Before initial use
- The waffle iron should be preheated for ten minutes with the lids closed. This will remove the smell typically encountered when first switching on the waffle iron.
- For that reason, adequate ventilation should be ensured by opening windows or balcony doors.
- Clean the appliance afterwards as described in General care and cleaning.
- For reasons of hygiene, discard the first two waffles produced when the appliance is used for the first time.
Operation
- Close the lids.
Plug in the appliance. The red indicator light comes on. - Preheat the waffle iron for about eight minutes. It is then ready for use.
Once the optimum temperature has been reached, the green ready-light comes on. - Open the two lids.
Before use, the non-stick plates should be lightly greased with a small amount of oil or fat that is specifically intended for frying and may be safely heated to high temperatures. - Put the required amount of dough on the middle of each of the lower plates.
- Close the upper lid and press down gently to help spread the dough evenly.
Depending on the nature of the dough, the baking time is in general 2 - 3 minutes. - Shortly after the dough is put in, the green ready-light goes out. It will come on again once the baking process is finished, when the waffle can be removed.
- When taking the waffles off the plates, do not use any sharp or pointed objects likely to damage the ceramic coating.
- Check the level of browning. Should the waffle be too light or too dark, adjust the baking time accordingly.
- Place fresh dough into the waffle iron immediately after removing the waffle.
After use, remove the plug from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down with its cooking plates open.
Practical hints
In order to maintain the crispness of the waffles, place them next to each other on a rack to cool. (Placed on top of each
other, the waffle will lose their crispness).
If milk is used instead of water, the waffles will be softer and darker.
In order to achieve even browning, all ingredients should be of the same temperature.
General care and cleaning
- Before cleaning, remove the plug from the wall socket and wait until the appliance has cooled down with the cooking plates open.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
Clean the outside of the appliance with a soft, slightly damp cloth only. - The non-stick plates can be cleaned with a soft damp cloth, a soft brush or a sponge.
