USER MANUAL SM 3594 SEVERIN

1. Battery compartment

Important safety instructions ∙ In order to avoid hazards, and to comply with safety requirements, repairs to this electrical appliance must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix). ∙ Do not clean the housing with liquids or immerse it. ∙ To clean, immerse the whisk head in warm, soapy water and switch the appliance on briefl y. ∙ To prevent injuries, use caution when cleaning the whisk head. ∙ To replace the batteries, unlock the battery compartment cover by turning it, and then remove it. Insert new batteries, ensuring correct polarity. ∙ Use 1.5 V Type R6/AA batteries. ∙ Do not attempt to recharge batteries of the ordinary, non-rechargeable type. ∙ Rechargeable batteries must be removed from the appliance before they are recharged. ∙ All batteries must be replaced at the same time. Do not use different types, brands or capacities together. ∙ Always ensure correct polarity when inserting new batteries. ∙ Do not short-circuit the battery terminals. ∙ Always remove the batteries from the appliance if it is not to be used for an extended period, or if the batteries are exhausted. ∙ Used batteries must not be disposed of with normal household waste; this must be done through the proper public collection points. ∙ Caution: Any misuse can cause severe personal injury. ∙ This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as in GB9 - staff kitchens in shops, offi ces and other similar working environments, - agricultural working environments, - by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation, - in bed-and breakfast type environments. ∙ This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved. ∙ Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age. ∙ The appliance must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times. ∙ Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. ∙ Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation. ∙ No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with. ∙ Do not use the appliance unless the whisk head is fully submerged in the liquid. ∙ Before the appliance is used, the entire unit should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if the shaft is bent, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on its operational safety. Batteries Should the frothing process not lead to the desired results, or if you experience a decrease in the operating speed, this indicates that the batteries need to be replaced. To access the battery compartment, unlock the cover and remove it. Always ensure correct polarity alignment when inserting new batteries. The unit is designed for use with standard ‘R6/AA’- type 1.5V batteries. For best results, we recommend using standard batteries. The use of rechargeable batteries may result in a reduced amount of milk froth. Remember to protect our environment. Never dispose of old batteries in your domestic garbage. Old batteries must be disposed of through the local ‘special garbage collection points’. Before using for the fi rst time Before the appliance is used for the fi rst time, or after extended periods of non-use, it should be thoroughly cleaned as described10 in the section Cleaning and care. Operation We recommend the use of milk with a high protein content. Half-fi ll a suitable, long container (eg glass or cup) with milk. ∙ Insert the whisk head, ensuring that it is fully immersed, and press the operating button. Keep it pressed until the milk is thoroughly frothed. During frothing, the whisk head should be moved in a circular motion. ∙ Use a spoon to spread the milk froth over the coffee. Cleaning and care The whisk head is permanently attached and cannot be removed. After use, the head can be easily cleaned by dipping it into warm soapy water and briefl y pressing the operating button. Dry the head thoroughly afterwards. The housing of the appliance may not be treated with water or any other liquids; it may be wiped with a slightly damp cloth. Disposal Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter. Guarantee This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modifi ed, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse. This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods. If the product fails to operate and needs to be returned, pack it carefully, enclosing your name and address and the reason for return.
