  • Electric operating panel with thermostat and temperature light & power light

  • Reset button with reset pen (at the back) Assembly:
  • The appliance must be cooled down before assembly.
  • Do not put the plug in the socket during assembly
  • Place the removable tank in the appliance.
  • Place the filter on the bottom of the removable tank.
  • Fit the electric operating panel on the appliance. Positioning:
  • There should be enough space around the appliance to let the heat escape.
  • Make sure there is enough ventilation.
  • Place the appliance on a stable and level surface. DEEP-FRY SAFELY!
  • Always unplug the appliance when it is not in use or when you are servicing the appliance.
  • The plastic part of the handle can melt if it comes into contact with hot oil or liquid fat. Do not, therefore, immerse the handle of the basket in hot oil or liquid fat. If this does happen, the oil or liquid fat must immediately be replaced.
  • Beware of spatters. Prevent spatters. See further down in this document.
  • Beware of hot parts. The accessible surfaces can get hot when the deep fryer is in use.
  • Make sure your hands are dry before you touch the appliance.
  • Do not move the appliance when the power is on, when the housing is still hot or when the oil or liquid fat is still hot.
  • Clean the appliance and accessories. See “Cleaning and servicing”. SPATTERS The deep fryer has a ‘cold zone’. This zone is located in the bottom of the appliance. The ‘cold zone’ is a zone into which the larger bits of food sink. The lower temperature in this zone prevents the bits of food from burning. Deep fryers with a ‘cold zone’ are sensitive to water, because the heating element is immersed in oil or liquid fat. There are various ways in which water can come into contact with the oil or liquid fat:
  • A lot of food naturally contains water. This applies especially to potatoes.
  • Condensation from hot steam.
  • Frozen food can contain ice particles.
  • The food was not dried properly after it was washed.
  • The removable tank was not properly dried after it was cleaned.
  • The wrong type of oil or liquid fat is used. See General Tips. If water comes into contact with hot oil or liquid fat, there could be excessive spattering, foaming or even overflowing. To prevent this as far as possible, a special safety filter was developed to further decrease the temperature of the ‘cold zone’ resulting in greater distribution of the water particles.
  • Try as far as possible to prevent water from coming into contact with the hot oil or liquid fat as a result of one of the above mentioned causes.
  • Change the oil or liquid fat regularly.
  • Clean the safety filter regularly. Make sure that the openings in the safety filter are not obstructed. USE
  • First fully unfold the handle of the basket outwards until it locks into place. Make sure that, when folded, the handle does not hang in the oil or fat, as this could damage the plastic handle.
  • Fill the removable tank with oil or liquid fat. Make sure that the level of the oil or liquid fat is between the minimum and maximum markings on the tank.

9• Insert the plug into the socket at this point, and not before.

  • The appliance is switched on by turning the thermostat to the desired temperature. The temperature can be set between 150°C and 190°C. Please refer to the food packaging for the desired temperature and cooking time. See General Tips for guidelines on selecting the right temperature.
  • While the appliance is on, the temperature light will go on and off. The appliance is fitted with a thermostat which keeps the oil or liquid fat at the desired temperature. The temperature indicator light will remain on while the deep fryer heats the oil or liquid fat. The temperature indicator light will go off once the oil or liquid fat has reached the desired temperature.
  • Allow the appliance to preheat for approximately 15 minutes with the oil or liquid fat at the desired temperature.
  • Put the food in the basket and subsequently place the basket in the appliance. Be extra careful and watch out for spatters. Then put the lid on the appliance.
  • Check regularly whether the level of the oil or liquid fat is between the minimum and maximum markings on the tank. Do not put too much food in the basket. If necessary, add oil or liquid fat. As soon as the food is done:
  • Shake the basket using the handle to remove excess oil or liquid fat.
  • Leave the basket to rest for a while on the hook of the removable tank to remove excess oil or fat.
  • Empty the basket on a plate or dish, or similar, using the handle.
  • Switch the appliance off after using it, unplug it and wait for the appliance to cool down.
  • When the appliance is not being used, store it in a dry place.
  • Make sure that children do not have access to stored appliances. GENERAL TIPS
  • Only use oil or liquid fat. The appliance is not suitable for solid fat.
  • Use a vegetable oil, such as ground nut oil, corn oil or soya oil for the most tasty results.
  • For the healthiest results, thaw the food before use and frequently replace the oil or liquid fat.
  • Deep-fry precooked chips only once.
  • To prevent poor frying results, do not place too much food in the basket.
  • Always replace the oil or liquid fat after deep- frying raw food such as chicken legs.
  • After using the deep fryer, sift the food remains from the oil or liquid fat. It will keep the oil or liquid fat fresh much longer.
  • Always pre-fry fresh chips. Deep-fry the chips approx. 5 10 minutes at 170°C. Shake the chips loose and leave them to cool in a dish for a short while. Then deep-fry the chips again approx. 2-4 minutes at 175°C. Deep-fry temperature Item Temperature (°C) Chips (pre-fry) 170 Chips (finish off) 175 Cheese croquettes 170 Potato croquettes 175 Meat croquettes 175 Fish croquettes 175 Fish 170 Fish fingers 180 Cheese frittera 180 Frinkandel sausages 180 Chicken 170

HOW TO RESET THE APPLIANCE

The deep fryer can be reset as follows if the appliance doesn’t work. The cause is often the use of solid fat or too little oil. The overheating protection switches the heating element off when this occurs. The safety system can be restored as follows:

  • Press the reset button at the front of the electric operating panel with the reset pen to reset the appliance.
  • Check whether the operating panel is securely fastened to the baseboard on the housing. The deep fryer has a safety switch that switches off the heating element when it is not properly fixed to the pan.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
