Frequently Asked Questions - KM4100 AEG

How do I install the bowl on the KM4100 food processor?
Place the stainless steel bowl on the fixing plate, then turn it clockwise until it locks. Make sure the motor arm is lowered before using the appliance.
Which accessories are dishwasher safe?
The bowl, flat beater, dough hook, SoftEdgeBeater™ and PerfectRiseLid™ can be washed in the dishwasher. The wire whisk, meat grinder and slicer/grater must be hand washed.
The motor does not start, what should I do?
First check that the appliance is properly plugged in. If the speed selector was already in a position before plugging in, the lights flash; set the selector to OFF then select the desired speed again.
How do I adjust the height of the accessory attachment shaft?
Unplug the appliance, tilt the motor arm back. Use a flat screwdriver: turn counterclockwise to raise the shaft, clockwise to lower it. The flat beater should not touch the bottom of the bowl.
Can I use the food processor to knead bread dough?
Yes, with the dough hook. Respect the maximum quantities (e.g. 16 dl of flour for pizza dough) and do not exceed speed 2. Use the PerfectRiseLid™ to let the dough rise.
How do I use the meat grinder?
Assemble the grinding screw, blade and die in the holder. Attach the grinder to the accessory adapter. Cut the meat into pieces, place it on the tray and use the pusher. Set speed to 6-8. Never put your fingers in the chute.
What does the flashing of the lights mean?
If the lights (blue LED of the selector and operating light) flash, this indicates that the speed selector was left activated before plugging in. Set the selector to OFF then select the desired speed.
The food processor vibrates or moves during use, is this normal?
This can happen with heavy loads (thick dough, cheese). Remove half of the mixture and proceed in two batches. Also check that the rubber feet are clean and dry.
How do I clean the motor of the food processor?
Clean the motor unit with a damp cloth. Never immerse the motor in water or use abrasive cleaners.
What accessories are recommended for creamy results?
The SoftEdgeBeater™ is ideal for toppings and creamy mixtures: its silicone edges scrape the sides of the bowl. For heavy doughs, use the dough hook.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

9 How to use the coated SoftEdgeBeater™ * tool:

The SoftEdgeBeater™ is perfect for creamy mixtures and toppings.

The silicone edges of the beater, gently wipes the sides on the bowl helping to incorporate all the ingredients in the mixture and to ensure even consistency throughout the mixing process.

10 Note: Do not use the coated SoftEdgeBeater™ with heavy mixtures such as dough, use the dough hook tool instead. For hard ingredients like dry fruits, shells or bones use the coated flat beater instead.

11 How to use the PerfectRiseLid ^TM *:

The PerfectRiseLid™ isolates and helps to build up the humid environment for the dough to rise in proper condition.

www.aeg.com

Covering the bowl with the PerfectRiseLid™ keeps the dough from drying out, preventing the formation of a crust on the surface of the dough, which inhibits the proper rising of the dough which results in a poorer baking result.

12 Attachment hub: The appliance comes with a built in multipurpose Attachment hub. Read and carefully follow the instructions that comes with each attachment for correct and safe use.

13 Adjusting the Attachment shaft: The appliance is adjusted at the factory so that the Flat Beater clears the bottom of the Bowl. If the Flat Beater hits the bottom of the Bowl or is too far away from the sides, you can adjust it correctly. See 14 for further instructions.

Note: Do not over tighten the ring.

16 Open the Attachment hub lid on the Stand mixer. Fit the Power shaft of the attachment in the Attachment hub socket on the Stand mixer. Rotate the attachment back and forth if necessary. Tighten the Attachment hub knob until the attachment is fully fastened.
