USER MANUAL 48946 UNOLD
SAFETY INFORMATION TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Please read the following instruc- tions and keep them on hand for later reference.
1. This appliance can be used by
children aged from 8 years and above and persons with redu- ced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the applicance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children wit- hout supervision.
2. Children of less than 3 years
should be kept away unless con- tinuously supervised.
3. Children aged from 3 years and
less than 8 years shall only swith on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concer- ning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.

11. For safety reasons, never place
the appliance on hot surfaces, a metal tray or a wet surface. Do not place the appliance or power cord near open flames during opera- tion.
12. Always use the ice cube maker on
a level, uncluttered surface.19
13. Maintain a distance of at least
15 cm from other objects to ensure sufficient ventilation of the appliance.
14. Make sure that the power cord
does not hang over the edge of the countertop or table, since this can cause accidents, for example if small children pull on the cord.
15. Do not operate or store the ice
cube maker outdoors.
16. Use the appliance only after it has
been properly assembled.
17. Fill the water tank only with clear,
interior of the appliance, to avoid injuries.
19. After unpacking, do not operate
the appliance for at least two hours, to prevent damage to the compressor.
20. Do not switch the appliance on
and off repeatedly, since this can damage the compressor. There- fore, the appliance should be ope- rated for at least three minutes.
21. Switch off the appliance and
unplug it from the power sup- ply before moving it, to prevent damage to the appliance.
22. Do not use the appliance with
accessories of other manufactur- ers or brands, to prevent damage.
23. Unplug the appliance from the
power supply after use and prior to cleaning. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is plugged in to the power supply.
24. Clean the appliance after every
use (see chapter on Cleaning and Care).
25. Never attempt to repair the appli-
ance yourself, since this can result in electric shock.
26. Check the appliance, the plug and
the power cord regularly for wear or damage. In case of damage to the power cord or other parts, ple- ase send the appliance for inspec- tion and repair to our after sales service. Unauthorized repairs can result in serious risks to the user and void the warranty.
27. If the supply cord is damaged, it
must be replaced by the manu- facturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of improper or incorrect use or if repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties. BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE THE FIRST TIME When unpacking the appliance and removing the packaging material, make sure not to tilt the appliance more than 45 °, to prevent damage to the compressor inside the appliance. If you wish to move the appliance, please use the handles on the bottom of the appliance. After unpacking, please do not operate the appliance for at least two hours. The coolant in the appliance has to first settle, to prevent damage to the compressor.

are assembled correctly and the appliance is stable and level.
5. Now connect the power cord to
the back of the appliance.
6. Connect the appliance via the
power cord to the power supply (220–240 V~, 50 Hz).

ice cubes (12) blinks green.20
1. Prepare the appliance as descri-
bed in the section “Before using the appliance the first time”.
2. Remove the ice container (4)
from the appliance by pulling it forward.
3. Fill the water tank with fresh,
clear, cold water to the “Max” marking. Do not fill water past the “Max” marking to prevent water from spilling out. Ice cubes can- not be made from fruit juice. The acid can result in damage.

You can choose from the following sizes: Large ice cubes with a dia- meter of approx. 3 cm Medium ice cubes with a diameter of approx. 2 to 3 cm Small ice cubes with a dia- meter approx. 1.5 to 2 cm
6. To select the size, press the “Ice
cube size” button (8) until the indicator lamp lights up green at the desired size.
7. Press the “Start” button (6).
8. The appliance starts making ice
cubes. The first ice cubes that are made do not have the selected size, since it takes several minu- tes before the appliance reaches the right operating temperature. Therefore, the first ice cubes are somewhat smaller.
9. When the ice container is full, the
symbol (9) lights up red.
11. Remove the ice container and
empty it. Insert the ice contai- ner back into the appliance. If you wish to restart the appliance, press „STOP“ and then „START“.
12. Please note that you have to hold
the ice container slightly slanted when inserting it in the appliance.
13. The ice cube maker automatically
checks the water level in the water tank. When the ice container is full, the display (10) lights up.
14. The appliance automatically stops
making ice cubes. Add water. As soon as enough water has been added, the process continues automatically.
15. You can interrupt the making of
ice cubes any time by pressing the “Stop” button (7).
16. Once you have stopped making
ice cubes, remove the ice contai- ner and empty it. Drain any remai- ning water from the appliance as described in the section “Drai- ning water”.
17. Please remember not to leave the
ice cubes in the ice container too long, since they will start to melt. If you do not wish to use the ice cubes right away, you can store them in the freezer.
18. After use, please leave the ice
cube maker open to prevent the formation of mold or bacteria.
19. The water must be changed after
24 hours at the latest, for reasons of hygiene.21 DRAINING WATER To drain the water from the appliance, please proceed as follows:
1. Turn off the appliance and unplug it
from the power supply.
2. Hold the appliance over a suffici-
ently large bowl or the kitchen sink.
3. Remove the cap on the residual
water drain (5) on the bottom of the appliance.
4. Pull out the drain plug. Please
make sure that the plug does not fall into the sink drain. Our recommendation: place a large sieve over the sink drain or close it with a stopper.
5. Wait until the water has drained
completely from the appliance and then plug the drain again.
6. Make sure not to tilt the appli-
ance too far, to prevent damage to the compressor.

appliance and unplug it from the power supply.
2. Do not immerse the appliance
and power cord in water or other liquids or wash them in the dish- washer.
3. Wipe off the ice cube maker with
a damp cloth. You can clean the ice container with a little warm dishwashing water.
4. The water tank can also be clea-
ned with a damp cloth, if neces- sary.
5. The ice container is not dish-
agents, steel wool, metal objects, hot cleaning agents or disinfec- tants.
7. After use, please leave the ice
cube maker open to prevent the formation of mold or bacteria.
8. The appliance and power plug
must be completely dry before the appliance can be operated again.
9. When completely dry, store the
ice cube maker in a dry, safe place so that it is protected from dust, shocks, heat and mois-ture.22 TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Cause Solution The compressor hums very loudly. The voltage is too low. Switch off the appliance and check whether it is connected to a 220– 240 V~ wall socket. Indicator lamp shows that the ice container is full, even though it is not full. The room temperature is too cool. Remove the ice container and push it back into the appliance. Pieces of ice are jammed. Switch the appliance off. Empty the ice container and restart the appliance. If the problem persists, contact our customer service department. The sensor is defective. Contact our customer service department. Indicator lamp shows that the water level is too low, even though there is enough water. The water is not conductive enough. Add a pinch of salt to the water in the water tank. Indicator lamp for low water level is out, even though there is no water in the tank. The water is not conductive enough. Switch the appliance off. Clean the water tank thoroughly and restart the appliance. The sensor is defective. Contact our customer service department. No indicator lamp lights up when you plug the appliance into the wall socket. The appliance is not connected correctly. Check to make sure that the plug was inserted correctly into the wall socket. A component is defective. Contact our customer service department. The indicator lamps for insufficient water and full ice container blink red at the same time. An oversized ice cube is blocking the evaporator. Switch the appliance off. Wait until the ice has melted. Start the appliance again and select a smaller ice cube size. The motor in the appliance is defective. Contact our customer service department. The appliance is working, but does not make ice. Coolant is leaking. Contact our customer service department.23 GUARANTEE CONDITIONS
WASTE DISPOSAL / ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Our appliances are produced on a high quality level for a long lifetime. Regular maintenance and expert repairs by our after-sales service can extend the useful life of the appliance. If an appliance is defective and repair is not possible we ask you to follow the following instructions for disposal. Do not dispose this appliance together with your standard household waste. Please bring this product to an approved collection point for recycling of electric and electronic products. By separate collection and disposal of waste products you help to protect natural resources and ensure, that the product is disposed in an adequate way to protect health and environment. We grant a 24 months guarantee, and in case of commercial use a 12 months guarantee, starting from the date of purchase for any damage demonstrably due to manufacturing defects and when the appliance has been used according to its intended use. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workmanship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. For other countries, please contact the re- sponsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged and postage paid, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. If the defect is covered by the warranty, the customer will be reimbursed for the shipping costs only in Germany and Austria. The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
