Thank you for purchasing a LANAFORM® LUMINO PLUS. This appliance will help you combat fatigue, apathy and the lack of energy that we often have in autumn and in winter when it is grey outside and the days are getting shorter. These symptoms express what is termed the winter blues.

LUMINO PLUS is based on the use of a very bright light which simulates the natural rays of the sun. The light produced by LUMINO PLUS naturally re-establishes the light signals that are essential for feeling good and full of energy. Thanks to its technology and a higher diffusion of light (about 14,000 Lux at 16 cm)*, LUMINO PLUS will quickly give you your energy and vitality back. You can use LUMINO PLUS while doing other activities, such as reading, writing, using the telephone, and even professional activities. * More than 14,000 Lux at a distance of 16cm when the 3 tubes are lit. In this respect, please refer to the instructions for use.

ABOUT EXPOSURE TO LIGHT Light and its intensity have a major influence on the body’s vital processes. During the autumn and winter seasons, there is less sunshine. The conventional artificial lighting in buildings is not able to offset this deficit in natural light. The consequences of this decrease in luminosity can result in a lack of drive and energy, insomnia or melancholy, problems in concentrating and difficulties getting up in the morning. We refer to all of these symptoms as a whole using the expression «seasonal affective disorder or winter blues».

Many health professionals agree that exposure to luminosity is beneficial in treating the winter blues. By luminosity, they mean daylight with a certain intensity. In winter, the lighting intensity may not exceed 2,500 Lux*, while in summer it can reach 100,000 Lux on a nice summer day. LANAFORM has therefore developed this special lighting device that allows you to benefit from the amount of light you need to chase the winter blues away. Exposure to light consists in using light with a high lux* coefficient in order to simulate natural light from the sun. With regular exposure to light with a high lux coefficient over a given period of time, the symptoms of the winter blues can be greatly reduced, and even disappear. * The lux is the unit of measurement for the luminance of light.

IMPORTANT SAFETY MEASURES Please read these instructions before using the appliance. Please also follow these instructions carefully while using the appliance

• Only use this appliance for the purposes described in this manual. • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) whose physical, sensorial or mental capabilities are impaired, or by persons lacking experience or knowledge, unless they are supervised or instructed in the use of the appliance first by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. • Before connecting the appliance, check that the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the mains supply voltage. • Please do not use accessories which are not recommended by LANAFORM® or which are not supplied with this appliance. • It is prohibited to modify this appliance in any way. • If the power supply lead is damaged, it must be replaced by a similar one available from the supplier or its after-sales service.

• Do not use this appliance if the plug is damaged, if it is not working correctly, if it has been dropped or if it is damaged or if it has fallen into water. If this is the case, have the appliance inspected and repaired by the supplier or its after-sales department.

• Do not transport this appliance by carrying it by its power lead and do not use this lead as a handle. • Always disconnect the appliance from the mains after use or before cleaning it. • An electrical appliance should never be left plugged in and unsupervised. Disconnect it from the mains if you are not using it. • Keep the power lead away from hot surfaces. • Do not use this product before going to bed. Exposure to light has a stimulating effect which may inhibit sleep. • Never let anything fall into and never insert anything into one of the openings. • Do not use this appliance in a humid environment (in a bathroom, near a shower, etc.). • Never use this appliance in a room where aerosol products (sprays) are used or in a room where oxygen is administered. • Do not use this appliance under a cover or under a cushion. Excessive heat may cause a fire, electrocution of the individual or other injuries. • This appliance is intended exclusively for family use. The use of LUMINO PLUS is therefore not equivalent to a medical treatment. • Do not use the appliance in a room which is not lit by another source of light, as this can lead to eyestrain. Use this appliance as a supplement for normal lighting (daylight or electric lighting). • If you feel any pain while using this appliance, stop using it immediately and consult your doctor. • We recommend that you do not look at the lamp during your session. Pain in the eyes may occur during the first sessions; this will disappear afterwards. • Consult your doctor before using LUMINO PLUS if: - you are suffering or have suffered from serious depression; - you suffer from hypersensitivity to light; - you are afflicted with an eye disorder; - you are taking certain medications (e.g. certain antidepressants, psychotropic drugs, tablets for malaria) which could have a an effect contradicting the use of LUMINO PLUS; - you have high blood pressure. • Exposure time depends in particular on the distance between you and the LUMINO PLUS. Refer to the chapter on «Instructions for use» for the recommended distances and exposure times.

EN INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE It is recommended to use LUMINO PLUS preferably between 6 am and 8 pm.

1. Insert the base of the LUMINO PLUS into the main part as shown in the drawing (Fig. 3). Make sure that the lamp is properly connected to its base before placing it on a solid surface. 2. Place your LUMINO PLUS on a solid surface, such as a table, and adjust the orientation of the LUMINO PLUS. It can be tilted to 35°. (Fig. 4) 3. Connect the power lead to the mains. USE: • You can choose from among two type of light intensity: - Position I: 2 36W PLL tubes for an intensity of about 7,200 Lux at a distance of 20cm. - Position II: 3 36W PLL tubes for an intensity of about 12,000 Lux at a distance of 20 cm. • The recommended exposure time to LUMINO PLUS depends on the distance in relation to the lamp as well as the light intensity selected. However, it is generally recommended to use the appliance for 2 hours at a light intensity of 2,500 Lux. According to the table below, you can easily calculate the recommended exposure time: Distance 16 cm 22 cm 28 cm 36 cm 45 cm

• Position yourself in front of the appliance and adjust the angle of the LUMINO PLUS.

- The distance between your face and the screen should be from 15 to 50cm. Adapt the latter according to your preferences and comfort for your eyes. - You do not have to sit directly in front of the appliance. - You can space out the duration of your light therapy session. • Do not look at the lamp directly. During the session, you can read, write, telephone, etc. • Exposure must be regular and during a prolonged period. During the darkest days of the year, repeat the treatment for at least 7 consecutive days, according to individual requirements. • After use, stop the machine by turning the button located on the front of the appliance to position «0» and disconnect it. • If during the session of exposure to light you feel eye pain or other discomfort, immediately stop using LUMINO PLUS and consult your doctor.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE Cleaning:

• Disconnect the appliance and allow it to cool down. • Use a cloth or wet sponge to clean the outside surface of the lamp. • Do not use scouring pads, abrasive products or aggressive detergents such as acetone or petrol to clean the appliance.

• Store the unit in a cool and dry place away from children.

EN REPLACING THE TUBES Other than the tubes, the appliance does not contain any other parts to replace. The tubes are designed for approximately

8,000 hours of use (which corresponds to several years of normal operation). The tubes must be replaced with similar tubes. To replace the tubes, please follow the instructions below: - Use a screwdriver (not provided) to loosen the 4 screws located on the rear of the product (see Fig. 5.) - Then remove the reflector cover as shown in the diagram (Fig. 6.) - Remove the end clamps and remove the latter as shown in the diagram (Fig.7). - When you have replaced the tube, put the reflector cover back into place before using the LUMINO PLUS again.

ADVICE REGARDING THE DISPOSAL OF WASTE

• All the packaging is composed of materials that pose no hazard for the environment and which can be disposed of at your local sorting centre to be used as secondary raw materials. The cardboard may be disposed of in a paper recycling bin. The packaging film must be taken to your local sorting and recycling centre. • When you have finished using the device, please dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way and in accordance with the law.

LIMITED WARRANTY LANAFORM® guarantees this product against any material or manufacturing defect for a period of two years from the date of purchase, except in the circumstances described below.

The LANAFORM® guarantee does not cover damage caused as a result of normal wear to this product. In addition, the guarantee covering this LANAFORM® product does not cover damage caused by abusive or inappropriate or incorrect use, accidents, the use of unauthorized accessories, changes made to the product or any other circumstance, of whatever sort, that is outside LANAFORM®’s control. LANAFORM® may not be held liable for any type of circumstantial, indirect or specific damage. All implicit guarantees relating to the suitability of the product are limited to a period of two years from the initial date of purchase as long as a copy of the proof of purchase can be supplied. On receipt, LANAFORM® will repair or replace your appliance at its discretion and will return it to you. The guarantee is only valid through LANAFORM®’s Service Centre®. Any attempt to maintain this product by a person other than LANAFORM®’s Service Centre will render this guarantee void.
