UNOLD 48808 - PREPARATION OF ICE CREAM - 1

  1. Prepare the ingredients for the ice cream as described in the recipe. If the ice cream mass needs to be cooked before you can use it further, please do so the previous day to allow it to cool thoroughly.
  2. Cool the prepared ice cream mass or the required ingredients down to refrigerator temperature (approx. 6 - 8^
  3. Puree fruit directly before preparation, and add fruit chunks only towards the end of the preparation process.
  4. Add alcohol only carefully and in small amounts towards the end of the freezing time because alcohol lengthens the freezing time.
  5. Place the removable ice cream bowl into the corresponding indentation in the compressor casing (4).

  6. Place the blender (2) exactly onto the spindle protruding from the bottom of the ice cream bowl (3).

  7. Pour the cooled ingredients into the removable ice cream bowl. It is important not to exceed the maximum filling capacity. Do not fill the ice cream bowl completely (only up to 3/4 of the max. capacity) because the ice cream will expand during the freezing process.
  8. Place the lid on the ice cream bowl.
  9. Plug in the appliance and switch it on using the ON/OFF switch. "60:00" will appear on the display. The appliance is ready for operation.
  10. If necessary, adjust the timing in 10 minute steps (10, 20, 30, 40,50 or 60 minutes)

by repeatedly pressing the time selection button.

  1. Press the START/STOP button. The appliance will start stirring the ingredients. The green control lamp "Stir" lights up.
  2. Cooling will automatically begin approximately 2 minutes later and the red control lamp "Cool" will light up.

  4. During operation, you can suspend the stirring process at any time by pressing the START/STOP button. Stirring can be resumed by pressing the START/STOP button again.
  5. During operation, you can extend the operating time by pressing the time selection button. The operating time can be extended in 5-minute steps, up to a maximum of 60 minutes.

  7. If the ice cream is not removed within 10 minutes of the sounding of the completion signal, the cooling function will automatically kick in to prevent the ice cream from melting.

  8. The automatic cooling function cools the ice cream in steps of 10 minutes up to a maximum of 1 hour.

  9. Before removing the ice cream, switch off the machine and pull out the plug.
  10. To remove the prepared ice cream, first take off the transparent lid.
  11. Then remove the ice cream bowl from the appliance and carefully extract the mixer from the ice cream.
  12. Fill the ice cream into a suitable container. Please use plastic or wooden spoons rather than sharp or pointed items to avoid damaging the coating.
  13. If you wish, you can prepare more ice cream immediately afterwards. Simply start again from Step 1.
  14. Tip: When preparing fruit ice cream or sorbet, remove the ice cream bowl immediately at the end of the program, fill the ice cream into a deep-freezable container and place it in the freezer to allow the ice cream to freeze through completely: while the ice cream may have solidified on the outside, it may possibly still be slightly liquid on the inside.

RECIPES:GENERAL INFORMATION

In the following you find some general information for the preparation of ice cream as well as some basic recipes. You will find a lot of good cooking books in good bookstores. Please adapt the quanti-ties always to the maximum filling quantity of the ice bowl.

The ice cream smells best when it is fresh. Homemade ice cream does not contain any conserving agents and is thus provided for immediate use.

If you want to store the ice cream for sometime, you should add 20g ice cream base which avoids the formation of big ice crystals. In Germany the ice base (Eisbasis) is available under the following address in Germany:

Hobbybäcker-Versand-Inge Pinzer
Am Muhlholz 6-89287 Bellenberg
Tel.07306/925900-Fax07306/925905
Internet: www.hobbybaecker.de

Only use ripe fruits for fruit ice cream. Fruit pieces or berries should be added at the end of the freezing procedure. Only use very fresh eggs. You can replace milk by cream or cream by milk. The more cream is used, the softer the ice cream will be.

Sugar can be replaced by honey, syrup or sweetener (not in case of soft ice cream). Milk can be replaced by soy milk.

If you want hard ice cream, put the mass for about 15-30 minutes into the freezer before filling it into the ice cream bowl, or just select a longer freezing time.

The ingredients must be well cooled before filling them into the ice cream bowl. The cooler the ingredients, the shorter the preparation time (15 bis 30 minutes).

Ice will lose taste and quality if stored too long.

To conserve the ice cream for a certain time, do not leave it in the removable bowl of the ice machine, but fill it into an adequate freezing box with lid.

Ice cream can be stored for a short time in the freezer.

Use the homemade ice cream within one week. Melted ice cream should be used immediately and should not be frozen again.
