Frequently Asked Questions - SJ300VSL SHARP

How to adjust the temperature of the refrigerator and freezer?
Use the two controllers: FREEZER TEMP. CONTROL for the freezer and REFRIGERATOR TEMP. CONTROL for the refrigerator. Set them from MIN to MAX according to your needs. For intense cold, set both to MAX. In summer (temperature >35°C), do not use MAX on the freezer to avoid the refrigerator being too warm.
Why is my refrigerator making noise?
Some noises are normal: compressor start-up noise, refrigerant gurgling, cracking due to wall expansion. The loud noise once a day comes from automatic defrost. If the noise is unusual, check the appliance's stability.
What to do in case of frost or condensation inside?
Wipe frost with a damp cloth and condensation with a dry cloth. This can happen if the door is opened frequently, humidity is high, or moist food is stored without packaging. Check that the door closes properly.
How to clean the refrigerator?
Remove the shelves and door balconies, wash them with warm soapy water, rinse and dry. Clean the interior with a cloth soaked in warm water and dish soap, then rinse with cold water. Do not use solvents, abrasive powders or boiling water. Clean the door gasket with a damp toothbrush.
What to do if the LED lighting stops working?
The LED bulb must be replaced only by a SHARP authorized service technician. Do not attempt to change it yourself. Contact after-sales service.
How to use the temperature indicator?
The indicator is located in the coldest zone of the refrigerator. It must remain BLUE. If it turns WHITE, the temperature is too high: increase the refrigerator setting and wait 6 hours before checking again.
What foods not to put in the freezer?
Do not freeze drinks in cans or bottles: they could burst. Avoid flammable materials such as ether, gasoline, aerosol cans. Hot foods must be cooled before freezing.
How to save energy with this refrigerator?
Leave sufficient ventilation space around the appliance. Avoid exposure to sunlight and heat sources. Open the door briefly. Cool hot foods before storing. Place foods evenly. Remove accessories like the ice cube tray for more efficient operation.
What to do if the refrigerator is not cooling?
Check that the settings are not on MIN. If the freezer does not cool even with FREEZER on MAX, also set REFRIGERATOR to MAX. Ensure the door closes properly and ventilation openings are not blocked.
How to correctly install the refrigerator?
Place it away from sunlight and heat sources. Leave a minimum ventilation space (see manual). Use the front adjustable feet to make it stable and level. Plug into an accessible outlet. Wait 5 minutes after a power outage before reconnecting.

Where is the water drainage hole located in the Sharp SJ300VSL refrigerator?
Frequently Asked Questions - 24/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

In the Sharp SJ300VSL refrigerator, the water drainage hole, also known as the drainage hole, is located inside the main compartment, usually at the back and near the bottom. This hole allows condensation water to drain out to prevent moisture buildup inside the refrigerator.

To locate it precisely:

  • Open the refrigerator door and remove the lower shelves if necessary.
  • Look towards the back wall, near the bottom of the compartment.
  • You should see a small hole or notch that serves as a conduit for the condensation water.

It is important to regularly check that this hole is not blocked to ensure proper drainage and avoid moisture problems or bad odors.

Clean the inside parts with a cloth soaked in warm water. If soapy water is used, wipe it off thoroughly with water.

OPERATION

Controlling temperatures

  • FREEZER TEMP. CONTROL regulates the quantity of cold air to the freezer.
  • If the freezer does not cool even when setting FREEZER TEMP. CONTROL to MAX, set REFRIGERATOR TEMP. CONTROL to MAX as well.
  • With FREEZER TEMP. CONTROL set to MAX, there will be less cold air directed to the refrigerator compartment, and the refrigerator compartment may not become cold enough.

REFRIGERATOR TEMP.CONTROL

SHARP SJ300VSL - REFRIGERATOR TEMP.CONTROL - 1

  • REFRIGERATOR TEMP. CONTROL controls the compressor running time of the refrigeration system.
  • MAX setting will result in colder temperature in the both (refrigerator and freezer) compartments.
  • The freezer compartment may not cool sufficiently when leaving REFRIGERATOR TEMP. CONTROL as MIN for an extensive period. To cool the freezer compartment properly, set REFRIGERATOR TEMP. CONTROL closer to MAX.

Over 35^ ambient temperature

SHARP SJ300VSL - Over 35^ ambient temperature - 1

SHARP SJ300VSL - Over 35^ ambient temperature - 2

This is because MAX setting (FREEZER TEMP. CONTROL) may result in too little air flow to the refrigerator compartment, causing too warm temperature in the refrigerator compartment.

Under 10^ ambient temperature

SHARP SJ300VSL - Under 10^ ambient temperature - 1

If the foods in the refrigerator compartment freeze.

SHARP SJ300VSL - Under 10^ ambient temperature - 2

This is because the compressor operation is too short in winter, and not enough cold air is provided to the freezer compartment.

Hints when making ice

When the ice cubes are made, hold the ice cube tray upside down whilst twisting either end in opposite directions, allowing the ice cubes to drop out.

CHECKING THE TEMPERATURE IN THE COLDEST ZONE

You can carry out regular checks to ensure the temperature in the coldest zone is correct and, if necessary, adjust the refrigerator temp. control as indicated in the chapter "Controlling Temperature". To maintain a correct temperature inside the appliance, check that the indicator of temperature is always BLUE. If the indicator of temperature turns WHITE, the temperature is too high; in this case, increase the refrigerator temp. control setting and wait for 6 hours before checking the indicator of temperature again.

SHARP SJ300VSL - CHECKING THE TEMPERATURE IN THE COLDEST ZONE - 1
Correct setting

SHARP SJ300VSL - CHECKING THE TEMPERATURE IN THE COLDEST ZONE - 2

Temperature too high, adjust the refrigerator temp. control.

NOTE:

  • The internal temperature of the refrigerator depends on various factors such as the ambient temperature of the room, the amount of food stored and the frequency of door opening.
  • When fresh food has been introduced or the door has been left open for some time, it is normal for the indicator of temperature to turn WHITE.

CARE AND CLEANING

WARNING

Unplug the refrigerator first to prevent electric shock.
- Do not splash water directly on the outer cabinet or the interior. This may lead to rusting and deterioration of the electrical insulation.

IMPORTANT

To prevent cracking on inside surfaces and plastic components, follow these tips.

  • Wipe any food oils adhered to plastic components.
  • Some household chemicals may cause damage, so use only diluted washing-up liquid (soapy water).
  • If undiluted detergent is used or soapy water is not wiped off thoroughly, cracking of plastic parts can result.

  • Remove the shelves and pockets from the cabinet and door. Wash them in warm soapy dishwashing water; rinse in clean water and dry.

  • Clean the inside with a cloth soaked in warm soapy dishwashing water. Then, use cold water to wipe off soapy water.
  • Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth each time it is soiled.
  • Clean the Magnetic door seal with a toothbrush and warm soapy dishwashing water.

NOTE:

  • To prevent damage to your refrigerator, do not use heavy duty cleansers or solvents (lacquer, paint, polishing powder, benzine, boiled water, etc.).
  • If the power supply is disconnected, please wait for at least 5 minutes before re-connecting power.
  • Do not drop objects inside the refrigerator or strike the inner wall. This may cause the inner surface to crack.

When the compartment light is blown

Contact the service agent approved by SHARP to request a replacement compartment light. The compartment light is not to be removed other than by qualified service personnel.

Switching off your refrigerator

If you switch your refrigerator off when you are going away for an extended period, remove all food, clean the interior thoroughly. Remove the power cord plug from the power socket and leave all doors open.

STORING FOOD

Refrigeration reduces the rate of food spoilage.

To maximize the shelf life of perishable food products, ensure that the food is of the freshest possible quality. The following is a general guide to help promote longer food storage.

Fruit / Vegetables

To minimize moisture loss, fruit and vegetables should be loosely enclosed in a plastic material e.g. wrap, bags (do not seal) and place in the vegetable crisper.

Dairy Products & Eggs

  • Most dairy products have a use by date on the outer packaging which informs the recommended temperature and shelf life of the product.
  • Eggs should be stored in the Egg pocket.

Meats / Fish / Poultry

  • Place on a plate or dish and cover with paper or plastic wrap.
  • For larger cuts of meat, fish, or poultry, place to the rear of the shelves.
  • Ensure all cooked food is wrapped securely or placed in an airtight container.

NOTE:

  • Evenly place the food on the shelves to allow the cooling air to circulate efficiently.
  • Hot foods should be cooled before storing. Storing hot foods increases the temperature the unit and increases the risk of food spoilage.
  • Do not block the outlet and inlet of the cool air circulating circuit with foods or containers; otherwise the foods will not be evenly cooled throughout the refrigerator.
  • Do not place food directly in front of cold air outlet. This may lead to the food freezing.
  • Keep the door securely closed.

SHARP SJ300VSL - NOTE: - 1

FOR BEST FREEZING

  • Quality of foods should be fresh.
  • Freeze small quantities of food at a time to freeze them quickly.
  • Food should be properly stored or covered and the air should be removed to seal tightly.
  • Evenly place the food in the freezer.
  • Label bags or containers to keep an inventory of freezing food.

BEFORE YOU CALL FOR SERVICE

Before you call for service, check the following points.

SolutionProblem
The outside of a cabinet is hot when touched. It is normal. The hot pipe is in the cabinet in order to prevent dew generation.
When there is refrigerator noise. It is normal for the refrigerator to produce the following sounds. • Loud noise produced by the compressor when operation starts ---Sound becomes quieter after a while. • Loud noise produced once a day by the compressor ---Operating sound produced immediately after automatic defrost operation. •Sound of flowing fluid (gurgling sound, fizzing sound) ---Sound of refrigerant flowing in pipes (sound may become louder from time to time). •Cracking or crunching sound, Squeaking sound ---Sound produced by expansion and contraction of inner walls and internal parts during cooling.
Frosting or dew generation occurs inside or outside the refrigerator. This may occur in one of the following cases. Use a wet cloth for wiping frost and a dry cloth for wiping dew. •When the ambient humidity is high. •When the door is frequently opened and closed. •When foods containing plenty of moisture are stored. (Wrapping is required.)
The foods in the refrigerator compartment freeze.•Is the refrigerator operated for a long time with REFRIGERATOR TEMP. CONTROL set at MAX? •Low ambient temperature may cause placed foods to freeze even if REFRIGERATOR TEMP. CONTROL is set to MIN.
It smells in the compartment. • Wrappingis required for the foods with strong smell. •Deodorizing unit cannot remove all of smell.

IF YOU STILL REQUIRE SERVICE

Refer to your nearest service agent approved by SHARP.
