about the power supply

Before connecting the device to your power supply, make sure that it is switched off and that the electrical voltage specified on the device’s type label matches that of your mains power.

Only connect the mains adapter whilst the unit is switched off.

Do not operate this unit near high frequency electromagnetic sources.

Keep the power cord and the device itself away from heat, hot surfaces, damp and liquids. Avoid touching the plug or power switch with wet or even damp hands, or when you are standing in water.

Parts that conduct electricity on the device must not come into contact with liquid.

If the device falls into water, do not try to pick it up. Instead pull the plug out immediately.

Always make sure that the plug is easily accessible when the device is connected.

Disconnect the plug from the socket immediately after using the device.

Never pull on the power cord to disconnect the appliance from the mains. Always pull out the mains plug!

Do not carry, pull or rotate the device by its power cord. specific groups of people

1 Safety instructions

Children shall not play with the appliance.

Do not use this unit to supplement or replace medical treatment. Chronic complaints and symptoms may be made worse.

The surface of the appliance is hot. People who are insensitive to heat must be careful when using the appliance.

Take care when using the heater. Do not use if you have circulatory problems or on areas not sensitive to heat. Risk of burning!

If you experience any pain or discomfort during the massage, stop immediately and consult your doctor. before using the unit

Always carefully inspect the cable, the control unit and the massage cushion for damage before use. Do not attempt to use a defective unit.

Do not use the unit if there are visible signs of damage on the unit or the cable components, the unit does not work properly or the seat or the control unit have been dropped or become damp. In order to prevent hazards, always send the unit in to the service centre. operating the unit

The seat massager must only be used for its intended purpose as described in the instruction manual.

Using the mat for any other purpose invalidates the warranty.

Never leave the unit unattended if it is connected to the power supply.

Do not allow the massage cushion to come into contact with pointed or sharp objects.

Never put the unit down next to an electric stove or other sources of heat.

• Do not stand on the device. Do not lay on the device, the massage cushion is only for sitting.

The device is only intended for household use and must not be used for commercial or medical purposes. If you have health concerns, consult your doctor before using the massage cushion. The seat massager must only be used in enclosed spaces! Do not use the seat massager in damp rooms (e.g. when bathing or showering). maintenance and cleaning

The unit is maintenance free.

Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself in the event of any defects. Not only does this render the warranty null and void but you can also run the risk of serious hazards (fire, electric shock, injury). Only have repairs carried out by authorised service points.

If the supply cord of this appliance is damaged, it must only be replaced by MEDISANA, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid any risk of danger.

• Never remove the cover of the device, as this could expose it to damage. The cover is not washable!

2.1 Items supplied and packaging

Please check first of all that the device is complete and is not damaged in any way. In case of doubt, do not use it and contact your supplier or your service centre.The following parts are included:

2.2 What is Shiatsu massage?

Shiatsu is a form of finger pressure massage and one of the most important massaging techniques alongwith manual lymphatic drainage and reflexology. This form of physical therapy was developed in Japanbut stems from traditional Chinese massage. Gentle stroking and beneficial pressure applicationtechniques are used to awaken life forces and encourage them to flow through the body. The object ofthe massage is not just to ease tension, but also to optimise the flow of life force and harmonise bodyand soul.

2.3 How does the MEDISANA Shiatsu massage seat cover work?

In the MEDISANA Shiatsu massage seat cover MC 830 you have a modern device for genuine Shiatsu style back massages. The MEDISANA Shiatsu massage seat cover MC 830 has four rotating massage heads for Shiatsu massage of the three zones “Upper Back”, “Lower Back” and “Full Back”. The device is equipped with an additional 3-level vibration function in the seat and a heat function which works on the entire back area. The unique combination of intensive shiatsu and vibration massage with radiated heat makes the massage seat cover an effective and relaxing treatment. Their settings can be comfortably adjusted bymeans of the easy-to-handle control unit

Start-up• Place the massage seat coveron a high chair or armchair and attach it to this by means of thefasteners on the back. Ensure that the seat cover is supported over its entire area and has asufficiently high backrest. Insert plug into the mains socket. Ensure that the power supply is easily accessible. Take a seat on the Shiatsu massage seat cover and familiarise yourself with the functions.Operating the unit The MC 830 shiatsu seat cover has three functions for an effective massage: Shiatsu massage, vibration massage and heat. The heat function can only be used together with the shiatsu massage,during which the vibration massage can also be activated. Do not use the unit for more than 15minutes at a time. After approx. 15 minutes, the unit will switch off automatically. Always allowthe unit to cool down fully before you use it again.Use the buttons on control pad to operate the massage seat cover: Switch on the device by pressing On/Off button . The yellow power LED illuminates. When the “Upper Back” massage button is pressed, the green LED next to the button illuminatesand the Shiatsu massage heads move from the “Park” position at the base of the backrest, up tothe shoulder area, massaging the back in a circular motion whilst doing so. Once the uppermostposition has been reached, the direction of rotation of the massaging heads is reversed. The headsthen travel down to the centre of the back. Once the heads reach this point, the direction of rotationis reversed again and then travel up the back again. If you press button during the massage, thisfunction is switched off and the massage heads remain stationary in their current position. If you press the “Lower Back” massage button , the green LED next to the button illuminates.The Shiatsu massage heads travel up and down the lower half of the back in a circular motion.The reversal of the direction of rotation takes place when the respective end positions are reached.Pressing button during the massage, switches off this function and the massage heads remainstationary in their current position. If you press the “Full Back” massage button the function procedure is similar to pressing buttons

, except that it is for the entire back. You can enhance the shiatsu massage at any time with a vibration massage for your thighs by pressingthe vibration massage button

• The vibration massage in the upper thigh area can be operated separately by pressing vibration massage button . The LED 1 right on top of the button illuminates and both vibration massagemotors are switched on. They begin with a gentle massage. Press button again and thevibration level increases (medium intensity massage, LED 2). Press button a third time and thevibration level increases (highest intensity massage, LED 3). After button is pressed a fourth time, the vibration massage is switched off and the LED 3 above the button extinguishes.15

3 Operating / 4 Miscellaneous

The heat function can be activated at any time with the shiatsu massage, during which the vibrationmassage can also be activated. Press the heat button to activate the function; the red LED lightsup. The heat is radiated across the vertical central axis of the entire back area. At the same timeinfrared light is at work in the Shiatsu massage cushion . Press the button again to deactivatethe heat function; the red LED extinguishes.Switch off the device Press the On/Off button

. The yellow power LED begins to flash and the massage heads travel back down to the “Park” position. When this position is reached, the yellow LED extinguishes. If youpress the On/Off button when one of the massage functions is switched on, the vibration motorsand the heat function just stop immediately. First the massage heads travel downwards to the “Park”position. The yellow LED flashes meanwhile and then extinguishes. After each use, switch the device off using the On/Off switch and remove the plug from themains socket. Always store control pad in its bag

4.1 Cleaning and maintenance

• Before cleaning the device, make sure that it is turned off and the mains plug is removed from thesocket. Allow the unit to cool down. Only clean the Shiatsu massage seat cover with a soft cloth slightly dampened with a mild detergent(e.g. soap suds). Under no circumstances should you use aggressive detergents, strong brushes,solvents or alcohol. When cleaning, never immerse the unit in water and make sure that no water gets into the unit.• Wait until the device is completely dry before using it again.• Undo any kinks in the cable.• You should ideally store the device in its original packaging and keep it in a clean, dry place.

If you have to return the unit, please enclose a copy of your receipt and state what the defect is. The following warranty terms apply:

1. The warranty period for MEDISANA products is three years from date of purchase. In case of a

warranty claim, the date of purchase has to be proven by means of the sales receipt or invoice.

2. Defects in material or workmanship will be removed free of charge within the warranty period.

Repairs under warranty do not extend the warranty period either for the unit or for the replacement parts.

4. The following is excluded under the warranty:

All damage which has arisen due to improper treatment, e.g. non- observance of the user instructions. b. All damage which is due to repairs or tampering by the customer or unauthorised third parties. c. Damage which has arisen during transport from the manufacturer to the consumer or during transport to the service centre. d. Accessories which are subject to normal wear and tear.

5. Liability for direct or indirect consequential losses caused by the unit are excluded even if the
