1. IMPORTANT: READ THIS FIRST!

ATTENTION! The EasyBase is a safety product. Its safety can only be guaranteed if it is used according to the instructions.

ATTENTION! The EasyBase may only be used in combination with the CabrioFix. The CabrioFix can be identified by the type specification on the safety belt and the two steel pins at the bottom of the CabrioFix. If you are in any doubt, please contact the manufacturer.

Never leave a child unattended in the seat - neither in the car, nor outside of the car.

Do not use the EasyBase in a seat where a frontal airbag is installed. This can be dangerous. This does not apply to the so-called side airbags.

The EasyBase may be used in the front seat and in the back seat. Always place the EasyBase back to front. If the back seat can be folded down, make sure it is properly locked in place.

Please read these user instructions carefully and keep them for future reference. If these instructions are not followed, the safety of your child may be severely endangered.

Only use original accessories and parts that have been endorsed by the manufacturer. Do not modify the product in any way. If you have any complaints or problems, please contact your supplier or dealer.

The EasyBase has been approved according to the latest directives of ECE R 44/04, the European standard for car safety seats. It is used in combination with the CabrioFix. The EasyBase is suitable for children from birth up to the age of approx. 15 months (Group 0+: 0 - 13 kg).

2. APPLICATIONS IN THE CAR

The EasyBase has been approved for installation with three-point belt and anchor leg.

Because of the fact that an anchor leg is used, which ensures optimum safety, the EasyBase is not suitable for all types of cars. Therefore, the EasyBase has been approved for "semi-universal" use and is suitable for installation on seats of a number of specified cars as listed in this instruction manual. Refer to Chapter 9: car fitting list.

3. INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL OF THE EASYBASE

Only use the EasyBase on a front-facing seat, which has been provided with an automatic 3-point belt, provided it has been approved according to the ECE R16 standard or similar.

Correct positioning of the car seat belt is essential for the safety of your child. The seat belt has to be laid along the blue marks on the EasyBase. Refer to the blue circled sticker on the top of the EasyBase. Never lay the seat belt in any other way than described!

A. Installation

- ATTENTION! In some cases, the seat belts are positioned too far forward. This will make proper installation impossible. Please refer to Chapter 9: car fitting list, for suitable seat types.

- ATTENTION! Sometimes, the lock part of the seat belt is too long and it will make contact with the base of the EasyBase in a position that is too high. If this is so, the EasyBase cannot be secured properly. In that case, choose another position in the car. If you are in any doubt or if you have any questions, please contact the manufacturer.

- Place the EasyBase on the car seat (1). Make sure the anchor leg is fully folded out.

- Open the blue seat-belt clamp by pulling up the lever (2,1). Feed the shoulder and hip belt both through the seat-belt opening (2,2).

- Pull the seat belts further, and lead them between the base and the blue seat-belt clamp. Next, feed them through the second seat-belt opening (3,1). The seat belt is now in vertical position.

3 Click the seat belt into the seat-belt lock of the car (3,2).

- Remove all play by pulling the shoulder part tight.

4 • Close the seat-belt clamp by pushing down the lever (4).

- Check correct mounting by pulling on the EasyBase.

B. Installing the anchor leg at the correct length

- ATTENTION! Always use the anchor leg for safe use of the EasyBase.

5 • ATTENTION! Make sure that the anchor leg is fully folded out and that it is stopped at the hinge point (5).

- Grip the anchor leg underneath the adjustment knob and push the adjustment knob on one side, using your thumb (6.1).

- Keep the adjustment knob pressed and move the anchor leg downward until it touches the floor of the car (6.2).

7 • ATTENTION! Ensure that the indicator on the foot of the anchor leg is green (7).

- Release the adjustment knob and lock the anchor leg until you hear a clearly audible 'click'.

- Ensure that the anchor leg is locked and that it will remain in position by trying to move the anchor leg up and down without pressing the adjustment knob.

Checklist ...

To ensure optimum safety for your child, always check the following points after installation:

• Make sure the seat belt is tight and that it is not twisted;
- Make sure both belt parts pass through the belt openings in the base and underneath the blue belt clamp;
• Make sure the anchor leg is fully folded out;
- Make sure that the indicator on the foot of the anchor leg is green;
- Make sure the EasyBase is completely and stably fixed within the car by pulling on the EasyBase.

C. Removing the EasyBase

• Push back the anchor leg to its starting position by pressing the adjustment knob (8,1) and sliding the anchor leg upward (8,2).
• Release the seat belt (9,1) and open the blue seat-belt clamp (9,2).
• Remove the seat belt from between the base and the blue seat-belt clamp (10,1) and close the seat-belt clamp (10,2).
• Remove the EasyBase from the car.

4. INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL OF THE CABRIOFIX

A. Installation of the CabrioFix

11 Place the CabrioFix back to front (your child will be facing the rear) on top of the EasyBase (11). Make sure that the carrying handle is in the upright position.
12 • Click the two pins of the CabrioFix onto the anchor points of the EasyBase (12).
13 • ATTENTION! You should hear a clearly audible click and the indicators will now be green (13)
- ATTENTION! Never use the product if the indicator remains red. Repeat all of the above actions. If you are in any doubt or if you have any questions, please contact the manufacturer.
- Check correct mounting by pulling on the CabrioFix.

Before putting your child into the CabrioFix and removing it, please refer to the instruction manual of the CabrioFix. Only if it is used in the correct way will the safety of your child be optimally guaranteed. That's why we recommend that you take the time to read these instructions carefully. B. Removing the CabrioFix

14 • Unlock the CabrioFix by pulling the release lever up and out (14).
• Take the CabrioFix off the EasyBase (15).

5. MAINTENANCE

• ATTENTION! Perform these actions only while the EasyBase is outside of the car.
• Clean all plastic parts of the EasyBase using a cloth, soap and lukewarm water. Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents.
• ATTENTION! Do not use lubricants - not even for the moving parts of the EasyBase.
• If the indicators no longer work, please contact your supplier or dealer.

6. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Always check the following:

• Before purchase of the baby car seat, make sure it is suitable for your car. Refer to Chapter 9: Car fitting list.
• Use the baby car seat at all times. Even - especially! - during short trips, because that's when most accidents occur.
• Do not use the EasyBase in a seat where a frontal airbag is installed. This can be dangerous. This does not apply to the so-called side airbags.
• The EasyBase must always be fastened with seat belts and anchor leg, even if it isn't used. A loose EasyBase may hurt other passengers in case of an emergency stop.
• Make sure that the EasyBase is not jammed or wedged in by heavy luggage, adjustable seats, or closing doors.
• Always cover the EasyBase when parking the car in full sunlight - the plastic and metal parts can get very hot.
• Make sure that luggage and other objects (e.g. those lying on the rear shelf) cannot move and hurt people in case of a sudden stop.
• When making long journeys, make sure to take frequent breaks, in order to give your child some room to move.
• Never leave your child alone in the car unattended.
• Keep the user instructions for future reference in the appropriate place at the back of the EasyBase.

• Never use second-hand products! You never know what may have happened with these. The safety of the seat can only be guaranteed by the manufacturer if it is used by its first owner.
• Always replace the EasyBase after an accident; the EasyBase may have been rendered unsafe by hidden damages.
• The manufacturer knows that car seats may cause impressions in car upholstery or car seat belts. These cannot be avoided, since the safety standards demand powerful and firm fastening methods. That is why the manufacturer cannot be held liable for any damage as a result of these.

And of course ...

• Always set a good example and wear your own safety belts!

7. WASTE SEPARATION

To ensure optimum and safe use of car safety seats, they should not be used for longer than 5 years from the date of purchase. Ageing of the plastic, for instance under the influence of sunlight, may quite unnoticeably reduce the qualities of the product.

Once your child has grown out of the seat, we therefore advise you to no longer use the car safety seat and dispose of it in the proper way.

From an environmentally-conscious point of view, we ask you to separate the developing waste products at the beginning (packaging) and the end (product parts) of the lifetime of the EasyBase.

Make sure to keep plastic wrapping material out of reach of your child, in order to avoid the risk of suffocation.

9. CAR FITTING LIST

Because of the fact that an anchor leg is used, which ensures optimum safety and ease of installation, the EasyBase is not suitable for all types of cars. Therefore, the EasyBase has been classified for

"semi-universal" use and is suitable for installation on seats of a number of specified cars, for which a car fitting list has been drawn up. This list is subject to changes and will grow in time. For an up-to-date version of the car fitting list, please refer to the website www.maxi-cosi.com and / or the point of sale of your EasyBase. Feel free to ask whether the EasyBase is suitable for use in your own car. Enclosed with this instruction manual you find the most recent car fitting list at the time of purchase of the EasyBase.

10. WARRANTY

Dorel Netherlands guarantees that this product meets all safety requirements as described in the current European safety standards of ECE R44/04. It is also guaranteed that this product does not have any defects in assembly or manufacture at the time of purchase. If, after purchase and during the warranty period, this product shows any material manufacturing defects (after normal use as described in this instruction manual), Dorel Netherlands will assume the responsibility to repair or replace the product. The warranty term is 24 months for all plastic parts, etc. and 12 months for other parts that are subject to wear. Exceptions are the results of normal wear, which may be expected if the product is used on a daily basis.

The warranty becomes void in the following cases:

• If the product cannot be presented to the manufacturer together with the original proof of purchase.
• If the defects are the result of incorrect or insecure use or maintenance, i.e. deviating from the descriptions in this user manual.
• If any repairs were carried out by third parties.
• If the defect is the result of neglect or impact damage to the plastic.
• If the defect is the result of an accident or damage during transport - e.g. by getting jammed or wedged in by heavy luggage or closing doors.
• If any damage or removal of the ECE mark and serial number are observed.
• If the damage to parts is the result of normal wear, to be expected if the product is used on a daily basis.
• If the damage concerns wear and impressions to the car seat and seat belt; these cannot be avoided because of the required safety standards and the powerful and firm fastening methods that must be used. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for such damages.
• If the above-mentioned warranty stipulations are not met in any other way.

Date of effect:

- The warranty term will come into force on the date of purchase of the product.

Warranty term:

- The warranty period for plastic parts etc. is valid for a period of 24 consecutive months. For other parts that are subject to wear, the warranty period is valid for 12 consecutive months. The warranty only applies to the first owner and is not transferable.

If you discover a defect:

- In case of defects, please turn to your retailer. If your retailer is not able to solve the problem, he will return the product to the manufacturer, together with a description of the complaint and the original, dated, proof of purchase. It is not possible to demand exchange or taking back. Repairs will not prolong the warranty period. Any products returned directly to the manufacturer will NOT qualify for warranty.

This Warranty is in compliance with the European Directive 99/44/EG dd 25 May 1999.

• Serial number at the bottom of the orange/white sticker (at the back of the EasyBase).
