Frequently Asked Questions - LINK DICOTA

How to install the DICOTA LINK driver under Windows 98SE?
Insert the provided CD, click 'Start', then 'Run', type D:\T-bird Win98Driver.exe (replace D with your CD drive letter) and follow the instructions. Restart the computer, plug in the LINK, then restart again if necessary.
Does the DICOTA LINK work under Windows 10?
The manual indicates official compatibility with Windows 98SE to XP. Under Windows 10, the driver is not provided and may not be recognized. It is recommended to use a modern USB adapter for recent systems.
How to transfer files between two computers with the LINK?
Install the drivers on both PCs, connect them with the provided USB cable via the LINK. On each PC, double-click 'My Computer' then the 'Removable Disk' icon (98SE/ME) or 'EasyCopyNet' (2000/XP). You can then drag and drop the files.
Why does my computer not detect the DICOTA LINK?
Check that the drivers are installed correctly. Try another USB port. Restart the computer after plugging in. Make sure the cable is properly connected. Under Windows 98SE, the driver must be installed manually.
What to do if data transfer fails or is slow?
Make sure both computers are set for read/write sharing (disable 'Share as Read only'). Check that the USB cable is in good condition and the ports are USB 2.0. Avoid long cables or unpowered USB hubs.
Can I use the LINK without the installation CD?
Under Windows ME, 2000 and XP, the driver is built into the system: the LINK is automatically recognized. Under Windows 98SE, the CD is essential. You can also download the driver from the manufacturer's website if available.
Is the DICOTA LINK compatible with Mac or Linux?
No, the manual mentions only Windows. The provided software is not compatible with Mac OS or Linux. It might work as a generic storage device, but without guarantee of data transfer.
How to resolve a radio interference problem with the LINK?
Move the adapter away from the radio receiver, plug it into a different outlet, or reorient the antenna. The LINK is FCC Class B certified, but improper installation may cause interference.
What to do if the 'Removable Disk' does not appear after connection?
Check that the driver is properly installed (especially under 98SE). Restart the computer. Try plugging in the LINK after startup. Under 2000/XP, check in Device Manager that the device is recognized.
What is the warranty of the DICOTA LINK?
The warranty is 2 years. In case of problem, contact your dealer or after-sales service at info@dicota.com. Visit www.dicota.com for full terms.
