How to use the appliance for the first time?

Before first use, wipe the appliance with a damp cloth. A harmless release of smoke may occur during the first heating of the non-stick coating. Let it heat empty for a few minutes, then let it cool before using.

How to change the plates?

To remove the plates, press the release button located near the handle, then remove the plates. To install, insert the fixing lugs into the slots provided and press the front until it clicks. Wait for the appliance to cool completely before changing plates.

How long to cook a sandwich?

The cooking time for a sandwich is 2 to 3 minutes, adjustable to your taste. Open the appliance and remove the sandwich using a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damaging the non-stick coating.

Can the plates be washed in the dishwasher?

No, never put the plates in the dishwasher. The removable plates can be washed under running water, but they must be dried thoroughly before putting them back. The exterior of the appliance should be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth.

What to do if the cord is damaged?

If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a competent qualified service (after-sales service of the manufacturer or importer, or a qualified person) to avoid any danger. Do not use the appliance with a damaged cord.

Why does the green light turn on and off regularly?

This is normal. The green indicator lights up when the desired temperature is reached. During use, it turns off and on regularly, meaning the thermostat regulates the temperature of the appliance.

Can I use metal utensils on the plates?

No, never use metal instruments as they could damage the non-stick coating. Only use a wooden or plastic spatula specially designed to withstand heat.

How to clean the exterior of the appliance?

Unplug the appliance and wait for it to cool. Wipe the exterior with a slightly damp cloth, making sure that moisture, oil or grease does not seep into the cooling vents.

What to do if the appliance smokes during first use?

UK STYLE PLUG WIRING INSTRUCTIONS (IN THE UK ONLY)

This product must only be used from a 13 amp power socket. If a BS1363 approved 13 amp plug is used, it should be fitted with a 13 amp fuse. The wires on the power cord are colour coded:

blue = neutral, brown = live, green or green & yellow = earth.

The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked N or coloured in black.

The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked L or coloured in red.

The green (& yellow) wire must be connected to the terminal marked E or coloured in green (& yellow).

USE

• Protective coating burn off will cause smoking on first use. This is NOT harmful.
- When using for the first time, wipe the surface of the plates with a damp cloth, then dry.
• To remove the baking plates, press the release buttons, and take out the baking plates.
- Place the desired plates in the appliance by inserting the plate locking tabs in the plate locking openings and press on the plates till you hear a click. You may season the plates with butter, margarine or cooking fat. Since the appliance has a non-stick coated surface, the use of butter or oil is optional.
- Close the appliance and let it heat.
- Plug into the electrical outlet. The red pilot light 7 will come to indicate that the appliance is switched on.
- The green ready light will come on when the cooking temperature is reached. During use, this ready light will come on and off regularly. This simply means that the thermostat is regulating the appliance's temperature.
- Attention: during the functioning, the baking plates heat up. Pay attention not to get burned.

!! TO AVOID BURNS, WAIT UNTIL THE APPLIANCE HAS TOTALLY COOLED DOWN BEFORE CHANGING THE PLATES.

Sandwich function

• Prepare your sandwich while the unit is heating.
- Fully open the sandwich maker. Place a slice of bread in the bottom half with the buttered side against the plate.
- Fill the sandwich.
- Add the top slice with the buttered side up and carefully close the appliance. Do not force shut. Steam will be ejected from between the plates; make sure that fingers do not come into contact with it.
- Lock the two halves with the wire clip while toasting.
- Your sandwich will be toasted in 2 to 3 min or longer to suit your taste. Open the appliance and remove sandwich using a plastic or wooden spatula. Never use a metal knife as this may damage the non-stick coating.
- Close the lid to preserve the heat until you are ready to toast the next sandwiches.
• Prepare additional sandwiches if desired while the others are cooking.
• Unplug when finished.

Waffle function

• Lightly brush grids with butter, margarine or cooking oil.
  • Pour batter evenly onto the bottom grid but not all the way to the edges.
• Close the grids. Do not hold the handles during baking. Escaping steam can burn.
• The cover will rise slightly as waffles begin to bake. Do not open the cover for the first minute
• Bake until golden brow, about 3 minutes.
• Remove the waffles with a plastic or wood spatula. Never use scratching objects, as these might damage the non-stick coating. Close grids.
• When you have finished baking, unplug the cord from the outlet and leave the grids open to cool.
• When using for the first time, discard the first two waffles you bake on the new grids.

CLEANING

• Before cleaning, unplug and wait for the appliance and the plates to cool down.

- Wipe the outside with only a slightly moistened cloth ensuring that no moisture, oil or grease enters the cooling slots.

- To clean the plates you can let them in the appliance or remove them from the appliance (therefore press on the button 1 near the handle and remove them (see picture). If you let them in the appliance, wipe the plates with a damp cloth or towel. If you remove them from the appliance, you can wash them under running water. Dry them afterwards. Never place the plates into the dishwasher.

- Do not clean the inside or outside with any abrasive scouring pad or steel wool as this will damage the finish.

- Do not immerse in water or any other liquid.
