Frequently Asked Questions - EW1511 PANASONIC

How long does it take to fully charge the EW1511?
Full charge takes approximately 1 hour. The charging status indicator (red) turns off when charging is complete.
What is the operating time of the oral irrigator after a full charge?
At maximum power (level 5), the operating time is approximately 10 minutes. With a full reservoir (200 ml), you have about 60 seconds of continuous use.
Can I use mouthwash or salt in the reservoir?
No. Do not put salt, mouthwash, or other chemicals in the reservoir, as this may cause malfunction. Use only tap water or clean lukewarm water (max 40 °C).
What should I do if no water comes out or the jet is weak?
Check that the main unit is held upright (do not tilt too much). If the jet is weak, clean the filter at the end of the suction tube with a soft brush. If the nozzle is clogged, replace it.
How often should I replace the nozzle?
It is recommended to replace the nozzle every 6 months for hygiene reasons, or sooner if the tip is deformed. The replacement nozzle is part number WEW0983.
Can I share the device with my family?
It is not recommended to share the same nozzle. Each user should have their own nozzle (sold separately) to avoid the risk of infection. The supplied nozzles have an identification ring to distinguish them.
What should I do if my gums bleed during the first uses?
Mild bleeding is normal at first, as the gums receive new stimulation. It should stop after one to two weeks. If bleeding persists, consult a dentist.
How do I clean the device after use?
Empty any remaining water, run the device for a few seconds to expel excess water. Remove the nozzle and rinse it with water. Clean the inside of the reservoir with lukewarm water (max 50 °C) and a mild detergent. Wipe the device and store it upright on the base.
Is the device waterproof? Can I use it in the shower?
The main unit is waterproof and can be used in the bathtub (as indicated in the manual). However, avoid immersing the charging base or adapter in water. After use, wipe the device before placing it on the base.
How do I replace the built-in battery?
The lithium-ion battery has a lifespan of approximately 3 years. It can only be replaced by an authorized service center. Do not attempt to disassemble it yourself except during disposal, following the instructions in the manual (page 60) to remove the battery safely.

Tips of use

▶ Interdental cleaning

  • Direct the water jet onto the space between the teeth.
  • Direct from the front and rear sides of the teeth.
With the water jet, the space between the teeth that cannot be reached with a toothbrush is cleaned thoroughly, and the dirt trapped in periodontal pockets is removed completely. In addition, effective care is provided for the gums by comfortable intermittent stimulation.

▶ Periodontal pocket cleaning

  • Aim the water jet at the space between teeth and gums.
  • Slowly shift the water jet along the gums.
  • Clean the front and back of the teeth and behind the molars as well.
  • If you are concerned about sensitive gums, clean with a gentle water jet setting.
