This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental ca- pabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or in- struction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and un- derstand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. DANGER TO LIFE! Do not use the product if you have a heart pacemaker. Do not use the product in the vicinity of persons who have a heart pacemaker or use other medical devices.

JURY! Do not load the scales beyond 180 kg. The safety glass could break and cause cut inju- ries.

INJURY! Do not step on to the scales with wet feet and do not use the scales if the platform is moist. Otherwise you could slip. Protect your scales from impact, moisture, dust, chemicals and sudden changes in temperature and keep them away from sources of heat (ovens, heating radiators). Check the device for damage before bringing it into use. If the device is damaged do not use it. Remove the battery if the device breaks down or is defective. Otherwise there is an increased risk of leaking. Never open the housing of the device. This could result in per- sonal injury or damage to the device. Always have any repairs carried out at the service centre or by an electrical equipment repair specialist. The product is not suitable for use by pregnant women.8 GB/IE Warning! Dangers arising from the use of batteries DANGER TO LIFE! Batteries are not in- tended for children. Do not leave batteries lying around. They may otherwise be swallowed by children or pets. If accidentally swallowed seek immediate medical attention. CAUTION! EXPLO- SION HAZARD! Never recharge single-use batteries. Do not short-circuit or open them. The battery may overheat, ignite or explode. Never throw batteries into fire or water. The batteries could explode. Avoid extreme environ- mental conditions and temperatures as they may affect batteries e.g. above radiators. Otherwise there is an increased risk of leaking. Exhausted or damaged batteries can cause caustic burns upon contact with the skin. To avoid this, always wear suitable protective gloves in these circumstances! Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and mucous membranes if fluid has leaked from the battery. In the event of contact with battery acid, thoroughly flush the affected area with clean water and seek immediate medical attention. Remove light dirt from the bat- tery and product contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth before insert- ing the batteries. Remove the battery from the device if it is not going to be used for a prolonged period. When inserting the battery, en- sure the correct polarity! This is shown in the battery compart- ment. Remove a spent battery immedi- ately from the device. There is an increased risk of leaks! Batteries must not be disposed of in the normal domestic waste! Every consumer is legally obliged to dispose of batteries in the proper manner! Keep batteries away from chil- dren. Do not throw batteries into a fire. Never short-circuit them or take them apart. If the above instructions are not complied with, the battery may discharge itself beyond its end voltage. This will then pose a risk of leaking. If the battery has leaked inside your device, you should remove it immediately in9 GB/IE order to prevent damage to the device! Before getting started Note: Hold the UP button

Inserting / replacing the battery The product is supplied with a battery already in place. Before the first use, pull the battery insulation strip out from between the battery and the battery compartment

If the scales do not appear to work, check that the battery has been inserted correctly and reinsert it if necessary. Note: The display indicates when it is time to replace the battery. When you step on to the scales and the battery is too weak, the LC dis- play

shows „Lo“ and the scales switch off automatically. If you see this message, replace the exhausted battery with a new battery of the same type. When you insert the battery, make sure that the contacts do not get bent. Bringing into use Enter your personal data

After you have made the settings, the display will return automatically to the selection of the User ID. You can either make settings for further users or measure your body weight. Note: The scales switch off automatically after about 10 seconds if they are not used. Use Measuring the body weight Tip: Weigh yourself at the same time of day (pref- erably in the morning) after visiting the toilet, with an empty stomach and without clothing to ensure that your results are compatible. Place the scales down on a solid, flat horizontal surface. Step onto the platform

and do not move. Moving during the weighing process can lead to discrepancies in the results. The scales will start to measure immediately. After blinking twice, the weight display will show the result. Note: The scales are overloaded if the display shows “Err”. Observe the maximum capacity of 180 kg / 396 lbs / 28 st. Step off the platform. The scales switch off automatically after about 20 seconds. Until then the weight measurement remains visible. Note: The standard unit of weight is kilogram (kg). The factory default setting for the scales as supplied is “kg”. For model 103803-14-01 / 103803-14-02,10 GB/IE press the kg / lb / st button

to choose between the units kg / lb / st:lb. For model Z31332B, press the SET button

The weight measurement is beginning; remain standing on the two electrodes. The measure- ment lasts a few seconds (display indication - - -). The LC display then shows the measured values three times alternating between two groups. Group 1: Percentage of body fat

Group 2: Percentage of muscles

and calorie requirement

Note: The display will show Err2, if you do not stand on the two electrodes during weighing, or if the total weight is above the weighing range. The scales switch off automatically after these values have been displayed. Calibration of scales Note: The scales must be re-calibrated whenever they are moved or after every battery replacement. To do this, proceed as follows: Step on to the scales. The scales will show you an incorrect measuring result. Step off the platform

once again. The scales will calibrate automatically. Wait until the scales switch off automatically. Step onto the scales once again. The scales will show you the correct measuring result.

Meaning of the interpreted values LC display Meaning thin normal overweight extremely overweight Trouble-shooting The device contains delicate electronic components. This means that if it is placed near an object that transmits radio signals, it could cause interference. If the display indicates a problem, move such objects away from it. Electrostatic discharges can lead to malfunctions. In cases of the appliance failing to work, remove the batteries for a short while and then replace them.11 GB/IE Cleaning Do not use chemical cleaners or scouring agents for cleaning the device. Never immerse the device in water or other liquids. Ignoring this advice may damage the device. Clean the device using a slightly moist cloth. For more stubborn dirt you can also apply a weak soap solution to the cloth. Disposal The packaging is made from environ- mentally-friendly materials, which may be disposed through your local recycling facilities. Contact your local refuse disposal authority for more details on how to dispose of your worn-out product. To help protect the environment, please dispose of the product properly when it has reached the end of its useful life and not in the household waste. Information on collection points and their opening hours can be obtained from your local authority. Defective or used batteries must be recycled in accordance with Directive 2006 / 66 / EC. Return batteries and / or the device to a local recycling facility.
