What is the maximum weight the bike carrier can support?

The net weight of the bike carrier is 17 kg. The maximum total load (bikes included) is 60 kg. Each bike must not exceed 30 kg. Check the Brinell hardness of your towbar – the total weight must not exceed it.

How do I install the bike carrier on the towbar?

Ensure the car is straight, engine off and handbrake engaged. Open the lock of the locking mechanism, slide the lock to the right, unlock the lever. Place the bike carrier from above onto the ball, then push the lever down (35-40 kg) until it remains horizontal. Slide the lock to the left until the green marking is visible, then lock it.

How do I adjust the quick coupling if the support moves?

Unlock and remove the bike carrier. Loosen the lock nut, slightly tighten the adjustment bolt, then retighten the lock nut. Refit the support and check the fixation. Repeat until it is securely fixed.

Can I use the bike carrier with an aluminum towball?

No, the bike carrier is not suitable for use on aluminum towbars.

How do I install the bikes on the carrier?

Place the first bike (max 30 kg) in the gutter closest to the car. Secure the frame with the short frame support (clamp) and lock it. Place the second bike in the opposite direction in the other gutter and use the long support. Attach the wheels with the PVC straps, then use the long safety belt around the frames and the clamp.

How do I access the trunk with bikes mounted?

Use the tilting mechanism: push the release on the side, hold the U-tube, then push the lever down to tilt the assembly. To return, push the bike carrier fully upwards until it locks. Never drive without the lever being locked.

What type of lighting is included and how do I connect it?

The bike carrier is equipped with full lighting with 7-pin and 13-pin male plug (Jaegers). Connect the plug corresponding to your vehicle. With the 7-pin plug, reverse lights do not work. Cover the unused plug with the provided cap.

How do I maintain the bike carrier?

After use, clean it with a water jet and dry it. Keep the towball and quick coupling clean and grease-free. Regularly check the condition of parts and replace damaged parts with original parts. Lubricate moving parts and treat paint scratches.

What are the important safety instructions?

Always lock the quick coupling and frame clamps before driving. Remove bike accessories (panniers, pump, etc.). Do not cover the bikes with a cover. Adapt your speed and avoid sudden maneuvers. Deactivate parking assistance and automatic tailgate opening if necessary.

Is the bike carrier compatible with a standard ball towbar?

Yes, it fits all standard (steel) towbars. Ensure that the maximum towbar load (Brinell hardness) is sufficient for the total weight of the carrier and bikes.

The Pro-User JADE bike carrier is part of the family of bike carriers manufactured by Tradekar International BV.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Read these instructions carefully before using the product for the first time.

Do not use this product until the manual and safety regulations are read and are entirely clear.

The assembly and installation of the bikecarrier can only be done according to this instruction manual.

The steps that are mentioned and the safety regulations for assembly, handling and use of the bikecarrier need to be followed! The slightest non conformity can lead to incorrect assembly or wrong use.

The carrier is suitable for the transport of two bikes at most. Please check the maximum permissible ball load. You can find it on the identification plate of the tow bar of your car (for most cars this is 75kg). The total weight of the carrier with the bikes cannot exceed the maximum permissible ball load of the tow bar.

The maximum permissible load for the carrier itself may be 60kg. The net weight of the carrier is 17kg.

MOUNTING THE BIKE CARRIER

The bike carrier is already assembled in part. You only need to assemble the last parts. Remove all parts from packaging and arrange them in a well-organized way. The instructions will clearly describe and show the parts that you need for assembly of the bike carrier

Assembly:

Slide the U-frame on the U-frame holders of the base frame. Secure this U-frame with the carriage bolts (M8x60), washers (M8) and plastic knobs (M8) supplied with the carrier. The plastic knobs must be mounted on the inside.

Please note you have to firmly tighten both rotary knobs so that the U-frame will come on its place well.

THE LICENSEPLATEHOLDER

The fastening clips to secure the number plate are incorporated in the back of the number plate holder and can easily be pressed out. Subsequently, use two clips to secure the number plate (at the bottom).

LIGHTING

This bike carrier is equipped with a lighting system. This system can be connected to the tow bar power socket of your car. Seeing that there are different kinds of sockets that require different

kinds of plugs, this carrier comes with the usual 7-pin plug and the 13-pin plug (Jaegers). As a result, the carrier can be used with any tow bar!

Both plugs are in one housing. Please cover the plug you don't use with the supplied cover.

MOUNTING OF THE BIKE CARRIER ON CAR

The first step is to become familiar with the quick connector.

The quick connector consists of a case mounted to the bike carrier and a lever. Using the lever, you can close and open the quick connector. Using the sliding locking devise to lock the handle of the quick connector and finally lock the complete quick connector with the key (mandatory during use!).

When mounting the bike carrier to the car, it is best that the car is parked straight, the engine is turned off and the parking brake is activated. Make sure that the tow ball is undamaged, clean and not greasy!

Open the lock of the plastic locking device with use of the supplied key. Turn the

key one quarter (key stands now vertical). Slide the plastic locking device to the right (only open red lock is visible on the handle).

Release the quick connector by moving the handle in the vertical position.

Position the bike carrier on the tow-bal from the top. Press the handle of the quick connector downwards (approx. 35-40kg) until it stops (handle will stay stable in the horizontal position).

Slide the plastic locking devise to the left until the green mark on the handle is 100% visible.

Now test if the carrier is attached steady enough on the tow ball (and not easy to

twist). If not, you have to adjust the quick connector. Detach first the carrier by sliding the plastic locking device to the right and pull the handle up. Adjust the adjustment bolt (First release the locking nut, than adjust the bolt and finally lock it again with the locking nut). Test again if the carrier is stable enough on the tow bal (and not easy to twist). Repeat this until the carrier is completely stable. Caution: Always make sure that the locking nut of the adjustment bolt is tightened again!

When the bike carrier is not easy to turn anymore, the quick connector can be locked. Slide the plastic locking devise to the left until the green mark on the handle is 100% visible. Lock the quick connector with the key and take the key out (the red mark is on the position of the lock symbol). Keep it carefully on a safe place. The bike carrier is now also protected against theft.

Always check if the quick connector is well secured! The green mark on the handle must be completely visible and the red dot on the lock must be at the same position as the lock symbol on the locking device.

MOUNTING OF THE BIKES ON THE BIKE CARRIER

Remove all parts from the bikes that could easily be lost (E-bike batteries, bike pumps, speedometers, baskets, panniers, bicycle seats etc.) during transport. These parts may become loose by the increased air resistance and vibration and put other road users at risk.

The first (and heaviest, max 30kg) bike has to be placed in the rear wheel holder (the one which is the nearest to the car) and secured with the short frame holder on the U-tube. The frame holders are flexible to place on the U-tube, and are also flexible to place on your bike. Try the first time which position in your situation works best (and most stable affirmative is). It is important to place the frame holder as high as possible, giving maximum stability.

Clamp the frame of the bike with the frame holder and turn the lockable button tight.

Always lock the frame clamp with the key (the "lock" sign on the button and the red sign on the metal plate indicate if the frame holder is locked or unlocked).

Place the second bike in opposite direction in the second wheel holder and you secure it with the long frame holder.

Secure the wheels using the straps already fixed on the wheel holder.

Now secure the bikes using the long safety belt (included in delivery). Run the safety belt through the bike frame and around the U frame and tighten firmly.

TILTING MECHANISM

For easy access to your boot, even if the bikes are mounted on the carrier, you may use the tilting mechanism.

First you must push aside the safety lock of the tilting mechanism (1).

With one hand, keep a firm grip on the U-frame so that the carrier cannot fall down in an uncontrolled movement. With the other hand, push the handle of the tilting mechanism down to unlock it (2). It is now possible to tilt the carrier.

By pushing the entire carrier up, the tilting mechanism is locked again. Make sure to always secure the handle again with the safety lock!

The bike carrier may never be used if the tilting mechanism is not well secured.

SAFETY REGULATIONS

Keep the tow ball clean and free of grease.

Each time after having mounted the carrier on the tow ball, it will "settle" during the first kilometres that you drive. Therefore, check if the carrier is still firmly secured after the first few kilometres and if necessary, tighten the locking bolt.

Check the bikecarrier before use if there is any damage. Damaged or worn parts need to be replaced immediately. Only use original replacement parts.

Do not make any modifications on the bikecarrier (mechanical or electronic) This can be very dangerous. Warranty claims will not be accepted and we can not guarantee the correct functionality of the bikecarrier, if you done modifications. We are not responsible for damage caused as result of incorrect assembly, installation or modification.

Check the correct operation of the lighting at regularly.

Always make sure that the bikes are firmly fixed by using the frame clamps and wheel safety belts. During transport, the frame clamps need to be locked.

Always use the extra safety belt, for extra protection of your bikes. Run the safety belt trough the U-frame and the frames of the bikes, and pull this firmly.

Make sure that no parts of the bike can get lost during driving (pump, basket, saddlebags, etc.). Always remove these before driving!

Check regularly if all the belts, knobs and fixations are firmly secured and if necessary secure them again.

Always make sure that the tilting mechanism is locked.

Always make sure that the quick connector is closed and locked.

Do not cover the bikes with a cover while driving.

Driving with a bike carrier affects the performance of your car. Adjust your speed accordingly (max 120km/h). Try to avoid sudden braking and steering movements.

Please remember when driving in reverse that the car is longer than usual!

In addition, pay attention to the regulatory requirements applicable to the transport of goods at the back of your vehicle.

When you have a vehicle with electronic parking sensors, an error message can come when the bikecarrier is mounted. Switch off the parking system during the use of the bikecarrier.

If the car is equipped with an automatic opening of the trunk, this must be switched off or only opened manually, if the bikecarrier is mounted.

Take the bikecarrier of the tow ball before using the carwash.

The bikecarrier is not suitable for "off road" use.

Take the bikecarrier of the tow ball if not used.

In case of defects or problems please contact your Pro-User supplier.

MAINTENANCE

Always store the bikecarrier clean and dry after use. If necessary spray with the water hose to remove mud and other filthy stuff.

Keep the tow ball of the car clean and free of grease.

Keep the quick connector of the bikecarrier clean and free of grease.

Check the bikecarrier regular if there is any damage. Damaged or worn parts need to be replaced immediately. Use only original replacement parts.

The nuts and bolts of the bikecarrier need to be checked regular, if necessary tighten them again.

If there is a damage on the powder coating of the bikecarrier this need to be treat with paint immediately.

Rotating and moving parts need to be oiled regularly.

This product is covered by a 2 year guarantee. Please note that our guarantee covers reasonable use of the bike carrier, it does NOT cover any damage caused by misuse. This also applies to a malfunction or failure of the bike carrier that has been caused by poor or incorrect installation. To ensure the validity of the guarantee please carry out maintenance in accordance with the maintenance section. We reserve the right to make a call out and/or repair charge for any work required to be undertaken to rectify faults that are outside of the company's control i.e. incorrect or poor fitting, misuse, accidental damage, etc.

ACCESSORIES (not included)

ride-on ramp

With the optional ride-on ramp (Article 91548), you can really simply drive your bicycle on the bike carrier without lifting. To do this install the ride-on ramp onto the wheelholder using the pin and the special hole. As shown in the picture.

Extension to three bikes

With the add-on accessory (article 91534), the Jade bike carrier can be extended for the transport of three bikes. Ask your Pro-User dealer for more information about the possibilities.

Attention: With the add-on accessory, the weight of the bike carrier (excluding bikes) will increase to 19kg!
