The products of the POLTI SANI SYSTEM range deliver superheated dry sa- turated steam in combination with Polti HPMED detergent to reduce the bacterial, fungal and viral load in environments at risk of biological contami- nation from surfaces and fabrics. Developed in 2006 in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pavia and entirely built in Italy, they allow frequent and rapid disinfection and sanitization of any type of environment and surface even in the presence of people and animals .   • Do not connect the appliance to the mains if the voltage does not correspond with that of the electrical circuit in use.

  • Do not pull or jerk the cable or expose it to tensions (twisting, crushing or stretching). Keep the cable away from hot and/or sharp surfaces and elements.   • Only pour water or the water mix indicated in the section “Which water to use in the boiler” into the boiler.

  • Do not direct the steam jet onto explosive powders or liquids, hydrocarbons, open flames and or extremely hot objects.
  • The handling and removal of dangerous substances must be carried out according to the indications of the manufacturers of these substances.
  • Do not position the product near sources of heat such as fireplaces, stoves and ovens.
  • Do not position the product near electromagnetic fields such as induction plates.
  • Re-wind the cable when the appliance is not in use.
  • Use the special carry handle for transport. Do not pull the power cable. Do not use the power cable as a handle. Do not lift the appliance using the power cable or the steam hoses/vacuum tubes.
  • Do not obstruct the openings and grills on the product.
  • Do not direct the steam jet on any part of the body of people or animals.

  • Cloths and rags and fabrics which have been subjected to a deep steam reach very high temperatures, above 100°C. Wait a few minutes and check that they have cooled before handling them. Therefore, avoid contact with the skin if they have just been steamed. The steam lock on the handle guarantees greater safety, as it prevents the accidental activation of steam delivery by children or people who are unaware of the function of the appliance. When steam is not being used, engage the steam lock. To continue steam delivery, return the switch to its original position.
  • Always use the appliance with the safety cap supplied or an ENGLISH | 23 |original replacement part. Using non-original Polti safety caps can lead to accidents.
  • When accessing the pressurised boiler (removing the cap, filling up), ensure that the appliance has been switched off at the power switch and disconnected from the mains for at least two hours, allowing it to cool. There is a risk of accidents while the boiler is switched on/hot and pressurised.
  • Do not connect the appliance with the safety cap removed. Carefully tighten the safety cap before plugging in and turning on the appliance.
  • Before turning on the appliance, check that there is nothing blocking the mouth of the boiler (filler bottle, funnel, or other objects), and that the safety cap is closed.
  • Check that the safety cap is correctly tightened; if steam is escaping from the cap, switch off the boiler, unplug the power cable, wait for two hours for the appliance to cool, and then unscrew. Check the condition of the safety cap and seal. If the cap is in good condition, screw it back on completely. If steam continues to escape from the cap, leave it to cool for 2 hours, then take the appliance to the nearest authorised service centre.
  • Periodically check the condition of the safety cap and seal. Impact and being dropped may compromise the safety of the cap. Replace with an original spare part or replace the seal.
  • If the cap spins freely, this indicates that the boiler is still pressurised and therefore hot. Never force the cap open, whether the appliance is switched on or the boiler is switched off and the appliance is disconnected from the mains. Always wait for the boiler to cool for 2 hours before opening the cap without forcing it.
  • Do not use tools to unscrew the cap. If the cap cannot be removed, even once the appliance has cooled, go to your nearest authorised service centre.
  • WARNING Never fill the boiler as soon as the safety cap has been opened when the boiler is still hot, even if the appliance is unplugged from the mains. On contact with the hot, empty boiler, cold water will evaporate producing a spray of steam which can cause burns. Only fill the boiler ENGLISH | 24 |when cold and always keep your face away from the boiler mouth when filling.
  • The use of non-original Polti caps and disregard for the instructions in this manual constitutes improper use. Polti S.p.A. declines all liability for any accident deriving from any improper use of this appliance. RISKS RELATED TO USE OF THE IRONING ACCESSORY
  • Iron only on surfaces that are heat resistant and which allow the steam to permeate.
  • When placing the iron on its stand, make sure that the surface on which the stand is placed, is stable.
  • If the iron rest mat needs to be replaced, only use original spare parts.
  • The iron must be used with the ironing mat provided.
  • The iron must be used and rested on a flat stable surface.
  • The iron is not to be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage or if it is leaking.
  • Do not place the hot appliance on heat-sensitive surfaces.
  • If ironing whilst sitting down, take care to ensure that the jet of steam is not angled towards your legs. Steam can scald.
  • Before connecting the appliance to the current, ensure that the continuous steam jet button is not pressed (if present).
  • Never leave the iron unattended when it is plugged in. ENGLISH

| 25 |CORRECT USE OF THE PRODUCT

This appliance is intended for home and simi- lar professional use, according to the descrip- tions and instructions given in this manual. Please read these instructions carefully and keep them. If this manual is lost, it can be consulted and/or downloaded from the web- site www.polti.co.uk. POLTI S.p.A. reserves the right to make the aesthetic, technical and construction changes it deems necessary, without prior notice. Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your Polti Sani System may contain some re- sidual water in the boiler. The intended use of the product is only as indicated in this instruc- tion booklet and in the protocol for use. Any other use may damage the appliance and in- validate the warranty. Polti S.p.A. declines all responsibility for acci- dents resulting from the use of this appliance in a manner that does not comply with these instructions for use.

INFORMATION FOR USERS

Pursuant to European Directive 2012/19/EU, regarding electric and electronic appliances, this appliance must not be disposed of with domestic waste, but sent to an official collec- tion facility. This appliance complies with EU Directive 2011/65/EU. The crossed-out bin symbol on the appliance indicates that, at the end of its useful lifespan, the product must be disposed of separately from other waste. Therefore, at the end of its life, the user must hand over the appliance to an appropriate collection centre for electric and electronic waste or, according to the legislation in force in the country, leave the used appliance with the distributor when buying a new product to replace it. Proper separate waste collection to facilitate the subsequent recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible disposal of the appliance helps to prevent negative effects on the environment and human health, and promotes recycling of the materials the product is made of. Unlawful disposal by the owner involves the application of the administrative sanctions envisaged by current legislation.

WHICH WATER TO USE IN THE

BOILER This appliance has been designed to function with normal medium tap water between 8°f and 20°f. If the tap water contains a lot of li- mescale use a mix composed of 50% tap wa- ter and 50% demineralised water which is wi- dely available to purchase. Do not use pure demineralised water.

Warning: check the hardness of the water at

the technical office at your local council or the local water supplier. If you only use tap water, you can reduce the formation of limescale by using the special Polti Kalstop limescale product, distributed by Polti, and available for sale at all major do- mestic-appliance stores or online at www.pol- ti.com. Never use distilled water, rain water or water containing additives (e.g. starch, perfumes), or water produced by other domestic ap- pliances, by water softeners or filter jugs. Do not add chemical, natural, detergent, or li- mescale removing substances, etc. POLTI HPMED Polti HPMed is an adjuvant detergent for the sanitising action of steam.

1. PREPARING FOR USE

1.1 Remove the appliance from the packaging,

checking that the product is whole and that all the parts are there.

1.2 Attach the pivoting wheels to the base of

Polti Sani System Business applying pressure (1-2).

1.3 Unscrew the safety cap (E)(3) and fill the

boiler with 2l of water (5-6)(if completely

( ) and the steam dispenser light to turn off (18). The pressure gauge signals that there is pressure in the boiler. The appliance is ready for use.

Adjust the flow of steam to an average posi- tion by turning the knob on the steam gene- rator (19).

The spacer stand (D) can be used in the open (F) or closed (G) position depending on the treatment to be carried out. You can also use the spacer stand in the middle position to rest the gun (H). The safety button (C) on the gun prevents ac- cidental activation of the steam supply. When the steam is not used, move the safety button to the stop position (20). To resume dispen- sing, return the button to its initial position (21). To dispense steam, press the trigger on the gun (23). Treatment: dispense "non-usable" steam for 2 seconds and, without interrupting the flow, position the jet perpendicular to the surface or fabric. Refer to the Protocol for Use for the treatment of surfaces and fabrics. Wait for rapid and spontaneous drying. Drying times depend on the environmental conditions (temperature and humidity), on correct use and on the nature and tempera- ture of the surfaces. Complete drying with a disposable cloth only if strictly necessary.

about 30 seconds downwards to reach the optimum operating temperature and pres- sure. At the first use after switching on the appliance, some drops of water may be mixed with the steam due to imperfect ther- mal stabilization

WARNING: For additional safety, test steam

6. GENERAL MAINTENANCE

To clean the outside of the appliance, only use a damp cloth and tap water. Clean the steam gun after every 10 uses or if visibly dirty. Clean the dispensing nozzle using the brush included, sli- ding it inside the gun so as to remove any limescale residue in it. Do not use detergents of any type. Every 2 months, rinse the boiler with tap wa- ter: - Unplug the appliance and let it cool for at least 2 hours, if it is hot; - Unscrew the safety cap; - Turn the appliance upside down and empty the residual water out of the boiler; - Pour 500 ml of cold water into the boiler; - Rinse the boiler by shaking it and empty the remaining water.

Polti Kalstop is a descaler for boiler applian- ces. Regular use of Polti Kalstop, every time the tank is filled with water: - Extends the life of the appliance. - Allows emission of a “drier” steam - Prevents limescale build up. - Protects the walls of the boiler. - Contributes to saving energy.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION

The appliance does not turn on. No power. Check that the product has been connected to the mains, as indicated in Section 1. The “steam ready” indicator light and the steam dispenser light come on and go off du- ring use. This indicates that the electrical resistor has started to work to keep the pressure constant It is a normal phenomenon, no action is necessary. Does not dispense steam. Out of water. The boiler is not yet pressurised. The steam dispenser is not inserted correctly. Child safety inserted. Add water to the boiler as de- scribed in Section 5. ENGLISH | 30 |WARRANTY This appliance is guaranteed for one year from the date of purchase if purchased by a professional/commercial business with an in- voice (VAT number). If the purchase is made by a consumer with a tax receipt, the war- ranty period is two years, as required by the Consumer Code. The date of purchase and the duration of the guarantee must be proven by the tax document issued by the seller:

  • Invoice: one year warranty
  • Tax receipt: two-year warranty For repairs, the appliance must be accompa- nied by proof of purchase. This warranty does not affect the consumer rights deriving from European Directive 99/44/EC as regards some aspects of sale and warranty of consumer goods, rights whi- ch the consumer should uphold with respect to the seller. This warranty is valid in the countries which adhere to European Directive 99/44/EC. For other countries, local regulations on warran- ties apply.

WHAT THE WARRANTY COVERS

During the warranty, Polti guarantees free re- pair of a product with a manufacturing or fac- tory defect and, therefore, the client is not lia- ble to pay for any work or materials. In case of irreparable defects, Polti may repla- ce the product free of charge. To avail of the warranty, the customer should visit one of the Polti Authorised Service Cen- tres with proof of purchase from the seller va- lid for tax purposes and bearing the date of purchase of the product. Without proof of purchase and the relative date of purchase, the work will be charged for. Store the proof of purchase document safely for the whole duration of the warranty.

WHAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER

  • Any fault or damage not deriving from a manufacturing defect.
  • Any fault due to improper use or use other than that indicated in the instruc- tion booklet, an integral part of the pro- duct sales contract.
  • Any defect resulting from force majeure (fires, short circuits) or caused by third parties (tampering).
  • Damage caused by the use of non-original Polti parts, and repairs or modifications performed by staff or service centres not authorised by Polti.
  • Damage caused by the customer.
  • Parts (filter, brush, hose, battery, etc.) da- maged by use (consumable goods) or normal wear and tear.
  • Any damage caused by limescale.
  • Defects resulting from lack of mainte- nance/cleaning according to the manu- facturer’s instructions.
  • Assembly of non-original Polti accesso- ries or those that have been modified or which are not suitable for the appliance. Inappropriate use and/or use not compliant with the instructions for use and any other warnings or indications contained in this ma- nual invalidates the warranty. Polti takes no responsibility for any direct or indirect damage to people, objects or animals caused by non-compliance with the instruc- tions indicated in this instruction booklet, re- garding warnings for use and product main- tenance.
