can return a defective product to us free of charge to the service address that will be provided to you. Ensure that you enclose the proof of purchase (till receipt) and information about what the defect is and when it occurred.
