- Electrical extension leads that are unsuitable for the power rating or which are not compliant with law may overheat and possibly lead to short circuiting, fire, power outage or damage to the equipment. Only use extension leads which are certified, suitable for the power rating, supporting 16A and earthed.
- Always turn the appliance off at the ON/OFF switch before unplugging it.
- To remove the plug from the socket, do not pull the power cable, but hold the plug itself to avoid damage to the plug and the cable.
- Always unplug the appliance if it is not in use and before any preparation, maintenance or cleaning operation.
- Fully unwind the cable from the cable winder before connecting the appliance to the mains and before use. Always use the product with the cable completely unwound.
- Do not pull or jerk the cable or expose it to stress (twisting, crushing or stretching). Keep the cable away from hot and/or sharp surfaces and elements. Avoid crushing the cables in doors and windows. Do not pull the cable tight around corners. Avoid treading on the cable. Do not wind the power cable around the appliance, especially if the appliance is hot. Do not place the appliance on top of the power cable, this can be dangerous.
- Do not substitute the plug on the power cable.
- If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid all possible hazards. Do not use the product if the power cable is damaged.
- Do not touch or use the appliance barefoot and/or with wet body or feet.
- Do not use the appliance near containers full of water, e.g. sinks, baths and swimming pools.

- Do not vacuum or direct the steam jet onto toxic substances, acids, solvents, detergents or corrosive substances. The handling and removal of dangerous substances must be carried out according to the indications of the manufacturers of these substances.
- Do not vacuum or direct the steam jet onto explosive powders or liquids, hydrocarbons, open flames and or extremely hot objects.
- Keep all parts of your body away from the suction nozzle and from any moving or rotating parts.
- Do not use the vacuum function on people and/or animals.
- Use the specific handle for transport. Do not pull the power cable. Do not use the power cable as a handle. Do not lift the appliance using the power cable or the steam hoses/vacuum tubes. Do not lift the product by the dirt collector handle.
- Do not position the product near sources of heat such as fireplaces, stoves and ovens.
- Do not position the product near electromagnetic fields such as induction plates.
- Re-wind the cable when the appliance is not in use.
- Do not obstruct the openings and grills on the product.
- When cleaning stairs, the appliance should be positioned on steps below the level of the user.
- Do not direct the steam jet on any part of the body of people or animals.
- Do not direct the steam jet on clothes while they are being worn.
- Cloths and rags and fabrics which have been subjected to a deep steam reach very high temperatures, above 100°C. Wait a few minutes and check that they have cooled before handling them. Therefore, avoid contact with the skin if they have just been steamed. ENGLISH
CORRECT USE OF THE PRODUCT
Polti Vaporetto 3 Clean / 3 Clean_Blue is an appliance designed for indoor domestic use for vacuuming up liquids and dust, removing both dry and/or wet materials (dirt) from surfaces with the use of steam as per the descriptions and instructions given in this manual. Please read these instructions carefully and keep them. This manual can also be consulted and/or downloaded from the website www.polti.co.uk. Only vacuum domestic dirt. Do not vacuum directly from containers full of water or other liquids. Only vacuum small quantities of water spread over surfaces, respecting the maximum quantity specified in these instructions for use. Regularly check the fill level of the dry and damp dirt collector, ensuring that the maximum levels are not exceeded. Do not use on debris or chalk, cement or residues from building sites or brick laying. Do not use on earth and sand/soil, etc. Do not use on ash, soot and combustion residues (fireplaces, barbecues, etc.). Do not use on printer, photocopier or fax toner and ink powder. Do not vacuum pointed, sharp or stiff objects. POLTI S.p.A. reserves the right to make the aesthetic, technical and construction changes it deems necessary, without prior notice. Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your Polti Vaporetto 3 Clean / 3 Clean_Blue may contain some residual water in the tank. Correct use of the product is only as detailed in this instruction manual. Any other use may damage the appliance and invalidate the warranty.
INFORMATION FOR USERS
Pursuant to European Directive 2012/19/EU, regarding electric and electronic appliances, this appliance must not be disposed of with domestic waste, but sent to an official collection facility. This appliance complies with EU Directive 2011/65/EU. The crossed-out bin symbol on the appliance indicates that, at the end of its useful lifespan, the product must be disposed of separately from other waste. Therefore, at the end of its life, the user must hand over the appliance to an appropriate collection centre for electric and electronic waste or, according to the legislation in force in the country, leave the used appliance with the distributor when buying a new product to replace it. Proper separate waste collection to facilitate the subsequent recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible disposal of the appliance helps to prevent negative effects on the environment and human health, and promotes recycling of the materials the product is made of. Unlawful disposal by the owner may result in the sanctions envisaged by current legislation.
WHICH WATER TO USE
Polti Vaporetto 3 Clean has been designed to function with normal medium tap water between 8°f and 20°f. If the tap water contains a lot of limescale use a mix composed of 50% tap water and 50% demineralised water which is widely available to purchase.
Warning: check the hardness of the water at
the technical office at your local council or the local water supplier. Periodically replace the limescale filter as shown in Section 13. Never use distilled water, rain water or water containing additives (e.g. starch, perfumes), or water produced by other domestic appliances, by water softeners or filter jugs. Do not add chemical, natural, detergent, or limescale removing substances, etc.

Polti Vaporetto 3 Clean / 3 Clean_Blue is a convenient steam upright appliance which includes three products in one, because it can be used as a vacuum cleaner, a steam broom/floor cleaner and a portable steam cleaner. It can perform multiple cleaning functions and treat various surfaces: floors with different finishes (tiles, stoneware, marble, parquet), kitchen work surfaces, filter hood, bathrooms, taps, grouting, windows and mirrors, upholstery (sofas, armchairs, mattresses, cushions, car interiors), interior doors and cabinet doors, radiators and rolling shutters, curtains and clothes, green plants. *Tests carried out by third party and independent laboratories attest that the Polti steam mop kills and removes 99.9% of virus, germs and bacteria if used based on the instructions included in this manual with the microfiber cloth mounted and for a continuous operating time of 30 seconds on the potentially contaminated area. | 24 |
1.1 Remove the appliance from the packaging,
checking that the product is intact and that all the parts are included.
1.2 Connect the main part of the appliance to

2. USE AS A VACUUM
CLEANER Ensure that Section 1 has been followed.
2.1 Unwind the power cable completely and
connect it to an appropriate socket (4) that is earthed. Always use the product with the cord completely unwound.
2.2 Slide the switch on the handle to the ON
position (5). Release the brush from its position, place a foot on the brush and tilt the handle (6). Vacuum surfaces. During cleaning, it is possible to insert the power cable into the upper hook to avoid it getting in the way (7).
3. PREPARATION FOR USE AS MOP
AND PORTABLE STEAM CLEANER
3.1 Remove the water tank from the appliance, pressing the side buttons and pulling
outwards (8). Open the cap of the tank by pulling it outwards (9), then fill the tank with water. Do not add other substances or additives to the tank.
3.2 Close the cap of the tank and reattach it
WARNING: Check that the tank cap is inserted correctly to avoid water leaks.
This operation must always be carried out with the power cable disconnected from the mains.
3.3 Connect the nozzle, with the the cloth attached to the brush (3).
3.4 Unwind the power cable completely and
connect it to an appropriate socket (4) that is earthed. Always use the product with the cord completely unwound.
3.5 Press the ON/OFF side switch (10). The
power indicator light will flash on( ) (green). Wait until the light remains on (about 30 sec, green) (11). At this point, the appliance is ready.
PORTABLE STEAM CLEANER
3.6 In order to use the appliance as a Portable
Steam Cleaner, unhook it from the central body by pressing the upper button and pulling outwards (12).
4. STEAM ADJUSTMENT
There are 3 set levels of steam flow available. Press the steam adjustment button (13) and set the steam level based on intended use. Here are some suggestions for the choice of steam flow level:
- Maximum level ( stains, grease;
- Medium level ( floors. ): to remove scaling, ): to clean windows and
- Minimum level ( ): to clean parquet and laminate, delicate fabrics, upholstery, sofas and mattresses, etc. and to steam plants.
5. CONNECTION OF ACCESSORIES
The accessories can be connected directly to the Portable Steam Cleaner or to the flexible hose for greater freedom of movement.
5.1 FLEXIBLE HOSE
Connect the flexible hose to the portable cleaner, until you hear the locking button click (14). To remove the flexible hose, press the locking button and pull outwards (14).
5.2 LANCE
The lance can be connected to the portable cleaner or to the flexible hose. Connect the flexible hose to the portable cleaner, until you hear the locking button (15) click. Brushes and grout accessories can be attached to the lance. Insert them on the end of the lance until the fixing "click" can be heard (16). To remove, pull out.
5.3 UPHOLSTERY ACCESSORY
Attach to the portable cleaner via the flexible hose. Attach until the locking button clicks (15) (to remove, pull the adapter outwards). In order to clean sofas, cushions, armchairs and mattresses, connect the sockete to the upholstery accessory (19). | 25 | ENGLISH
5.4 CLEANING NOZZLE
Attach to the upholstery accessory by inserting the hook A (17) under slot B (18) (20), then turn the nozzle (21) so that hook C (17) fits into slot D (18)(22). To attach cleaning nozzle to the upholstery accessory, first attach the sockette to the accessory itself. Do not mount the nozzle without having first attached the cap. ENGLISH
6. CLEANING FLOORS
cloth allows the floors to be washed and sanitised so that the dirt loosened by the steam is collected by the cloth. Before removing the cleaning nozzle with the cloth from the brush, wait a few minutes to allow the cloth to cool. Then place a foot on one of the two lateral pins of the nozzle and pull the steam upright upwards.
WARNING: For steam cleaning, do not use
the brush without the nozzle with the cloth.
WARNING: For additional safety, test steam
delivery prior to use on a hidden part, leave the steamed part to dry to ensure that no changes in colour or deformation have occurred. Before using the appliance on delicate surfaces, ensure that the area in contact with the surface is free from foreign bodies that could cause scratches. Polti Vaporetto 3 Clean / 3 Clean_Blue is a combined product that can be used as a vacuum cleaner, a steam upright, to wash and sanitise floors or in combined steam upright mode with a suction action to save on cleaning time. SUCTION ONLY Ensure that Section 1 has been followed and proceed as described in Section 2. STEAM ONLY Ensure that Sections 1-3 have been followed.
6.1 Adjust the steam intensity based on the
type of floor (13); for hard floors (tiles, ceramic surfaces, etc.) we recommend the medium level. for delicate floors (parquet, laminated floors, ceramic floors, etc.) we recommend the low level.
6.2 Release the appliance from its position,
place a foot on the brush and tilt the handle (6), then press the steam button (23) on the handle, and begin cleaning moving the brush back and forth. To stop the steam flow, release the steam button.
6.3 The brush has a flexible joint that makes it
easy to clean corners and edges of furniture and walls. COMBINED MODE: STEAM / SUCTION The combined use of steam and suction allows the dust to be removed and the floor to be sanitised in a single stroke. Proceed as described in Sections 1-2-3. During cleaning, it is possible to insert the power cable into the upper hook, to avoid it getting in the way (7). During cleaning operations, the use of the
7. CLEANING WINDOWS, MIRRORS
AND TILED WALLS
WARNING: To clean glass surfaces during
cold weather, preheat the windows starting to steam from a distance of about 50 cm from the surface. Use only the Portable Steam Cleaner. Ensure that Section 3 has been followed.
7.1 Connect the flexible hose to the Portable
Steam Cleaner, then attach the upholstery accessory and the cleaning nozzle (see point 5.3-5.4)
7.2 Adjust the intensity of the steam (13); for
this type of surface we recommend the Medium level of steam.
7.3 To clean windows and mirrors, press the
steam button to steam the surface thoroughly and dissolve the dirt (24). Then go back over the surface again, holding the nozzle down in order to remove dirt and moisture.
7.4 To clean tiles, use the adapter with the
cloth attached to the flexible hose and pass over the surface, dispensing steam, pressing the steam button on the Portable Cleaner (24), in order to remove the dirt.
8. CLEANING UPHOLSTERY, ARMCHAIRS, CUSHIONS
(mattresses, sofas, car interiors, etc.)
WARNING: Before cleaning leather or fabrics with steam, consult the manufacturer’s
instructions and always carry out a test on a hidden area or on a sample of the material. Allow the steamed area to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deformations have occurred. | 26 | Use only the Portable Steam Cleaner. Ensure that Section 3 has been followed. Turn on the appliance following the instructions listed in Point 2.4 and connect the accessories as shown in Section 3.
8.1 Adjust the intensity of the steam (13); for
this type of surface we recommend the Minimum level of steam.
8.2 Connect the upholstery accessory (see
5.3) with sockette to the flexible hose and the Portable Steam Cleaner. Go over the surface, creating the steam using the steam button on the Portable Cleaner (24), in order to remove dirt.

Steam Cleaner (24) and direct the jet onto a cloth.
WARNING: Do not direct the steam jet directly onto surfaces.
9. CLEANING BATHROOM
FIXTURES, GROUTING AND
KITCHEN WORKTOPS, BARBECUE
11.1 BRIGHTENING UP CURTAINS AND
DRAPES Mites and dust can be removed from curtains and drapes by steaming the fabric directly from the Portable Cleaner. The steam is able to remove odours and brighten up colours, allowing the fabric to be washed less frequently. For this surface, set the steam to Minimum level. Use only the Portable Steam Cleaner. Ensure that Section 3 has been followed.
9.1 Connect the lance (see 5.2) to the Portable
Steam Cleaner (the lance can be connected to the flexible hose for difficult-to-reach areas).
9.2 Connect the most suitable accessory
depending on the need:
- lance to reach tight spaces and achieve a more concentrated jet of steam.
- round brush to remove dry dirt and limescale.
- round brush with brass bristles to remove stubborn dried-on grease and dirt (barbecues, car or motorbike wheels, etc.).
- grout accessory to clean between tiles or to remove dirt from very narrow surfaces.
9.3 Adjust the intensity of the steam (13); for
this type of surface we recommend the Maximum level of steam.
9.4 Press the steam button on the Portable
Cleaner (24) then steam the surfaces.
10. CLEANING FURNITURE AND
WARNING: Before cleaning fabrics with
steam, consult the manufacturer’s instructions and always carry out a test on a hidden area or on a sample of the material. Use only the Portable Steam Cleaner. Ensure that Section 3 has been followed.
10.1 Connect the lance to the Portable Steam
Cleaner (see 5.2) (14).
10.2 Adjust the intensity of the steam (13); for
this type of surface we recommend the Minimum level of steam.
10.4 Use the cloth previously steamed to
clean the surface, avoiding prolonged use on the same spot.
WARNING: Before cleaning the surface, always do a test on a hidden area and see how
it reacts to the application of steam.
11.2 REMOVING STAINS FROM CARPETS
WARNING: Steam.
Risk of scalding! Direct the steam directly onto the stain with the greatest angle possible (never perpendicular to the surface to be cleaned) and place a cloth beyond the stain to collect the dirt that has been “blown” away by the steam pressure. For this surface, set the steam to Minimum level.
11.3 TAKING CARE OF PLANTS AND
HUMIDIFYING ROOMS To care for your house plants, remove the dust from the leaves using the steam. Use the Portable Steam Cleaner with the flexible hose attached to easily direct the jet (to attach it see Section 3). Steam the surface at a minimum distance of 50 cm, adjust the steam to the Minimum level. Plants breathe better and will be cleaner and brighter. The steam can also be used to refresh rooms, especially those frequented by smokers: steam the room by directing the jet towards the ceiling and distributing evenly. | 27 | ENGLISH
11. OTHER GENERAL USES
12. OUT OF WATER
The water level is always visible thanks to the transparent tank. When the water inside the tank has been used up, steam will stop being released. To restart operations just fill the water tank again as described in Section 3.
WARNING: This operation must always be
done after having disconnected the appliance from the mains. Ensure that the appliance is switched off and disconnected from the mains. To clean the outside of the appliance, use only a damp cloth and tap water. All steam cleaning accessories can be cleaned using running water, ensuring they are completely dry before the next use. After using the brushes, let the bristles cool down into their natural position, in order to avoid any deformation. Do not use detergents of any type. The cloths provided can be washed by following the instructions included on the label. The filter unit and the dust collector tank can be cleaned using running water, ensuring they are completely dry before the next use. Rinse the tank filter using running water only and shake gently to remove any excess dirt or water residue. Before replacing the filter in the appliance leave to dry naturally, away from sources of heat, for at least 24 hours. The EPA filter should be fully cleaned approximately every four months.
13. REPLACEMENT OF THE
LIMESCALE FILTER Polti Vaporetto 3 Clean / 3 Clean_Blue has a filter containing special resins capable of stopping the limescale and extending the life of your product. We recommend that the filter be changed 3 times per year.
13.1 Unplug from the mains electricity.
13.2 Remove the water tank from the Portable
Steam Cleaner, pressing the side buttons and pulling outwards (8).
13.3 Remove the old filter (25) by pulling
13.4 Position the new filter, push gently and
make sure that it is perfectly inserted (26), then replace the water tank. The limescale filters are on sale at all leading domestic-appliance retailers, at Authorised Service Centres and online www.polti.co.uk
14. EMPTYING AND CLEANING THE
DUST COLLECTOR TANK
14.1 Turn off the appliance by pressing the
side switch (10). Disconnect the power supply cable from the mains.
14.2 Unhook the dust collector tank from the
vacuum cleaner by pressing the two release buttons (27).
14.3 Extract the tank filter (28) and remove
the filter unit (29) pulling upwards.
14.4 Remove the filter unit lid by turning it
anti-clockwise, then empty the filter unit.
14.5 Empty the dust collector tank.
14.6 Replace and reposition the dust collector
tank on the appliance by performing these steps in reverse order. We recommend to clean the container after each use.
16. STORAGE
16.1 Turn off the appliance and disconnect
from the mains electricity.
16.2 Completely empty the water tank to

brush, wait a few minutes to allow it to cool.
16.4 Wind the power cable around the special
cable-winder hooks (30). Before using the appliance again, remember to unwind the power cable completely. The upper hook rotates 180° in order to wind up the power cable quickly.

WARNING: Do not use the appliance without

No steam is coming out. Out of water. Disconnect the appliance from the mains, fill the water tank and then use the appliance. Appliance turned off. Check that the appliance is connected to the power and that the steam ON/OFF switch is held down. The appliance is on but releases little steam. The steam is set to the Minimum level. Press the steam adjustment button to increase the steam being dispensed (see section 4). The appliance releases too much water on the floor. The steam is set to the Maximum level. Reduce the flow of steam to the minimum. If necessary, momentarily stop the disbursement of steam, while continuing to brush the surface. Press and hold the steam button. Do not hold the steam button, but release it to allow the temperature to stabilise. During vacuuming, power is reduced. Dust collector tank is full. Empty the dust collector tank. During suction, dust comes out of the appliance. Dust collector not inserted correctly. Insert the dust collector tank properly. Dust collector tank overfull. Empty the dust collector tank. Filter wrongly inserted. Insert the filter correctly. The dust collector tank does not detach. ENGLISH WARRANTY This appliance is for domestic use only and is guaranteed for two years from the date of purchase against any defects present at the time the goods are handed over; the date of purchase must be proven via a proof of purchase document valid for tax purposes and issued by the seller. For repairs, the appliance must be accompanied by proof of purchase. This warranty does not affect the consumer rights deriving from European Directive 99/44/EC as regards some aspects of sale and warranty of consumer goods, rights which the consumer should uphold against to the seller. This warranty is valid in the countries which adhere to European Directive 99/44/EC. For other countries, local regulations on warranties apply.
WHAT THE WARRANTY COVERS
During the warranty, Polti guarantees free repair of a product with a manufacturing or factory defect and, therefore, the client is not liable to pay for any work or materials. In case of irreparable defects, Polti may replace the product free of charge. To avail of the warranty, the customer should visit one of the Polti Authorised Service Centres or contact Customer Services with proof of purchase from the seller valid for tax purposes and bearing the date of purchase of the product. Without proof of purchase and the relative date of purchase, the work will be charged for. Store the proof of purchase document safely for the whole duration of the warranty.
WHAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER
- Any fault or damage not deriving from a manufacturing defect.
- Any fault due to improper use or use other than that indicated in the instruction booklet, an integral part of the product sales contract.
- Any defect resulting from force majeure (fires, short circuits) or caused by third parties (tampering).
- Damage caused by the use of non-original Polti parts, and repairs or modifications performed by staff or service centres not authorised by Polti. Damage caused by the customer.
- Parts (filter, brush, hose, battery, etc.) damaged by use (consumable goods) or normal wear and tear.
- Any damage caused by limescale.
- Defects resulting from lack maintenance/cleaning according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Assembly non-original Polti accessories or those that have been modified or which are not suitable for the appliance. Inappropriate use and/or use not compliant with the instructions for use and any other warnings or indications contained in this manual invalidates the warranty. Polti takes no responsibility for any direct or indirect damage to people, objects or animals caused non-compliance with the instructions indicated in this instruction booklet, regarding warnings for use and product maintenance.
