LOCATION OF CONTROLS

CLASS 1 230v~ The exclamation point within the triangle is a warning sign alert- ing the user of important instructions accompanying the product. The lightening flash with arrowhead symbol within the triangle is a warning sign alerting the user of “dangerous voltage” inside the unit. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover. No user serviceable parts inside the unit. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. This unit employs a laser. Only a qualified service person should remove the cover or attempt to service this device, due to possible eye injury. Invisible laser radiation when the unit is opened or interlocks defeated. Avoid exposure to laser beam. Use of controls, adjustments or procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure. This unit operates on 230V ~ 50Hz. If the unit is not used for a long period of time, remove the plug from the AC mains. This unit must not be exposed to moisture or rain. The power switch in this unit is mounted on the secondary circuit and does not disconnect the whole unit from the mains in OFF position. Ensure all connections are properly made before operating the unit. This unit should be positioned so that it is properly ventilated. Avoid placing it, for example, close to curtains, on the carpet or in a built-in installation such as a bookcase. Do not expose this unit to direct sunlight or heat radiating sources. Make sure all batteries are inserted according to the proper polarity. Do not mix old batteries with new ones. If the unit is not used for a long period of time (more than 1 month), remove all batteries from their compartment to avoid possible leaking. WARNINGS

1. Set the Function Selector (5) to the Radio position.

2. Select the desired frequency band with the Band Selector (16).

3. Tune to the desired radio station by turning the Tuning control (18).

4. Adjust the Volume (2) control to the desired level.

5. To turn off the radio, set the Function Selector (5 ) to the Tape position.

Antenna For FM reception there is a built-in telescopic FM antenna (31) at the rear of the unit. Extend the antenna and move it around to obtain the best reception. For MW reception the signals are picked up through a built-in ferrite antenna. Your may have to orient the unit to obtain the best reception. FM Stereo and Mono Reception When an FM signal is tuned in, setting the BAND selector (16) to the FM ST position will enable the broadcarting to be received in stereo sound. The FM Stereo indicator (15) will light up. When stereo signals are weak and the reception is noisy, it is often preferable to receive the broadcarting in mono. Switch the Band Selector (16) to FM (Mono). Reception will then be less noisy.

COMPACT DISC OPERATION

  • To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the centre of the case and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges.
  • Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off the disc's recorded surface with a soft cloth. Unlike conventional records, compact discs have no grooves to collect dust and microscopic debris so gently wiping with a soft cloth should remove most particles. Wipe in a straight line from the inside to the outside of the disc. Small dust particles and light stains will have absolutely no ef fect on reproduction quality.

Before switching on make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the same as that indicated on the rating plate. For your own safety read the following instructions carefully before attempting to connect this unit to the mains.

MAINS (AC) OPERATION

This unit is designed to operate on AC 230V 50Hz current only . Connecting it to other power sources may damage the unit. Caution To prevent electric shock disconnect from the mains before removing cover . No user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel. Safety Precaution Do not allow this unit to be exposed to rain or moisture. Mains Supply: AC230Volts / 50Hz - AC only This symbol means that this unit is double insulated. An earth connection is not required. POWER SUPPLY

  • Remove the stereo carefully from the box, retaining the packaging for future use.
  • Please read this instruction book carefully before operating this unit. AC Power Operation
  • Plug the supplied AC power cord into the AC power socket on the back of this portable stereo. Connect the AC Power Cord to your AC household mains outlet and switch on the mains supply. Make sure the volt age is compatible. Battery Operation
  • Remove mains lead from the unit for battery operation.
  • Open the Battery Compartment (30) at the back of the stereo and insert six UM-2 batteries following the polarity diagram shown inside the battery compartment.
  • Batteries should be removed form the compartment if the unit is not to be used for some time.
  • Flat batteries should be removed from the unit to avoid leakage.56 stop at the current play position. The Play/Pause indicator will begin to flash.

6. To resume disc play, press the Play Button again. The Play indicator will light up.

Starting disc play from the beginning of a particular track

  • Press the forward or Reverse Skip Track Buttons (20/21) to select the desired track. The number of the selected track will be shown on the CD display . Press the Play/Pause Button (29) to start play. To skip to the next track

1. To skip to the beginning of next track 5 while track 4 is playing.

2. Press the Skip Forward () Button once to skip to the beginning of next track.

Continuously pressing the Forward Skip Track Button until the desired trade is reached. Once the beginning of the last track is reached the CD player will not advance any further. To skip back to the previous track on a disc

1. To skip back to the beginning of current track. Press the skip Backward (18) once.

2 Toskip back to the beginning of previous track. Press the skip Backward () Skip Track Button twice. Continuously pressing the Reverse Skip Track Button ( ) makes the CD player skip back through the disc track by track. Once the beginning of the first track is reached, the CD player will not go back any further.

PROGRAMMED DISC PLAY

It is not possible to enter programs during disc play. Press the Stop button (28) first, then follow the instructions below. Press the Program button (22). The following information will be displayed on the CD Display:

Press the Forward and Reverse Skip Track buttons (21) to select the track to be stored in location “01”.

Press the Program Button (16). The first program selection is now stored in the program memory. The Program indicator (27) will flash and will appear

  • Never use chemicals such as record sprays, antistatic sprays, benzine, or thinners to clean compact discs. These chemicals can irreparably damage the disc’s surface.
  • Discs should be returned to their cases after use. This avoids serious scratches that could cause the Laser pickup to skip.
  • Do not expose discs to direct sunlight, high humidity, or high temperatures for extended periods. Long exposure to high temperatures can warp the disc.
  • Do not stick paper or write anything with a ballpoint pen on the label side of the disc. CD OPERATION Loading and Unloading Compact Discs

1. Set the Function Selector (5) to the CD Position.

2. Lift the CD Door (14) to open the disc compartment.

3. When the door has opened, remove a disc from its case and place it carefully in the

compartment with the label side facing up. Locate 3” discs, on the central spindle in the compartment.

4. Close the door by pressing on the corner of the disc comp artment door.

1. Load a CD into the disc compartment, and close the compartment.

2. Press the Play/Pause (29) button. The Play/Pause indicator will light up and disc play

will begin from the start of the first track of the disc.

3. At the end of the disc, the unit will switch to stop mode and the play indicator will go out.

Notes: If the disc is deeply scratched, or too dirty, disc play may not start. If an improperly centred disc is played, noise can be heard in the mechanism. The use of such discs should be avoided. IMPORTANT INFORMATION This compact disc player has built-in error compensation circuits to correct for minor defects in a disc. There are limit s, however, to the amount of correction available. In some cases the CD player may skip some tracks on a disc during disc play. This problem may be caused by defects (such as scratches) on the disc being played, which are too large for the error compensation circuits to handle.

4. Press the Stop Button (28). Disc play will stop, the Play indicator will go off, and the

display will show the total number of tracks on the CD.

5. To temporarily stop disc play (pause mode), press the Pause Button (29). Disc play will78

play will end, and normal disc play will resume from that point. When the selected track has finished playing, the CD play will Stop. For repeat disc play of all the tracks on the CD Press the Repeat button (4) twice. The REPEAT indicator will flash continuously. Press the Play/Pause button (29). The disc will then begin playing through to the end of the last track. At which point it will automatically return to the beginning of the first track. This will continue until the Stop button (28) is pressed. If the Repeat button (4) is pressed once more, the repeat indicator will be cancelled, repeat play will end, and normal disc play will resume from that point. When the last track has finished playing, the CD player will then Stop. CASSETTE OPERATION

INSERTION AND REMOVAL OF CASSETTES

1. Press the Stop/Eject Button (9) to open the Cassette Door .

2. Slip your cassette tape into the holder with the exposed side facing up (the side for

playing faces you). 3 Close the Cassette Doors securely before starting. 4 When finished playback, press the S top / Eject Keys to open the Cassette Door , and retrieve your cassette tape. PLAYBACK

1. Set the Function Selector (5) to the TAPE position.

2. Insert your cassette tape with the exposed side facing up.

3. Press the Play Key (12) to activate playback.

4. Set the Volume to the desired level.

5 Press the Pause Key (8) wherever you want to suspend playback. Press Pause key again to continue play back. 6 Press the Stop / Eject Key (9) when finished.

Select the next track to be programmed using the Forward and Reverse Skip Track buttons (21). Press the Program button (22) to store this track. Continue entering tracks in this way until all the desired tracks are stored (up to a limit of 16). When the Program button is pressed to store the 20th track, the display will return to the 1st program location. Press the Program button to step through the program locations. If you wish to add a track to the program, press the Program button (22) until the last programmed track is displayed. Press the Program button again. Press the Forward or Reverse Skip Track buttons (21) until the desired track is displayed, then press the Program button. The added track will be entered as the last track in the program memory. Notes: If the Play/Pause button (29) is pressed before the Program button is pressed to store a track, that track will not be programmed, and the disc will start playing from the first selected track. Any track can be programmed to play more than once. Listening to Programmed Tracks Press the Play Pause button (29). Disc play will start at the beginning of the first programmed track . To Clear The Program Memory If the disc is playing, press the Stop button (28) to stop the disc. Switch the Function selector (5) to a different position to clear the Program.

Use the Repeat button (4) to listen to one track, an entire disc or a programmed sequence repetitively. For repeat play of one track Press the Repeat button (4) once. The REPEAT indicator (24) will light up. Select the desired track by pressing the Forward or Reverse Skip Track buttons (21). The selected track will be shown on the CD display. Press the Play/Pause button (29). The selected track will then begin playing through to its end. At which point it will automatically return to the beginning of that track. This will continue until the Stop button (28) is pressed. If the Repeat button (4) is pressed twice more, the Repeat indicator is cancelled, Repeat910 IMPORTANT Since movement of the CD mechanism and the sensitive circuitry may cause interference to a radio tuner nearby switch this unit off while operating other radio devices. This product utilizes a laser Danger - Invisible laser radiation when opened and interlock failed or defeated. Avoid direct exposure to the beam. Caution - Use of controls, adjustments, or procedures not listed in this manual may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
