Thank you for buying this Terraillon infrared electronic thermometer. We hope it gives you excellent service and to ensure complete satisfaction, we recommend you read these instructions carefully. The infrared sensor of the Multithermo thermometer records the heat generated by the eardrum (this reflects the temperature of the nervous system in the brain which regulates the temperature of the body) or on the surface of the forehead. It also measures the ambient temperature of your room. Quick and accurate, it takes 512 measurements per second and displays the highest temperature in 1 second. Practical and hygienic, the sensor is washable so a protective tip does not need to be used. It’s easy to use, switching from forehead measurement mode to ear measurement mode when you remove the protective cap and its liquid crystal display with big figures is easy to read. It’s discreet but always there within reach on its stand, displaying the time and ambient temperature on standby.

1. Temperature varies according to the part of the body where it is taken. That’s why temperature readings taken orally, under the arm, rectally, in the ear or on the forehead should not be compared.

Take your temperatures when you are completely well. You can use these results as reference temperatures and compare them with your temperature readings when you are ill. Is your temperature abnormally high or abnormally low compared to normal? Do not hesitate to consult a doctor if in doubt.

2. Temperature also varies from one person to another, according to age and the time of day.

Press the ‘on’ button of the thermometer to set the minutes. Confirm by pressing the time set button. On standby, the screen will alternately display the ambient temperature and the time.

With its protective cap on, the device is in forehead mode by default. When the protective cap is removed, the thermometer automatically switches to ear mode.

USING YOUR THERMOMETER FOR THE FIRST TIME

Press the temperature reading button. There is a beep, then the latest temperature in the memory is displayed. Press the temperature reading button and keep it depressed. Place the sensor on one of your temples. Slide the sensor across your forehead to the other temple. Release the button to stop the measurement. There is a beep and your temperature is displayed.

The device is supplied with a 3V battery

(CR2032) already in place, so it is ready to use.

*The forehead temperature shown corresponds exactly to the oral temperature.

The first time you use this thermometer or after changing the battery, you have to set the time.

The forehead temperature can be subject to the influence of outside climatic conditions. In case of doubt, do not hesitate to take the temperature in the ear.

Release the button. Remove the sensor from the ear. Your temperature is displayed. Important: In order to get an accurate measurement, make sure that you position the sensor in the ear correctly so that the tip of the sensor picks up the heat generated by the eardrum. To do this, you can pull the ear to straighten the canal and turn the sensor slightly inside (For users under the age of 1, pull the ear backwards gently; for children over 1, pull the ear up and back).

CHANGING THE BATTERY When the "

" symbol appears on the screen, this means that the battery is running low. When the screen displays " " , this means that the battery has run out and has to be changed.

Open the battery compar tment by pressing the button on the back of the device with the tip of a pen. Remove the used battery.

Replace it with a 3V lithium CR2032 battery, inserting it into the designated space. The widest part of the battery must be on top. The “+” must remain visible once the battery is in place. Replace the cover. The device is ready to use. (Do not throw away used batteries. Put them in a special container for collection and recycling).

1. Taking your temperature is a way of monitoring it. It does not mean a diagnosis can be made or a treatment prescribed. A doctor should always be informed of abnormal readings.

Do not change the doses of drugs prescribed by the doctor under any circumstances.

5. Do not immerse the thermometer in water or any liquid whatsoever because only the sensor is impermeable.

The thermometer goes on standby automatically after 30 seconds if no buttons are activated.

6. The Multithermo thermometer can only be used to take the temperature in the ear and on the forehead and to measure ambient temperature. Do not use it to take the temperature rectally, orally or under the arm.

7. Do not touch the end of the sensor with the fingers.

SWITCHING OFF YOUR THERMOMETER Clean the thermometer sensor with cotton wool soaked in surgical spirit before and after each use. Do not use abrasive substances. Do not immerse the thermometer in water or any liquid whatsoever because only the sensor is impermeable.

8. Do not take a temperature reading less than 30 minutes after eating, exercising or taking a bath.

9. Take temperature readings at oneminute intervals. Two successive temperature readings may give slightly different results. In this case, use the average of the two.
