SAFETY AND INFORMATION

■ This device is designed for the play-back of audio signals.

Any other use is expressly prohibited.

■ Make sure the device is protected from dripping or splashing water.
- Do not place any vessels such as vases on the device. These may be knocked over and spill fluid on the electrical components, thus presenting a safety risk.
- Do not place any naked flames such as candles on the device.
■ Only use the device in a moderate climate.
■ Ensure that the device is adequately ventilated by placing it at least 10 cm from any other object. Do not cover the device with newspapers, table cloths, curtains, etc.

Mains operation

1 Connect the USB cable on the MICRO USB socket on the device and charge the battery.

Caution:

■ The device is connected to the mains with the MICRO USB cable. Pull out the MICRO USB cable when you want to completely disconnect the device from the mains.

Battery operation

1 Do not expose the batteries to extreme heat, caused for example by direct sunlight, heaters or fire.
2 When the batteries are low, » «apa-pears in the display.

■ No liability is accepted for damage resulting from leaking batteries.
■ The batteries are switched off during mains operation.

Environmental note:

■ Batteries, including those which contain no heavy metal, must not be disposed of with household waste. Please dispose of used batteries in an environmentally sound manner. Observe the legal regulations which apply in your area.

Controls on the front

MODE Press and hold the button, turns the device on and off.

Press "MODE" button to swap between DAB and FM modes.

Display Shows various information such as channel name, time, alarm time, volume and the menu.

PRESET DAB and FM modes: press and hold to save a station to pre- set list; press to recall the preset list.

OK/SCAN Confirms settings. FM mode: press to scan the next station.

CONNECTION AND PREPARATION\_\_

Connecting the head- phones

1 Insert the headphone plug (ø 3.5 mm) into the » 📤 « socket on the back of the device.

- The loudspeakers of the device are switched off.

Note:

■ Excessive sound pressure from the earphones or headphones can cause hearing loss.

Environmental note:

■ Batteries, including those which do not contain heavy metal, should not be disposed of with household waste. Always dispose of used batteries in accordance with local environmental regulations.

SETTINGS

Tuning and storing radio stations (DAB and FM) – first installation

When the device is switched on for the first time or after factory reset, the Auto Tuning System will start to scan the whole DAB bandwidth and store in the program list.

When entering FM mode, the device will scan the FM waveband and store the first 10 radio stations as presets 1 to 10.

The time is updated automatically.

For the best DAB/FM reception, it is sufficient to extend the telescopic antenna and direct it accordingly.

2 Switch the »ON/OFF« button to switch on the device.

- Display: »GRUNDIG«.

Tuning and storing DAB and FM radio stations – after a removal

After the automatic station search, all radio stations will be stored in the program list. That is reasonable, if you will use the device in another place or search new DAB radio stations.

1 Press and hold »/MODE« to turn on the device.

2 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.

3 Select the option »Full scan« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- The automatic station search starts, searches and stores the radio stations.

- After the automatic scan, the device switches to standby, the current time lights up.

Storing DAB radio stations to presets

After the automatic station search, all radio stations will be stored in the program list. You can store your favored DAB radio stations on presets 1 to 10.

1 Select DAB radio stations with »« or »»«.

- Display: the name of the radio station, the radio station will be activated in 1 second.

2 Press and hold down »PRESET«.

- Display: »Preset Store« and the first preset.

3 Select the preset with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: »Preset I stored«.

Programming DAB radio stations – manually

1 Select the input source DAB with »/MODE«.

2 Open the menu with »MENU«.

3 Select the option »Manual tune« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: e.g. »5A 174.928MHz« (channel and frequency of a DAB radio station).

4 Select the desired frequency/channel with »◀« oder »▶«.

5 Press »OK/SCAN« to confirm the frequency/channel.

- Display: the signal strength.

6 Press »OK/SCAN« to confirm the setting.

- The DAB radio stations will be stored in the program list.

Tuning and storing FM radio stations

1 Select the input source FM with »/MODE«.

2 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.

- Display: »FM« and »Scan setting«.

3 Confirm the option »Scan setting« by pressing »OK«.

- Display: »Strong stations only«.

Note:

- You can select whether the device will scan radio stations with weak signal (display »Strong stations only«) or all radio stations (display: »All stations«).

4 Select the desired option with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK«.

5 Press and hold down »◀« or »▶« to search the desired radio station.

- The automatic station search starts, and stops at the next station with a strong signal;

or

press briefly »« or »» until you have found the frequency you want.

- The frequency changes in steps of 50 kHz.

6 Press and hold down »PRESETS«.

- Display: »Preset Store« and the first preset.

7 Select the preset with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK«.

- Display: »Preset. I stored«.

Updating the time – automatically

The device will update the time automatically, when a time signal is received for a radio station.

RADIO MODE

General functions

Telescopic antenna

For the best DAB/FM (UHF) reception, it is sufficient to extend the telescopic antenna and direct it accordingly.

Switching on and off

1 Switch the device from standby with press and hold »/MODE«.

2 Switch the device to standby with press and hold »/MODE«.

Adjusting the volume

1 Adjust the volume with »VOL+« or »VOL-«.

Listening with headphones

1 Connect the headphones to the »♡« headphone jack (ø 3.5 mm).

- This switches off the loudspeaker.

DAB mode

Selecting the input source DAB

1 Select the input source DAB with »/MODE«.

- Display: the name of a DAB radio station.

Selecting DAB radio station

1 Select the desired station from the program list step by step by pressing »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

Selecting stored stations

1 Press »PRESETS«.
2 Select the station you want to use »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

Displaying DAB station information

1 To display information on the current DAB station, press »MENU/INFO« repeatedly.

- The following display appears in succession: Information from the provider (e.g. the title of the song, the e-mail address), the signal strength, the genre, the ensemble (e.g. BR Bayern), the current channel and frequency, the bit rate, the broadcasting format, the current time and date.

Setting Dynamic Range Control (DRC) for DAB stations

When you activate Dynamic Range Control, you can hear lower sounds better in a loud environment.

1 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.
2 Select the option »DRC off« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.
- Display: »DRC off«.
3 Select the option »DRC low« or »DRC high« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

4 Press and hold »MENU/INFO« to end the display.

Note:

■ The DAB station must support DRC.

FM mode

Selecting the input source FM

1 Select the input source FM with »/MODE«.

- Display: the frequency of a FM radio station.

Selecting stored stations

1 Press »PRESET«.
2 Select the station you want to use »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

Displaying RDS station informations

RDS (Radio Data System) is an information system which is transmitted additionally by most FM stations.

Notes:

■ It may take some time before all RDS information is available.
■ GRUNDIG has no influence on the correctness of such information.

1 Press »MENU/INFO« repeatedly.

- The following display appears in succession: The name of the radio station, radio text (if offered), station type (PTY), the signal strength, the frequency, mono-/ or stereo signal, the current time and date.

Alarm mode

Setting the alarm time

1 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.

2 Select the option »System« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

3 Confirm the option »Alarm« by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: »Alarm! Setup«.

4 Activate the alarm stand-by with »◀« or »▶« (»Alarm ON«) and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: »On time«, the hours flash.

5 Set the hours with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

6 Set the minutes with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

7 Select the duration (15, 30, 45, 60, 90 or 120 minutes) with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

8 Select alarm (»DAB« = DAB station, »FM« = FM station or »Buzzer« = signal tone) with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

9 Select the desired alarm mode (Weekdays, Weekends, 1 - 6, Daily, Once) with »◀ « or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

Note:

If the alarm is set to „Once“, select the date (day, month and year) with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

If the alarm is set to »DAB« or »FM«, then select the desired station (only if stations are stored on presets 1 to 10) by using »◀« or »▶« or select the option »Last listened« (the last listened station) and press »OK« to confirm.

10 Select the alarm volume with »« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: »Alarm saved«.

11 Turn on or off the alarm with »« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

12 Press and hold »MENU/INFO« to end the display.

Interrupting the alarm

1 Press »OK/SCAN« while the alarm is sound.

- The alarm signal (radio station, or signal) stops.

- The alarm signal goes on again at five-minute intervals (overall alarm duration is 90 minutes).

End the alarm

1 Press »/MODE« while the alarm is sound.

- The alarm signal (radio station, or signal) stops.

- The alarm retains the set time.

Activating and deactivating the alarm

1 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.

2 Select the option »System« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

3 Confirm the option »Alarm 1 Setup« by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: »Alarm ON«.

4 Deactivate the alarm stand-by with »◀« or »▶« (»Alarm OFF«) and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

5 Press and hold »MENU/INFO« to end the display.

Sleep timer

The device has a sleep timer, which switches it off at a preset time. The switch off time can be set in a range between 15 to 90 minutes or off.

Activating the sleep timer

1 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.

2 Select the option »System« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

3 Confirm the option »Sleep« by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: »Sleep OFF«.

4 Set the switch-off time with »« or »►« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- After the selected switch-off time has elapsed, the device switches off automatically.

5 Press and hold »MENU/INFO« to end the display.

Deactivating the sleep timer

1 To switch off the sleep timer early, press »/MODE«.

Call up the software version

1 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.

2 Select the option »System« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK /SCAN «.

3 Confirm the option »SW version« by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: actual software version

4 Press and hold »MENU/INFO« to end the display.

Deleting all settings (Reset)

1 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.

2 Select the option »System« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

3 Select the option »Factory Reset« with with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- A safety confirmation is displayed.

4 Select the option »Yes« with »◀« or »▶«.

Note:

■ To cancel the function select the option »No« with »◀« or »▶«.

5 Press »OK/SCAN« to confirm setting.

- Display: »GRUNDIG«.

Removing DAB radio stations from the program list

If you move to a different part of the country, you should remove DAB radio stations, which are no longer available from the program list.

These DAB radio stations are marked with "?"

1 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.

2 Select the option »Prune« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- A safety confirmation is displayed.

3 Select the option »Yes« with »◀« or »▶«.

Note:

■ To cancel the function select the option »No« with »◀« or »▶«.

4 Press »OK/SCAN« to confirm setting.

5 Press and hold »MENU/INFO« to end the display.

Time settings

Setting the clock format (12 or 24 hours)

1 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.

2 Select the option »System« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK«.

3 Confirm the option »Time« by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: »Set Time/Date«.

4 Confirm the option »Set 12/24 hour« by pressing »OK/SCAN«.
5 Select the desired clock format (12 or 24 hours) by pressing »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.
6 Press and hold »MENU/INFO« to end the display.

Updating the time – automatically

The device will normally update the time automatically, when a time signal is received. You can select from which source (DAB or FM) the update starts or you can disable this function.

1 Open the menu with »MENU/INFO«.
2 Select the option »System« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.
3 Confirm the option »Time« by pressing »OK/SCAN«.

- Display: »Set 12/24 hour«.

4 Select the option »Auto update« with »◀« or »▶« and confirm by pressing »OK/SCAN«.
5 Select the desired source (Any = DAB and FM, or DAB or FM) from which the update starts with »« or »«; or select the option »No update«, if you want to disable the update.
6 Press »OK/SCAN« to confirm the setting.
7 Press and hold »MENU/INFO« to end the display.
