Cleaning and Care

NOTES

  • Do not use any toxic, corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents or scouring sponges to clean the device. These can damage the surface.

  • Empty the permanent filter (10) or the filter paper used after each use.

  • Clean the permanent filter and the filter insert (9) with mild detergent and warm water or in the dishwasher.
  • Clean the glass jug (8) after each use with mild detergent and warm water. It must not be placed in the dishwasher.
  • If necessary, wipe down the coffee bean compartment (2) and the lid (1) with a damp cloth.
  • Wipe down the housing with a damp cloth. If necessary, use a little mild detergent to remove any stubborn residues.
  • Check the connecting cable regularly for any damage.

Cleaning the Glass Jug Thoroughly

Coffee grounds and coffee oil residues can contaminate glass jugs over time. They should therefore be thoroughly cleaned regularly (at least every 4 weeks).

We recommend that you do this using BEEM premium cleaning tablets. They will remove the residues quickly and easily. In addition, the cleaning tablets are gentle on the material and guarantee food-safe and environmentally friendly cleaning - ensuring an authentic coffee flavour. BEEM premium cleaning tablets can be obtained from selected specialist stockists, directly via our website www.beem.de or from our customer service department on request.

Cleaning with the BEEM Premium Cleaning Tablets

  1. Dissolve one cleaning tablet in water at 60 - 70^
  2. Pour the solution into the glass jug (8).
  3. Move the glass jug slowly in circular motions to ensure that the inside is wetted with the cleaning solution.
  4. Let the cleaning solution take effect for a few minutes.
  5. Empty the jug and rinse it thoroughly several times with clear water.

Caution! The BEEM cleaning tablets do not have any descending effect!

Dscaling

Limescale deposits have an adverse effect not only on the quality of the coffee and the water, but they also cause power losses and shorten the lifespan of the device. The thicker a limescale layer is, the more difficult it is to remove.

We therefore recommend regularly removing limescale deposits with a descending agent in accordance with the water quality in your area and how often the device is used (approx. every 2 - 6 weeks).

The first indications that descending is required are a large amount of steam being produced and slower brewing of the coffee.

For descending we recommend the BEEM premium descaler concentrate. The efficient, food-safe and environmentally friendly BEEM premium descaler concentrate is available from selected specialist stockists, via our website www.beem.de or from our customer service department on request.

Dscaling with the BEEM Premium Descaler Concentrate

  1. Fill the water tank (6) up to the MAX marking with a concentrate/water solution of no more than 1:20 (one part concentrate to 20 parts water).
  2. Use the button 2-12 (19) to set the number of cups to 2.
  3. Press the button to switch on the device. Allow the two cups to run through.
  4. Let the remaining descending solution in the water tank take effect for a little while.
  5. Use the button 2-12 to set the number of cups to 10.
  6. Press the button to switch on the device and allow the rest of the solution to run through.
  7. Then rinse the device at least twice by allowing complete tankfuls (12 cups) of clear water to run through. The device is now descaled and ready to be used again.

Storage

Disconnect the device from the mains power when you are not going to use it for a prolonged period. Clean the device again if necessary (see the "Cleaning and Care" chapter) and let it dry completely.

Store the device and all accessories in a dry, clean, frost-free place that is protected from direct sunlight and is out of the reach of children and animals.
