USER MANUAL SWM 5 TEAM

Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance.
Check that your mains voltage corresponds to that stated on the appliance.
Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use. Keep out of reach of children or incompetent persons.
From time to time check the cord for damages. Never use the appliance if cord or appliance shows any signs of damage but have it checked and repaired by a competent qualified service. Should the cord be damaged, it must be replaced by a competent qualified service (^*)
Only use the appliance for domestic purposes and in the way indicated in these instructions.
Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever. Never place it into the dishwasher.
Never use the appliance near hot surfaces.
Before cleaning, always unplug the appliance from the power supply.
Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry environment.
Never use accessories which are not recommended by the producer. They could constitute a danger to the user and risk to damage the appliance.
Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it.
Stand the appliance on a table or flat surface.
Make sure the appliance has cooled down before cleaning and storing it.

USE

Protective coating burn off will cause smoking on first use. This is NOT harmful.
- When using for the first time, wipe the surface of the plates with a damp cloth, then dry.
- Place the desired plates in the appliance by pressing the button 1 near the handle (see picture on page 2). You may season the plates with butter, margarine or cooking fat but since the appliance has a non-stick surface, the use of butter or oil is optional.
- Close the appliance.
Plug into the electrical outlet. The red pilot light will come to indicate that the appliance is switched on and heating.
The pilot light will come out when the cooking temperature is reached. During use, this pilot light will come on and off regularly. This simply means that the thermostat is regulating the appliance's temperature.
- Attention: during the functioning, parts 2 (see picture on page 2) become hot. Pay attention not to get burned.

!! TO AVOID BURNS, WAIT UNTIL THE APPLIANCE HAS TOTALLY COOLED DOWN BEFORE CHANGING THE PLATES.

Sandwich maker mode (see picture A on page 2)

Prepare your sandwich while the unit is heating.
Fully open the sandwich maker. Place a slice of bread in the bottom half with the buttered side against the plate.
- Fill the sandwich.
- Add the top slice with the buttered side up and carefully close the appliance. Do not force shut. Steam will be ejected from between the plates; make sure that fingers do not come into contact with it.
- Lock the two halves with the wire clip while toasting.
- Your sandwich will be toasted in 2 to 3 min or longer to suit your taste. Open the appliance and remove sandwich using a plastic or wooden spatula. Never use a metal knife as this may damage the non-stick coating.
- Close the lid to preserve the heat until you are ready to toast the next sandwiches.
Prepare additional sandwiches if desired while the others are cooking.
Unplug when finished.

Grill mode (see picture C on page 2)

  • When the appliance has reached the desired temperature, open it and lightly brush grids with butter, margarine or cooking oil to avoid that the foods stick to the plates.
  • Put the foods on the grill plate. Make sure the foods are not too thick, so that you can close the appliance. The cooking time depends on the type of food you are grilling. To avoid burning the foods, check regularly during the cooking process.
  • To remove the food from the grill, use wooden or plastic tools. Never use sharp tools as they might cause damage to the grill.
  • When grilling is finished, unplug the appliance and leave it open to allow it to cool down.

Waffle maker mode (see picture B on page 2)

  • Pour batter evenly onto the bottom grid but not all the way to the edges. Close the grids and press them briefly so that the batter spreads over the plates. Never put too much dough, as it might overflow along the edges.
  • Bake until golden brow, about 3 minutes.

  • Remove the waffles with a plastic or wood spatula. Never use sharp objects, as these might damage the non-stick coating.

  • When you have finished baking, unplug the cord from the outlet.

CLEANING

Before cleaning, unplug and wait for the appliance and the plates to cool down.
- Wipe the outside with only a slightly moistened cloth ensuring that no moisture, oil or grease enters the cooling slots.
To clean the plates you can let them in the appliance or remove them from the appliance (therefore press on the button 1 near the handle and remove them (see picture). If you let them in the appliance, wipe the plates with a damp cloth or towel. If you remove them from the appliance, you can wash them under running water. Dry them afterwards. Never put the plates in the dishwasher.
- Do not clean the inside or outside with any abrasive scouring pad or steel wool as this will damage the finish.
- Do not immerse in water or any other liquid.
