Power-cord storage compartment The integrated power-cord storage compartment at the rear is used for storing the power cord. The recess at the bottom facilitates limiting the length of the power cord. The left scales are used for standard-sized cups of approx.125ml, the right scales for smaller cups. ∙ Make sure that the indicated maximum amount of water or number of cups is not exceeded. ∙ If several consecutive brewing cycles are required, switch off the coffee maker after each cycle and let the appliance cool down for approx. 5 minutes. ∙ Caution: When lling the appliance with fresh water shortly after a brewing cycle is completed, there is a danger of scalding from hot water or steam escaping through the water outlet. 1. Fillingwithwater:
Open the water container and ll it with the desired quantity of water, then close the lid.

5. Connectingtheappliance:
Insert the power plug.
6. Startingthebrewingcycle:
Use the button to switch the coffee maker on. The ltration cycle starts and the water passes through the lter.

for normal coffee Recipes Are you in the mood for some delicious coffee specialities? or under www.severin.de/Service/Rezepte Cleaning and care Descaling ∙ Depending on the water quality (lime content) in your area as well as the frequency of use, all thermal household appliances using hot water need descaling (i.e. removal of lime deposits) on a regular basis to warrant proper functioning. ∙ Any warranty claim will be null and void if the appliance malfunctions because of insufcient descaling. ∙ A lengthening of the brewing time, increased noise during brewing or residual water remaining in the container indicate that descaling has become necessary. ∙ An excessive build-up of lime deposits is very difcult to remove, even when strong descaling agents are used. It may also cause the brewing system to leak. We therefore strongly recommend descaling the appliance after each thirty to forty brewing cycles. ∙ For descaling, a vinegar solution may be used as follows: ∙ Mix 80 ml of vinegar essence with the indicated maximum amount of cold water. ∙ Pour the descaling solution into the water container, insert a paper lter without adding any ground coffee, as described in section Making coffee, and let the appliance run through one ltration cycle. Models with aroma selection switch: Turn the switch to the position for normal coffee. ∙ Repeat the procedure if necessary. ∙ During descaling, ensure sufcient ventilation and do not inhale any vinegar vapours.16 142 x 208 mm ∙ To clean the appliance after descaling, let it run through 2-3 ltration cycles using clean water only. ∙ Do not pour descalers down enamel sinks. Daily cleaning ∙ Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it; do not clean under running tap water. The appliance may be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth, using a mild detergent. Wipe dry afterwards. ∙ Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions. ∙ To remove the used coffee grounds, open the swing-out lter, lift out the paper lter and dispose of the grounds (as a natural substance they may be composted). Wipe the inside of the swing-out lter with a damp cloth, dry it and close it again. ∙ The jug with lid and the lter insert may be cleaned with warm water or in a dishwasher after use. ∙ For easy cleaning, open the jug lid and remove it by pulling it up. Replace it after cleaning, applying light pressure.
