Preface Dear customer, You made the right decision with the purchase of the MS 61 / MS 62 / MS 80 / MS 85 milk frother. You have acquired an established quality product. We thank you for your purchase and wish you much pleasure with your new milk frother. Intended use This unit is not intended for commer- cial usage. Use the unit solely in closed rooms to froth milk. This unit is intended to be used in households and similar applications such as ■ in employee tea kitchens, in retail shops, in ofces and other commercial areas; ■ in agricultural premises; ■ by guests in hotels, motels and other residential facilities; ■ in bed and breakfasts. Any other use or use beyond and above that is considered non-intended usage. All claims of any type due to non-in- tended usage are excluded. The risk is borne solely by the operator. Limitation of liability All technical information, data and instructions for installation, operation and care included in these operating instructions accord with the latest state at the time of printing and have been made to the best of our knowledge with consideration of our previous ex- periences and insights. No claims can be derived from the information, illustrations and descrip- tions in these instructions. This unit complies with the statutory safety regulations. Improper use can, however, lead to personal injury and property damage. Danger from electric current Warning Danger to life due to electric cur- rent! Touching live wires or components is mortally dangerous! Follow the safety instructions below to prevent hazards from electric current: ■ Do not use the unit if the pow- er cord or plug is damaged.8
WARNING Follow the safety instructions below to prevent hazards from electric current: ■ Do not use the unit if the pow- er cord or plug is damaged. ■ Before using the unit, have a new connector cable installed by the Graef customer service department or an authorised specialist. ■ Never open the unit housing under any circumstances. If live connections are touched and the electrical or mechani- cal structure changes, there is a danger of electric shock. ■ Never touch any parts that are conducting electricity. They can cause an electric shock or even lead to death. Basic safety instructions To handle the unit safely, follow the in- structions below: ■ Check the unit for external, visible damage to the housing, the connector cable and the plug before using it. Do not put a damaged unit into operation. ■ Repairs are only allowed to be per- formed by a specialist or by the Graef customer service department. Improp- er repairs can lead to extreme hazards for the user. Furthermore, the warranty claim expires. ■ Only Graef customer service is author- ised to repair the unit during the war- ranty period, otherwise the warranty expires for subsequent damages. ■ Defective components must be re- placed solely with genuine spare parts. Fullment of the safety regulations is only guaranteed if these parts are used. ■ This unit is not intended for use by peo- ple (including children) with restricted physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or who have a lack of experience and/ or lack of knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received instruc- tions from that person about how to use the unit. ■ Children should be supervised to en- sure that they do not play with the unit. ■ Use the unit only together with the supplied base station. ■ Always pull the supply line from the electric socket using the connector plug, not on the connector cable. ■ Do not carry the unit by the connector cable. ■ Use the unit only when it is standing upright; never put the unit into op- eration if is lying on its side or upside down. ■ The unit is not intended to be used with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system. ■ Be especially careful when opening the cap; the contents in the unit tank can squirt out. ■ Do not move the unit while it is switched on. While moving, hot liquid can escape from the unit. ■ Switch the unit off before cleaning and pull the power cord from the electric socket. ■ Let the unit cool off before cleaning. ■ Do not use any aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents and do not use any solvents. ■ Do not scratch off stubborn soiling with hard objects. ■ Never immerse the unit base, the tank, the connection cable or the connection plug into water or any other uid. ■ Do not clean the unit or any of its parts in a dishwasher. ■ Do not use the packing material as a toy. ■ Follow the instructions regarding the requirements for the place of instal- lation and on the unit’s electrical con- nection to prevent personal harm and property damage. ■ Never touch rotating parts of the unit. ■ Never put objects or body parts in the unit while it is running. ■ Never leave the unit unsupervised dur- ing operation. ■ Fill the unit only up to the respec- tive mark. If overlled, hot liquid can emerge from the tank. Unpacking To unpack the unit, proceed as below: ■ Take the unit out of the carton. ■ Remove all pieces of the packing. ■ Remove any possibly extant labels from the unit (do not remove the rating plate). Requirements for the installation location For safe and awless operation of the unit, the place of location must meet these prerequisites: ■ The unit must be set up on a rm, at, level, non-slip and heat resistant base that has sufcient load bearing capac- ity. ■ Select the place of location so that chil- dren cannot reach the hot surfaces of the unit. ■ The unit is not intended for installation in a wall or a built-in cupboard. ■ Do not set up the unit in a hot, wet or moist environment. ■ The electric socket must be readily ac- cessible so that the power cord can be easily unplugged. Electric connection Follow these instructions about the electrical connection for safe and aw- less operation of the unit: ■ Before connecting the unit, compare the connection information (voltage and frequency) on the rating plate with those of your electrical network. This information must match to avoid dam- age to the unit. If in doubt, ask your electrician. ■ The socket must be fused with at least a 10A circuit breaker. ■ Make sure that the power cord is not damaged. Do not conduct it over hot surfaces or sharp edges. ■ The connector cable must not be pulled tight. ■ The electrical safety of the unit is only ensured if it is connected to a prop- erly installed protective conductor system. Operation on a socket with- out a protective conductor is prohib- ited. If in doubt, have the building installation checked by an electrician. The manufacturer does not assume any responsibility for damages caused by a missing or interrupted protective con- ductor. Before the rst use Remove the protective cap between the base station and the tank. Before using the unit for the rst time, clean as described in the Cleaning chapter. IMPORTANT! Let the unit cool off between uses. Making milk froth Connect the unit to the mains supply: ■ Remove the cap and insert the attach- ment for warm or cold milk froth. ■ Fill the desired amount of milk in the tank. IMPORTANt! Comply with the “max” mark. Never ll any more milk than that into the tank. Frothed milk ex- pands; if the lling level is too high it will overow the tank. ■ Put the cap on the tank. ■ Start preparation by pressing the corre- sponding “on” button. The LED is illu- minated as long as the unit is running. IMPORTANT! Preparation stops automatically after 60 - 90 seconds, depending on the lling level. ■ Open the cap after preparation has n- ished and pull it up. ■ Pour or ladle the milk froth into a cup or glass. ■ After using the unit, clean it as de- scribed in the Cleaning Warming up milk Warming up milk differs from making milk froth in the following points: ■ Remove the attachment for milk froth. ■ Fill the desired amount of milk in the stainless steel tank. ■ The rest of the steps are identical to making warm milk froth. Cleaning ■ Clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, moist cloth. If heavily soiled, a mild detergent can be used. ■ Rinse out the tank with hot water after use. If there is stubborn soiling in the inside of the stainless steel tank, wash it out with a soap solution and rinse thoroughly. Disposal At the end of its service life, this prod- uct must not be disposed through nor- mal domestic waste; rather it must be disposed at a collection point for recy- cling electronic domestic refuse. The symbol on the product and in the op- erating instructions points this out. The materials can be recycled in accordance with their markings. By recycling, mak- ing use of the materials or other forms of recycling old units you are making an important contribution to protect- ing our environment.
