Operation

Switching on the appliance

NOTE

Make sure that the temperature selection switch (2) is turned clockwise to the "O" position until it stops.

Place the kettle onto the cordless socket (1).

Insert the plug into the mains socket. ◆ The power indicator light (11) indicates that the appliance is ready for operation.

Switch on the appliance by turning the temperature selection switch (2) clockwise to the desired position.

Setting the temperature

The temperature selection switch (2) enables stepless setting of the water temperature. You have the choice between the following settings: warm, hot and boil.

Warm/hot/boil

If you move the temperature selection switch (2) to the "●", "●●"" or "●●●" position, the water is heated to the corresponding temperature.

The heating indicator light (12) is switched on and indicates that the appliance is heating. After reaching the temperature, the thermostat switches off the heating and the heating indicator light (12) extinguishes. If the temperature of the water sinks, the thermostat switches on the heating again.

Continuous boiling

Fill the kettle (3) with the desired ◆ amount of fresh water.

NOTE

Observe the filling level indicator (10). Do not fill up over the MAX mark and not under the MIN mark (refer to illustration A1).

Place the lid (13) onto the kettle (3). ◆

Place the kettle (3) onto the cordless socket (1).

Insert the plug into the mains socket.

Turn the temperature selection switch (2) clockwise to the " heating function to boil the water.

NOTE

With this setting, the thermostat does not switch the heating off and the water continues to boil.

Switching off the appliance

To switch the appliance off, proceed as follows:

Turn the temperature selection switch (2) clockwise until it stops at the "O" position.

NOTE

The power indicator light (11) re-▶ mains lighted.

◆ Pull the plug out of the mains socket if the appliance is not used for prolonged periods.

Resetting the dry run protection

If you have filled the kettle with too little water or switched on an empty appliance, the dry run protection will switch of the appliance automatically. The power indicator light (11) extinguishes.

To reset the dry run protection, proceed as follows:

Pour fresh water into the kettle (3). ◆

Continue to use the appliance as usual.

Brewing tea according to the "Samovar principle"

Black tea

Fill the kettle (3) with the desired ◆ amount of fresh water.

NOTE

▶ Observe the filling level indicator (10). Do not fill up over the MAX mark and not under the MIN mark (refer to illustration A1).

◆ Fill the tea strainer (5) with tea leaves (approx. 1 tea spoon per cup)

◆ Put the tea strainer (5) into the teapot (4) or put the tea bag directly into the teapot (4) (1 tea bag for approx. 1-2 cups).
Place the teapot (4) onto the kettle (3). The teapot is then warmed up at the same time.
Allow the water in the kettle (3) to boil as described in the section Continuous boiling.
◆ Remove the teapot (4) from the kettle (3).

NOTE

Condensed water may drip off the teapot bottom.

Place the teapot (4) onto a heat-resistant surface.

Open the lid (6) of the teapot (4) with the lid opener (7).

Pour the boiling water from the kettle (3) over the tea.

NOTE

Fill the teapot with a maximum of 0.7 litre.

The more tea leaves or tea bags and the less water you use in the teapot, the stronger the tea concentrate will be (professionals enjoy the infusion with exactly 2.86 g of tea per cup). It is preferable to use slightly more tea so that a real concentrate is produced in the teapot.

Put the teapot (4) containing the tea concentrate back onto the kettle (3).

NOTE

The steam circulating in the water tank keeps the tea in the teapot at exactly the temperature it needs to "steep".

Pour the tea out of the teapot after ◆ the desired steeping time,. If you have used the tea strainer (5), remove the tea strainer containing the tea (see illustration A2).

Fill the kettle (3) again with fresh water and allow the water to heat up.

Turn the temperature selection switch (2) clockwise to the "●●●", position to keep the water hot.

Pour the concentrate out of the teapot (4) into your tea glass (as much as desired) and subsequently fill your glass with the water from the kettle. This allows you to vary the strength and taste of your tea.

NOTE

The teapot can be left standing on the water tank while the kettle is in operation so that hot tea and hot water can be poured out at any time.

Green tea

To prepare green tea, proceed as described in the chapter Black tea. Pay attention to the following differences:

Amount:

Fill the tea strainer (5) of the teapot (4) with tea leaves (roughly 1 g per 100 ml or roughly 1 level teaspoon for 200 ml of water) or put the tea bag directly into the teapot (4) (use the amount specified by the manufacture).

When the water has boiled:

Warm up the cups by filling with a little hot water. The teapot was already warmed up by placing it on the water tank during the boiling process.

turn the temperature selection switch (2) back to the "●●" position and allow the water to cool for approximately 5-6 minutes. Pour the warm water from the kettle over the tea.

Steeping time

Allow normal green tea to steep for 1-3 minutes and high-quality green tea for 1 - 1.5 minutes.

Notes on herbal tea

In rare cases, herbal tea mixtures may contain germs that are normally killed off when heated over a prolonged period. If not properly brewed, they can become a health risk for babies, small children and sick people.

Brewed tea must not be allowed to stand for several hours because although the germs are killed off by the boiling water, the spores in the tea can survive. These can germinate in the warm water.

Cleaning and care

Before beginning, pay attention to the safety instructions in the section Safety!

Cleaning

Kettle

Clean the inside of the kettle with a soft brush on a long stick and rinse it out.

Wipe the housing with a damp cloth. Use washing-up liquid to remove any stubborn stains. Subsequently dry off with a soft cloth.

Teapot

Clean the teapot (4) with the lid (6) ■ with washing-up liquid after each use and rinse afterwards with fresh water.

NOTE

The teapot can also be cleaned in the dishwasher.

Tea strainer

Clean the tea strainer (5) with a soft brush and warm water after each use.

NOTE

The tea strainer can not be cleaned in the dishwasher.

Care of stainless steel parts

We recommend using INOX-METAL-POLISH from Beem for regular maintenance and the removal of difficult stains from stainless steel surfaces. The polish restores appliances to their original shine. INOX-METAL-POLISH is available in tubes and is suitable for pots as well as for other objects made of stainless steel, chromium, brass, copper, aluminium, silver and also hard plastics. INOX-METAL-POLISH is used in factories for polishing stainless steel. You can obtain INOX-METAL-POLISH from your retailer or by phoning us or visiting our website at www.beem.de.

Descaling

In order not to decrease the service life of the kettle (3), it must be descaled at regular intervals.

The descaling intervals depend on the water hardness and the frequency of use. Calcium deposits can be recognized by the staining on the inside of the kettle (3).

NOTE

If the kettle (3) is strongly scaled, the dry run protection is triggered and the appliance is switched off.

To descale the kettle (3) proceed as follows:

Fill the kettle (3) up to the MAX mark with a mixture of fresh water and descaling solution.

NOTE

Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer for the dosage and contact time.

Empty the kettle (3), rinse with clear water and wipe the inside with a damp cloth.

Fill the kettle (3) with fresh water up to the MAX mark, allow the water to boil and pour it out.

Repeat the process.

Storage

If you do not intend to use the appliance for a longer period of time, empty and clean it as described in the section Cleaning and care. Store the appliance and all accessory parts in a dry, clean and frost-free place which is protected against direct sunlight.
