2 Safety Notes
The units correspond to all relevant directives of the EU and are therefore marked with C€.
WARNING

The active speaker system uses dangerous mains voltage. Leave servicing to skilled personnel only. Inexpert handling of the unit may result in electric shock.
- The units are suitable for indoor use only. Protect them against dripping water and splash water, high air humidity and heat (admissible ambient temperature range 0–40 °C).
- Do not place any vessel filled with liquid on the speaker systems, e. g. a drinking glass.
-
Immediately disconnect the mains plug from the socket
-
if the speaker systems or the mains cable are visibly damaged,
- if a defect might have occurred after a unit was dropped or suffered a similar accident,
- if malfunctions occur.
In any case the units must be repaired by skilled personnel.
- Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the mains plug from the socket; always seize the plug.
- For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use water or chemicals.
- No guarantee claims for the units and no liability for any resulting personal damage or material damage will be accepted if the units are used for other purposes than originally intended, if they not correctly connected or operated, or if they not repaired in an expert way.

If the units are to be put out of operation definitively, take them to a local recycling plant for a disposal which is not harmful to the environment.
3 Applications
This set of stereo speakers is ideally suited for sound reproduction in smaller rooms (e.g. hi-fi applications or computer applications or in a home recording studio). The set consists of an active speaker system with an integrated 2-channel amplifier (class D) and of a passive speaker system. Each speaker system is designed as a 2-way bass reflex system (bass speaker and dome tweeter). The set includes an infrared remote control.
The set of speakers is equally designed for wireless operation with a Bluetooth audio source (e. g. smartphone, tablet PC) and for operation with connected audio sources (e. g. CD or DVD player, PC). For connection of the audio sources, two analog line inputs and an optical digital input are available. A subsequent unit, e. g. an active subwoofer system, can be connected via a mono line output.
4 Setup/Connection
Set up the speaker systems on an even surface and align them towards the ears of the audience. The tweeters should be at ear level, if possible.
Do not cover the bass reflex openings and do not place the speaker systems too close to walls or in corners; this would distort the frequency response and adversely affect the heat dissipation of the integrated amplifier.
Always switch off the SOUND-4BT/WS prior to connection/disconnection.
1) The active speaker system reproduces the left stereo channel; the passive speaker system reproduces the right stereo channel.
Connect the two speaker systems with each other via their speaker terminals (4), observing the polarity (connect terminals of the same colour).
2) For the connection of audio sources (e.g. CD or DVD player, mixer, MP3 player, notebook, PC, etc.), three inputs (2) are available:
- OPTICAL IN: optical digital input via a Toslink jack
- AUX 2: line signal level input via a 3.5 mm stereo jack
- AUX 1: line signal level input via RCA jacks (left L/right R)
3) The stereo input signal is internally mixed to a mono signal for the output SUB OUT (3). An active subwoofer system or a different unit equipped with a line input can be connected to this RCA jack.
4) First connect the mains cable supplied to the mains jack (6) and then connect the mains plug of the cable to a socket (230V/50Hz).
5 Remote Control
The remote control is supplied with a battery. Prior to initial operation, remove the protective film from the battery support. When pressing a button, always point the remote control to the window (1) of the active speaker system. Make sure that there are no obstacles between the window and the remote control.
If the remote control is not used for a longer time, remove the battery as a precaution so that the remote control will not be damaged in case the battery should leak.
5.1 Replacing the battery
1) Push the latch of the battery support to the right (first arrow in figure 5) and pull out the support (second arrow).

text_image
⑤ 1. 2.2) Remove the discharged battery and insert the new battery (3 V button cell of type CR 2025) in the support, positive pole facing upwards.
3) Push the support back into the remote control.

Never put batteries in the household waste. To protect the environment, always take them to a special waste disposal, e. g. collection container at your retailer.
6 Operation
Note: To prevent switching noise, always switch on the units connected before switching on the SOUND-4BT/WS. After use, switch off the SOUND-4BT/WS first.
1) To switch on the SOUND-4BT/WS, use the POWER switch (5). The blue power indicator in the upper section of the window (1) will light up.
2) To switch between the audio sources, press the respective button on the remote control:
AUX 1 = source at the input AUX 1
AUX 2 = source at the input AUX 2
OPT = source at the input OPTICAL IN
* = Bluetooth mode; the blue Bluetooth indicator in the lower section of the window (1) will light up Information on operation with a Bluetooth source can be found in chapter 6.1.
3) To adjust the volume, use the buttons VOL+ and VOL- on the remote control.
CAUTION

Never adjust a very high volume. Permanent high volumes may damage your hearing! Your ear will get accustomed to high volumes which do not seem to be that high after some time. Therefore, do not further increase a high volume after getting used to it.
4) To mute the sound, press the button MUTE on the remote control. When the sound is muted, the blue power indicator in the upper section of the window (1) will flash. To unmute the sound, press the button again.
5) To switch to the standby mode, press the button POWER on the remote control. In the upper section of the window (1), the blue power indicator will extinguish and the red standby indicator will light up. To switch on the SOUND-4BT/WS, press the button POWER again.
Auto standby:
- when AUX 1, AUX 2 or OPTICAL IN has been selected: If the SOUND-4BT/WS does not receive any audio signal via the respective input, it will automatically switch to the standby mode after 15 minutes.
- in the Bluetooth mode: If the SOUND-4BT/WS does not receive any audio signal from a Bluetooth source, it will automatically switch to the standby mode after 15 minutes. If the Bluetooth connection is still available (e.g. because the source has not been switched off but set to pause), the SOUND-4BT/WS can be switched on again by starting the replay at the source.
6) To switch off the SOUND-4BT/WS, use the POWER switch (5).
6.1 Operation with a Bluetooth source
Notes:
- To allow signal transmission, the source must use the A2DP profile.
- To ensure the best audio quality, the source should support the aptX® technology.
1) To switch the SOUND-4BT/WS to the Bluetooth mode, press the button * The Bluetooth mode will be indicated by the blue Bluetooth indicator in the lower section of the window (1). The indicator will flash if no Bluetooth connection has been established.
2) At the Bluetooth source, switch on the Bluetooth function. On the display of the Bluetooth source, the SOUND-4BT/WS will be indicated by "BT Speaker". Pair the source with the SOUND-4BT/WS (please refer to the instruction manual of the Bluetooth source, if required).
Once the pairing has been made, the Bluetooth indicator will light up constantly.
3) Start the audio replay at the Bluetooth source and operate the Bluetooth source as desired.
The buttons ◀◀, ▶I and ▶II on the remote control may also be used to operate the Bluetooth source (▶ chapter 1.2).
