The Ultra compact forehead thermometer is a high quality product incorporating the latest technology and tested in accordance with international standards. With its unique and clinically tested technology, the ultra compact forehead thermometer can provide a stable reading comparable with an oral temperature.   • Do not use the instrument if you think it is damaged or notice anything unusual.

  • This instrument comprises sensitive components and must be treated with caution. Observe the storage and operating conditions described in the «Technical Specifications » section!
  • Protect it from: – extreme temperatures – impact and dropping – contamination and dust – direct sunlight – heat and cold
  • If the instrument is not going to be used for a prolonged period the batteries should be removed.
  • Ensure that children do not use the instrument unsupervised; some parts are small enough to be swallowed.

3. How this Thermometer measures Temperature

The thermometer measures infrared energy radiated from the skin above of the eyebrow area and the surrounding tissue. This energy is collected through the lens and converted to a temperature value. Temperature readings obtained by scanning above the eyebrow area will provide the greatest accuracy.

4. Control Displays and Symbols

  • All segments displayed 6 : Press the «ON/OFF» button 4 to turn on the unit, all segments will be shown for 2 seconds.
  • Memory 7 : The last reading will be shown on the display automatically for 2 seconds.
  • Ready for measurement 8 : The unit is ready for measurement, the «°C» or «°F» icon will keep flashing.
  • Measurement complete 9 : The reading will be shown on the display 3 with the «°C» or «°F» icon flashing, the unit is ready again for the next measurement.
  • Low battery indication 10 : When the unit is turned on, the battery icon will keep flashing to remind the user to replace the battery.

5. Directions for Use

1. Press the «ON/OFF» button 4 . The display 3 is activated to

show all segments for 2 seconds.

2. The last measurement reading will be shown on the display

automatically for 2 seconds with the «M» icon 7 .

3. When the «°C» or «°F» icon is flashing, a beep sound is heard

and the thermometer is ready for measurement 8 .

4. Place the probe gently onto the area approximately 1cm above

the center of the eyebrow. If the eyebrow area is covered with hair, sweat or dirt, please remove the obstacle beforehand to improve the reading accuracy.

5. Press the «START» button once and release it. Start to move

the instrument steadily from 1 cm above the center of the eyebrow to the temple area. A long beepsound will emit after 3 seconds to acknowledge the completion of measurement. If the probe movement is too slow to reach the temple area before the long beeb sound heard, repeat the measurement as above from point 4, but simply move the probe a little quicker this time.

6. Read the recorded temperature from the LCD display.

  • Patients and thermometer should stay in steady-state room condition for at least 30 minutes.
  • Don't take a measurement while or immediately after nursing a baby.
  • Don't use the forehead thermometer in high humidity environments.
  • Patients should not drink, eat, or exercise before/whil taking the measurement.
  • Before placing the thermometer probe onto the measurement area, remove dirt, hair, or sweat.
  • Don't move the measurement device from the measuring area before hearing the termination beep.
  • Use an alcohol swab to carefully clean the probe and wait for 15 minutes before taking a measurement on another patient.
  • 10 short beeps will sound and a red LCD backlight will illuminate when the temperature is higher than 37.5 °C (99.5 °F) in order to alert the patient that he/she may have a temperature
  • Always take the temperature in the same location, since the temperature readings may vary from different locations.
  • In the following situations it is recommended that three temperatures in the same location be taken and the highest one taken as the reading:

1. If the measurement is surprisingly low.

2. Children under three years of age with a compromised immune

system and for whom the presence or absence of fever is critical.

3. When the user is learning how to use the thermometer for the

first time until he/she has familiarized himself/herself with the instrument and obtainsconsistent readings.

6. Celsius to Fahrenheit switchable

This thermometer can display temperature measurements in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. To switch the display between °C and °F, simply turn OFF the unit, press and hold the «START» button 2 for 5 seconds; When you stop pressing the «START» button 2 after 5 seconds, the current measurement scale («°C» or «°F» icon) will be flashed on the display 11 . Toggle the measurement scale between °C and °F by pressing the «START» button 2 again. When the measurement scale has been chosen, wait for 5 seconds and the unit will enter the ready for measuring mode automatically.

7. How to recall 12 readings in Memory Mode

This thermometer can recall the last 12 readings.

  • Recall mode 12 : Press the «START» button 2 to enter Recall mode when power is off. The memory icon «M» flashes.
  • Memories 13 : Press and release the «START» button 2 consecutively to recall readings in succession, up to the last 12 readings. Pressing and releasing the «START» button 2 after the last 12 readings have been recalled will resume the above sequence from reading 1.
  • Measured temperature too high 14 : Displays «H» when measured temperature higher than 42.2 °C or 108.0 °F.
  • Measured temperature too low 15 : Displays «L» when measured temperature lower than 34.0 °C or 93.2 °F.
  • Error function display 18 : When system has malfunction.
  • Blank display 19 : Please check if the battery has been loaded correctly. Also check polarity (<+> and <->) of batteries.
  • Dead battery indication 20 : If the steady battery icon is the only symbol shown on the display, the batteries should be replaced immediately.

9. Cleaning and Disinfecting

Use an alcohol swab or cotton tissue moistened with alcohol (70% Isopropyl) to clean the thermometer casing and the measuring probe. Ensure that no liquid enters the interior of the thermometer.

Never use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners or benzene for cleaning and never immerse the instrument in water or other cleaning liquids. Take care not to scratch the surface of the probe lens and the display.

10. Battery Replacement

This instrument is supplied with one lithium battery, type CR2032. Replace with a new CR2032 battery when the flashing battery symbol appears on the display 20 . Remove the battery cover by sliding it in the direction shown. Remove the battery and replace with a new one 21 .

This instrument is covered by a 2 year guarantee from the date of purchase. The guarantee is valid only on presentation of the guarantee card completed by the dealer (see last page) confirming date of purchase or the till receipt.

  • The guarantee covers the instrument, batteries and packaging are not included.
