For your own safety, please observe the following safety measures when using electrical appliances:

  1. To prevent electric shock, neither the motor base (incl. the surface area for the jug with the contact pin) nor the power cord and the power plug must come into contact with water or other liquids. Danger of electric shock! Should the appliance resp. the power cord or the power plug come into contact with liquid, use dry rubber gloves to immediately pull the power plug out of the socket. Do not use the appliance again until you have had it's ability to function safely checked by Solis or a Solis approved service centre.
  2. Do not operate or unplug the appliance with wet or moist hands or feet.
  3. Before using the appliance, check that the voltage stated on the type plate matches your mains voltage. Do not connect the power plug to a plug board to which other appliances are connected.
  4. Do not leave the power cable hanging over table edges so that it can be pulled. Make sure that it does not come into contact with hot surfaces, such as hotplates or a radiator, or that they come into contact with the appliance.
  5. Keep the appliance away from hot gas, hot ovens and other heat-emitting appliances or heat sources. Never use the appliance on a hot or wet surface. Never place the appliance near moisture, heat and naked flames. Keep the appliance away from moving parts or appliances.

  9. During use, the appliance has to be placed on an moisture resistant, even, clean, stable and dry surface, like a table or work surface. The appliance must not be placed near the edge, as it might vibrate and shift during use. Do not use the appliance outdoors or in moving vehicles or boats.
  10. Always unplug the appliance if it is not in use or left unattended, and before cleaning. This also applies if you move, assemble, disassemble or store the appliance. We recommend the use of a residual current device (RCD safety switch) to provide additional protection during the use of electrical appliances. It is advisable to use a safety switch with a rated residual operating current of 30mA maximum. For professional advice consult an electrician.
  11. Do not make any adjustments to the appliance, cable, plug or accessories.
  12. Improper use creates the risk of injury! No liability is assumed in the case of potential damages or injuries.

  18. Do not shake or relocate the appliance while it is in operation.
  19. Never leave the milk frother unattended while in use.
  20. Only use the appliance as described in this manual. Only use with the provided accessories or accessories recommended by Solis, incorrect accessories can lead to damage of the appliance, resp. to fire, electric shock or personal damage.
  21. Never start the appliance using a remote or timer.
  22. This appliance is only for domestic use and is not suitable for commercial use.
  23. Use the Solis Milk Frother Cremissimo only for frothing or stirring resp. heating milk or hot chocolate. The appliance must not be used for heating or preparing other foods like cream, dessert sauce, meat sauce, soups, eggnog or the like. Similarly, the appliance is not suitable for mixing larger amounts of dry ingredients or melting larger pieces like chocolate cubes, ground nuts, large bits of spices or fresh herbs.
  24. Never use the appliance with an empty jug. The jug always has to be filled with liquid. Fill the jug at least to the MIN marking and to the MAX marking at most.

  25. The outer bottom of the jug must always be completely dry before placing the jug on the motor base.

  26. Remove and discard all packaging materials and potential stickers or labels before using the appliance for the first time.
  27. Check the appliance before each use and ensure that the appliance, power cord and plug are not damaged.
  28. In order to avoid electric shock, do not use the appliance if the power cord or plug are damaged or the appliance is otherwise faulty, dropped or damaged. Never attempt repairs yourself but take your appliance to Solis or a Solis approved service centre in order to get it inspected or mechanically and electrically repaired.

  32. Always check if the jug is correctly placed in the motor base, the frothing disc is firmly connected to the seating pin in the jug, the liquid is filled and the lid resp. measuring cap is closed before starting to use the appliance.

  33. Never move away from the milk frother while the appliance is in use.
  34. Keep the appliance away from children during use - the milk and the stainless steel jug become very hot! Therefore, touch neither the outside of the jug nor the jug contents during and shortly after use. Touch the jug only by the heat-insulated handle!
  35. Use only the included jug with lid as well as the included frothing discs with the appliance. Improper accessories can lead to electric shock, fire or personal damage as well as damage the appliance itself.
  36. Before moving, disassembling, assembling or cleaning the appliance, wait for the appliance to cool down and disconnect the power plug from the socket. If the appliance is not in use, please also disconnect the power plug.

STARTING UP

FROTHING AND HEATING MILK

  1. Place the appliance on a moisture resistant, even, clean and dry as well as heat resistant work surface and connect the power plug to a suitable power outlet. The button surround of the START/STOP button lights up to indicate that the appliance is in standby mode.

Solis Cremissimo 868 - FROTHING AND HEATING MILK - 1

  1. Choose a suitable frothing disc:

Use the "CAPP" frothing disc with teeth (I) for thick, creamy milk froth or the "LATTE" frothing disc without teeth (J) for silkily stirred, only slightly frothed milk.

Solis Cremissimo 868 - FROTHING AND HEATING MILK - 2

Solis Cremissimo 868 - FROTHING AND HEATING MILK - 3
CAPP (I) LATTE (J)

  1. Take the jug off the motor base and push the selected frothing disc onto the seating pin in the milk jug. Push the frothing disc onto the seating pin with the wider end first and press it down to lock it into place. Tip: The magnet makes the frothing disc slide over the seating pin practically by itself, however, the frothing disc still has to be pressed down until you hear a "click", making sure that it is firmly seated.

Solis Cremissimo 868 - FROTHING AND HEATING MILK - 4

Note: Always make sure that the frothing disc is fully locked onto the seating pin, only then can you fill in milk resp. liquid. Should the frothing disc not be firmly seated, it might slide off of the seating pin and not froth resp. stir the milk.

Caution:

The frothing disc is small, therefore it could be swallowed by small children. This makes it necessary that children are always supervised during use to prevent them from taking the frothing disc. Danger of suffocation!

  1. Pour the required amount of cold, fresh milk into the milk jug. Please note the MIN and MAX marking on the inside of the jug, there should not be too little or too much milk in the jug. Close the jug with the lid. The measuring cap should be screwed shut in the lid. The rubber around the lid should air tightly seal the jug.

Solis Cremissimo 868 - Caution: - 1

Note:

To achieve optimal results, you should never exceed the MAX marking CAPP/LATTE MAX (500 ml) on the inside of the jug!

Important:

Always use cold milk and pour at least so much milk into the jug that the MIN marking is exceeded. The milk frother automatically switches off if the milk jug is empty or the amount of milk lies below the MIN marking. Should this be the case, you always have to wait a few minutes until the milk frother has cooled down before using it again.

  1. Place the jug back on the motor base, the outer bottom of the jug as well as the opening in the bottom must be dry and clean.
  2. Turn the START/STOP rotary knob to the desired temperature. If you want to froth resp. stir milk for a cappuccino or a caffe latte, we recommend a temperature setting in the OPTIMUM MILK TEMP range. Of course, different temperature settings fitting personal tastes are also possible. Should you change the temperature setting during use, the appliance heats the jug contents to the newly set temperature.

Solis Cremissimo 868 - Important: - 1

  1. Push the START/STOP button inwards, the button surround flashes and the frothing process starts.

Note:

Never remove the jug from the motor base while the appliance is in use. If you want to stop the operation ahead of time, you can simply press the START/STOP button again.

  1. Once the milk has reached the set temperature, the appliance stops automatically and a twofold signal is sounded. Heating up usually takes between 2 and 7 minutes, depending on the amount of milk and the temperature setting. Wait for the built-in ventilator to stop and pull the power plug. Carefully take the jug out of the motor base by the handle and keep in mind that the jug as well as the milk can be very hot. Do not place the hot jug on a heat sensitive surface, e.g. on plastic or on a tablecloth, as it might melt or be scorched.
  2. Remove the lid and carefully pour the frothed milk into the cup.
  3. Clean the jug with the lid and the measuring cap as well as the frothing discs after every use. The jug with the frothing disc should be cooled down completely before you disassemble it.

Caution:

  • The jug is very hot during and after use! Therefore, never place the hot jug on a heat sensitive surface!
  • Never place the hot jug on the power cord.

ADDITIONING INGREDIENTS

If you want to add ingredients to the milk, the frothing process always has to be running for a few seconds already. You can measure the solid or liquid ingredients off with the measuring cap and gradually pour them into the milk through the lid opening. If you have set the temperature to a range between WARM and HOT, you should wait for a while before adding the ingredients so that the milk can warm up and the ingredients can dissolve more quickly.

Solis Cremissimo 868 - ADDITIONING INGREDIENTS - 1

  • Always add the ingredients to the jug slowly and in small amounts. If you add the ingredients too quickly, the frothing disc could detach from the seating pin or prematurely stop the frothing process.
  • The result of frothing depends on the added ingredients. If you add e.g. solid ingredients like syrup, thick powder or large flakes, the froth will not be as creamy and fluffy.

Notes:

  • The milk frother is not suitable for mixing dry ingredients like ground nuts, whole spices or fresh herbs or for melting large pieces like chocolate cubes. The jug must always be filled up to the MIN marking at least with liquid (milk).
  • The milk frother is designed for frothing and stirring milk, it can not whip cream, prepare dessert sauces or stir soups, eggnog or sauces.

THE COLD STIR FUNCTION

  • With the COLD STIR function, you can froth cold milk or froth milk that is already warm without heating it again. With that, the COLD STIR function allows you to make milk froth for cold drinks like iced cappuccino or caffe latte, stirring in syrup or instant chocolate powder to make iced chocolate or generally stirring instant drinking powder into the milk. Never put ice into the jug!
  • In the COLD STIR function, the appliance is in use for 60 seconds before it stops automatically.

SAFETY FEATURES IN YOUR SOLIS MILK FROther

STANDBY MODE

  • The milk frother switches to standby mode after 30 seconds without use, the button surround stops shining or flashing. To retrieve the appliance from standby mode, you simply have to press the START/STOP button and the appliance starts up. The button surround flashes.

BOIL DRY PROTECTION

  • The milk frother shuts down as soon as the jug overheats. This can happen if the appliance has been switched on without milk in the jug, if the milk in the jug does not reach the MIN marking or if the appliance was used multiple times in a row. In this case, a threefold signal sounds. If this happens, you should disconnect the power plug from the socket, wait for approx. 5 minutes so that the milk frother can cool down or fill the jug with cold water so that it cools down faster. Once the jug has cooled down, you can start using the milk frother again.

THERMAL FUSE PROTECTION

  • Should a larger error occur, the overheating protection is triggered, the appliance shuts down and can not be used again. In this case, pull the plug immediately and bring the appliance to Solis or a service centre authorised by Solis.

CLEANING AND CARE

Clean the cool milk jug with the lid, the measuring cap and frothing disc after every use.

  1. Pull the power plug from the socket before starting cleaning.
  2. As both the jug and the frothing disc are very hot after use, you should let both parts cool down first.
  3. Remove the cool jug with the lid and the frothing disc from the motor base and take off the lid, the measuring cap and the frothing disc.

Solis Cremissimo 868 - CLEANING AND CARE - 1

  1. Clean the jug with the lid and the measuring cap as well as the frothing disc in warm water with a bit of mild dishwashing liquid and a soft sponge or rag. Then, rinse again and dry carefully. You can clean the jug, the lid and the measuring cap in the upper drawer of the dishwasher. The frothing discs are dishwasher safe, too, they might however fall through the grids due to their small size. As a precaution, they should be placed in the small cutlery basket. Note: Cleaning the frothing discs by hand increases their lifespan.
  2. Also clean the outer jug bottom with the opening carefully and make sure that there is no milk residue or soiling in the opening. This could impair or impede the milk frothing process.

Solis Cremissimo 868 - CLEANING AND CARE - 2

  1. Wipe the heating chamber on the motor base as well as the motor base itself with a slightly moist towel to remove potential milk residue. Never submerge the motor base with the power plug and power cord in water or another liquid or hold it under running water.

Solis Cremissimo 868 - CLEANING AND CARE - 3

Note: Always make sure that there is no milk residue or soiling on the sensors (a) in the heating chamber.
7. Store the second frothing disc in the storage device in the rear part of the motor base. Place one of the frothing discs back in the jug. Like this, they are always at hand. Always keep the appliance with the frothing discs out of the reach of children. The frothing discs could be swallowed - danger of suffocation!

Notes:

  • Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents or detergents or any hard resp. scratching or pointed objects to clean parts of the appliance. These might damage resp. scratch the surface.
  • Never submerge the motor base in water or other liquids and generally keep the motor base away from water and liquids.
  • When cleaning the jug and the lid with the measuring cap in the dishwasher, everything should be placed in the upper drawer of the dishwasher.

TIPS AND HINTS

Only use cold, fresh resp. freshly opened milk.
Some kinds of milk produce more milk froth than others. Experiment with different kinds of milk, fat rates and the two frothing discs.
- Frothing works best if you do not exceed the CAPP/LATTE MAX marking, which corresponds to a volume of 500 ml.
- If you want to add ingredients, you should always start the frothing process and warm the milk up before adding the ingredients.
To remove larger bubbles from the milk froth, tap the jug bottom gently onto a flat, heat resistant work surface for a few times.
Slightly sway the frothed milk in the jug in a circular motion before pouring the milk into the cup or glass.
- Pour the milk into the cup resp. the glass right after the frothing process is finished to prevent the milk from separating. Milk that was already frothed should not be reheated if it was not used right away.
Always make sure that the jug as well as the frothing disc are absolutely clean before using them.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem Possible cause Solution
Milk does not froth. The milk is warm or too hot for frothing.Use cold, fresh milk.Do not froth milk that has already been heated and frothed once.Fill less milk into the jug Check if the button surround flashes and does not shine constantly. How much the milk frothes is often determined by the milk itself. Try using a different milk or switch to another kind of milk. The fat rate of the milk might also be responsible. Check which frothing disc works best for you. The frothing disc with teeth frothes the milk more intensively.Adding thick ingredients like syrup, heavy powder or large flakes to the milk can reduce the amount of froth.
Milk does not heat up.Check if the jug is correctly placed in the heating chamber of the motor base.Press the START/STOP button to start the frothing process.Increase the temperature with the START/STOP rotary knob by turning it to the right.
The frothing disc does not move resp. has shifted. The frothing disc is not firmly connected to the seating pin.The frothing disc has shifted during frothing. The ingredients were added too quickly.1. Interrupt the frothing process by pressing the START/STOP button.2. Pour the milk / liquid out of the jug.3. Place the frothing disc correctly on the seating pin and press it down, so that it locks into place with a "click".4. Fill the jug with milk / liquid.5. If desired, add the ingredients slowly and in small amounts to the jug, after the milk has been heated up.
