How do I change the abrasive disc on my AEG DSE 220 sander?

To change the disc, press the spindle lock button (usually located at the back of the sander) to hold the shaft, then unscrew the disc counterclockwise. Place the new disc and tighten by hand.

What type of abrasive paper should I use?

Use 125 mm diameter abrasive discs with Velcro attachment. The grit should be suitable for the job: grit 40-60 for roughing, 80-120 for fine sanding.

Is the AEG DSE 220 sander suitable for curved surfaces?

Yes, thanks to its eccentric pad, it is suitable for sanding flat and slightly curved surfaces. For pronounced curves, use a triangular sander.

How do I adjust the sanding speed?

The speed is adjusted via the knob on top of the sander. Turn it to select the desired speed (1 to 6). High speed is recommended for rough sanding, low speed for finishing.

Does the AEG DSE 220 sander have a dust extraction system?

Yes, it has a rear dust extraction outlet that can be connected to a vacuum via an adapter (not included). It can also use an integrated dust bag.

What should I do if the sander no longer starts?

Brief description

Infinitely variable electronic speed pre-selection for working a large variety of surfaces.

Mains connection		Connect only to a single-phase AC current supply and only to the mains voltage specified on the rating plate. Connection to sockets without earth protection is possible as the appliance features protective insulation to DIN 57 740/ VDE 0740 and CEE 20. Radio suppression complies with the European standard EN 55014. When fitting the plug, make sure that the brown (live) wire of this appliance is connected to the plug terminal marked L or coloured red, and the blue (neutral) wire of this appliance is connected to the plug terminal marked N or coloured black. Under no circumstances must the wires of this appliance be connected to the earth terminal of the plug marked either E, with the earth symbol, or coloured green or green/yellow.
Switching on and off		Switching on: Move the slide switch to the left in direction of arrow. The switch engages.
		Switching off: Depress "OFF" button of the slide switch. The switch moves automatically back to the 0-position.
Electronics		Due to the electronic the speed can be controlled by setting the wheel to suit the various materials.
Speed selection	The speed is adjusted by means of the electronic thumb wheel.1 = lowest r.p.m.6 = largest r.p.m.
Mounting the base plate/ lamella base plate	!	Always disconnect the plug from the socket before carrying out any work on the machine. Mount the base plate (turned approx. 15°) to the tool reception (as shown in illustration) and turn it in direction of arrow until it locks.

Fitting the sandpaper	[4KDS]	To remove the base plate depress the locking button and remove the base plate from the reception by turning it.To mounting/remove the lamella base plate proceed analogously.Should the Velcro coat at the top of the base plate be worn after longer use, the base plate can be turned 120° and be re-mounted. This ensures a perfect fit of the sanding paper at the top.
Dust extractionConnecting the dust-remover		Always disconnect the plug from the socket before carrying out any work on the machine.Simply press the required sandpaper to the Velcro faced base plate. To remove, pull it off. The holes in the sandpaper must conform with the holes in the base plate.
		When producing large quantities of dust, a suction hose (35 mm diameter) can be connected via the provided adapter. The suction hose can be connected with an AEG wet-and-dry vacuum cleaner. We recommend the use of the AEG wet-and-dry vacuum cleaner NTE 1100. It enables connecting the tool directly to the socket of the vacuum cleaner. When switching on the tool, the vacuum cleaner switches on automatically.Insert the suction hose connector into the adapter until it sits firmly. Connect the other end of the suction hose to a vacuum cleaner which is suited for dust extraction.
Advices for operationOptimum speed of rotation	■ Always start sanding with coarse sanding paper. Then use finer paper until reaching the required smoothness of the surface.■ Always switch on the machine before starting to sand. Remove the tool from the workpiece before switching it off. The workpiece could be scratched if the machine is not removed from the workpiece before running out.■ Smoothly lead the machine over the workpiece applying light pressure. Applying too much pressure reduces the stroke rate and therefore the sanding performance!■ Sand larger surfaces in widths. Let the widths overlay slightly.The optimum speed of rotation also depends on the hardness of the material to be worked as well as the quality and the graining of the used sandpaper:
