Frequently Asked Questions - Cremalatte 869 Solis

What if the appliance does not start?
Check that the appliance is properly plugged in and the outlet is powered. Make sure the glass pot is correctly placed on the heating plate. If the problem persists, contact Solis customer service.
Why is the milk not frothing?
Use semi-skimmed milk (1.5% fat) and cold. Check that the serrated attachment is correctly installed. Adding chocolate or cocoa can reduce froth.
How to clean the milk frother?
Unplug the appliance and let it cool. Wash the pot and lid with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher (top rack). Rinse the attachments under running water. Clean the motor block with a soft, dry cloth.
Can I put the glass pot in the dishwasher?
Yes, the glass pot can be washed in the dishwasher (top rack). However, frequent washing may affect its appearance and markings.
How much milk should I use for frothing?
Fill the pot between the MIN (150 ml) and MAX (350 ml) marks. Do not exceed 350 ml to avoid overflow during frothing.
How to prepare hot chocolate?
Place the attachment (with or without serration), pour cold milk (between MIN and MAX), add up to 20 g of chocolate or cocoa powder, close, and select the heating/mixing program (chocolate symbol). The appliance stops automatically after approx. 5 to 7 minutes.
Can the appliance operate without the glass pot?
No, the appliance is designed to operate only with the supplied glass pot. A safety switch prevents operation if the pot is not correctly placed.
How to choose the right attachment?
Use the serrated attachment to froth milk (hot or cold). Use the attachment without serration to heat or mix milk without froth (e.g., hot chocolate).
Is the appliance suitable for commercial use?
No, the Solis Cremalatte 869 is intended for household use only. Commercial use is not recommended and would reduce the warranty to 12 months.
What to do in case of malfunction or defect?
Consult the 'Problems and solutions' section of the manual first. If the problem persists, contact Solis customer service (in Switzerland: 091 802 90 10). Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself.

We thoroughly recommend that you keep these instructions and, if you pass the appliance on, that you also hand these instructions to the new owner.

For your own safety, please observe the following safety measures when using electrical appliances:

  1. To prevent electric shock, neither the motor base nor the power cord or plug must come into contact with water or other liquids. Water can enter the housing and damage the appliance! Should the motor base resp. the power cord or plug come into contact with liquids, use dry rubber gloves to pull the power plug from the socket.

  3. Before using the appliance, check that the voltage stated on the type plate matches your mains voltage.

  5. Do not leave the power cable hanging over table edges so that it can be pulled. Make sure that it does not come into contact with hot surfaces, such as hotplates or a radiator, or that it comes into contact with the appliance. Fully unwind the cord before use.
  6. Keep the appliance away from hot gas, hot ovens and other heat-emitting appliances or heat sources. Never use the appliance on a hot or wet surface. Never place the appliance near moisture, heat and naked flames. Keep the appliance away from moving parts or appliances.

  8. We recommend that you do not use an extension cable with this appliance. Do not place the appliance directly underneath a power socket.
  9. Unplug the appliance when it is not in use or unattended and before cleaning. We recommend the use of a residual current device (RCD safety switch) to ensure additional protection during the use of electrical appliances. It is advisable to use a safety switch with a rated residual operating current of 30 mA maximum. For professional advice consult an electrician.
  10. Do not make any adjustments to the appliance, cable, plug or accessories.

  11. Do not leave the milk frother unattended when in use. Incorrect use may cause injury!

  • Lift the lid off the glass jug (fig. 1).
  • Place the toothed foam blender on the pin in the glass jug (fig.2).
  • Fill the glass jug with cold milk. Look for the MIN and MAX markings. If you pour in too much milk – more than 350 ml – the milk, which increases in volume when heated, might spill out of the jug (fig. 3).
  • Place the lid back on the glass jug (fig. 4).
  • Place the glass jug on the heater plate of the appliance base, using the handle. Plug the power plug into a suitable wall outlet (fig. 5).

- Touch the sensor button repeatedly until the right symbol lights up in the display (fig. 6.):

Frothing and heating

  • The magnet motor will drive the blender element in the glass jug. Depending on the function, the heater plate and the glass jug will heat up additionally.
  • After approx. 90 to 360 seconds, the appliance will stop automatically and the function symbol will go out. The milk is frothed and can be poured resp. spooned onto your espresso/coffee. Before that, please remove the lid.
  • If you wish to switch the appliance off before the automatic stop, simply touch the function button another time.

Tips:

  • Let the frothed milk sit for a while so that it becomes more firm and stable.
  • Spoon the frothed milk onto your espresso to make it stay compact.
  • Depending on what kind of coffee you want to make, pour the remaining milk that has not been frothed into your coffee:

Cappuccino consists of one third hot espresso, one third hot milk and one third frothed milk.

Latte Macchiato consists of one espresso, a bit of hot milk and a lot of frothed milk.

Caffè Latte consists of a double espresso in a big cup, that is then filled up with hot milk. Only add a little or no frothed milk at all.

  • For best results, use cold, low-fat milk (1,5% fat) from the fridge for your frothed milk.
  • Cold frothed milk works well for cold milky coffee or Cappuccino Freddo and is very refreshing on hot days. For cold frothed milk, use the toothed foam blender on the 🔒 setting.

  • Sprinkle a maximum of 20 g chocolate or cocoa powder into the glass jug (fig. 10).

- Place the lid back on the glass jug (fig. 11).

- Place the glass jug on the heater plate of the appliance base using the handle. Plug the power plug into a suitable wall outlet (fig. 12).

- Touch the sensor button repeatedly until the right symbol lights up in the display:

Stirring and heating (fig. 13)

- The magnet motor will drive the blender element in the glass jug, the heater plate and the glass jug will heat up additionally.

- After approx. 300 to 420 seconds, the appliance will stop automatically and the function symbol will go out. The glass jug now contains delicious hot chocolate you can pour from the jug into a cup. Before doing that, remove the lid from the jug.

- If you wish to switch the appliance off before the automatic stop, simply touch the function button another time.

FINISH FROTHING MILK / MAKING CHOCOLATE

• After making frothed milk, hot milk or hot chocolate, always pull the plug and let the appliance cool down.

- We recommend cleaning the accessories and the motor base right after they have cooled down to prevent milk and chocolate residues from drying up.

- If you wish to use the appliance again, you have to let it cool down completely before.

▲ CLEANING AND CARE

• Always pull the plug and let the appliance cool down before cleaning. Caution: The heater plate and the glass jug are hot after use!

- Remove the blender element from the cool glass jug and rinse it carefully under running water (fig. 14).

- After that, you should hand-wash the jug and the lid in warm water with some mild detergent and a soft sponge or cloth, then re-rinse and carefully dry it (fig. 15). You can clean the jug (not the lid, the blender elements and under no circumstances the motor base) in the top drawer of the dish washer. Over time, this might lead to signs of wear on the material and the print.

- Never use aggressive or abrasive detergents or solutions or any other hard resp. scratching objects to clean parts of the appliance. They might damage the surface.

- Clean the motor base and the heater plate only with a wet cloth. Never submerge the motor base with the power plug and cord in liquid or hold it under running water (fig. 16 and 17).

- Store the spare blender elements in the bottom of the motor base resp. place one blender element back in the glass jug. Like that, they are always at hand (fig. 18).
