This will make it easier to remove any manufacturing-related residue from the baking surfaces. ■ Heat up the appliance to maximum temperature for a short time with the lid closed: NOTE ► During first use, you may notice a slight smell (there may also be minimal smoke). This is normal and dissipates after a short time. Ensure sufficient ventilation. For instance, by opening a window. – Insert the plug into the mains power socket. The red control lamp lights up as soon as the appliance is connected to the mains. – Wait until the green control lamp lights up. This shows that the appliance is heated-up. SWR 1000 A1 Making waffles After preparing a batter suitable for waffle makers:

1) Heat the appliance with the lid closed: Insert the power plug into the socket.

The red control lamp lights up. As soon as the green control lamp lights up, the appliance has heated up. NOTE ► If you are using a low-fat batter, such as quark batter, lightly grease the baking surfaces with a type of oil suitable for baking/grilling.

2) Open the appliance by pulling the safety catch forwards a little and lifting

the lid by the handle at the same time.

3) Spread the batter evenly on the lower baking tray. To determine the correct

amount of batter, first fill around 3 tablespoons of batter in both baking trays. If necessary, increase or reduce the amount of batter when you cook the next waffles. Make sure that the batter does not run over the edge of the baking trays.

4) Now close the lid. The safety catch must click closed.

5) After at least 2 minutes, you can open the lid to check the progress. Opening

the lid any earlier will rip the waffles.

6) The waffles are ready after about 3 - 4 minutes.

NOTE ► As the ideal browning level depends on personal taste and the type of batter, baking times can vary: Bake the waffles until they have reached your preferred level of browning. You can control the level of browning by adjusting the baking time. The longer the baking time, the darker the waffles. This allows you to bake golden to crispy brown waffles.

7) Make sure that you do not damage the coating on the baking surfaces

when you remove the waffles. Otherwise, the waffles will be more difficult to remove in the future. NOTE ► You do not need to re-grease the baking surfaces before every new waffle.

8) After cooking the last waffle, remove the plug from the power socket and

allow the device to cool down completely.GB

These can not only damage the appliance but also leave residues in the next waffles. ► Never use any hard items to clean the appliance. These can damage the surfaces of the baking trays. ■ After use, first clean the baking surfaces with a dry paper towel to remove fat residues. ■ Afterwards, clean all surfaces and the power cable with a lightly moistened cloth. ■ If any residues remain in the grooves and depressions, remove them with a small wooden skewer. ■ Always dry the appliance properly before using it again. For greasy contaminations ■ If required, use a mild detergent on the dampened cloth and wipe off the fatty residues. If these still do not come off, use a soft washing-up brush. ■ Wipe off any detergent residues using a cloth moistened with clean water. ■ Thoroughly remove all residual detergent from the cloth and repeat the cleaning process as often as required until all residue has been removed from the baking surfaces.
