Frequently Asked Questions - Power Lizard SUL 1-2P Vaude

How to set up the Power Lizard SUL tent?
Start by spreading the tent on the ground and assemble the poles (2 short poles and one long pole). Insert one end of the pole into the metal eyelet (A) of the flysheet and the other end into the opposite eyelet. Attach the powerframe hooks (B) onto the poles starting with those in the middle. Insert the pole ends at the head and foot from the outside, threading them through the strap (C). Tension the tent with pegs (3 at the head, 3 at the foot). Open the entrance and tension the powerframe with the tensioner (D). Fasten the hooks by closing the red clips.
How to care for my Vaude tent?
After each use, dry the tent completely to prevent mold. To clean, use a cloth and soapy water (e.g., Nikwax Tech Wash). Never machine wash or dry clean. Wipe the pegs and poles with a dry cloth. Sticky zippers can be lubricated with a little wax.
What to do if a pole breaks?
Use the provided repair sleeve: slide it onto the tube up to the break and secure it with adhesive tape. A damaged segment can be replaced by untying the internal elastic cord. Never try to straighten a bent pole, as this deformation is normal and increases its strength.
Is the tent waterproof?
Yes, the Power Lizard SUL is one of the first tents in the world with welded seams on fully silicone-coated fabric, guaranteeing 100% waterproofness. The flysheet withstands a water column of 3000 mm and the floor 10,000 mm.
Can I machine wash my tent?
No, it is strictly not recommended to wash the tent in a machine or dry clean. Use only a damp cloth with mild soapy water. After cleaning, let it dry completely in the open air.
What safety precautions should I take with a stove?
Never place a stove, heater, or lamp near the walls, roof, or doors of the tent. Ensure adequate ventilation as gas appliances consume a lot of oxygen. Keep passageways clear and never let children play near lit appliances.
How many people can the Power Lizard SUL tent accommodate?
The Power Lizard SUL 1-2P model is designed for 1 to 2 people. It is an ultralight tent ideal for hikers wanting to minimize pack weight.
How to properly pack the tent?
For disassembly, push the poles out of the sleeves (do not pull). Fold the poles and store them first in the tent body before rolling everything together. Avoid forcing them into the storage bag afterwards to prevent damage.
What warranty does Vaude offer?
Vaude offers a 3-year warranty to the original user on new products, covering material and manufacturing defects. Excluded are damages due to improper use or normal wear. For claims, contact your specialized retailer.
How to orient my tent facing the wind?
Orient the tent so that the entrance is leeward to avoid drafts. Avoid setting up the tent in a depression in case of rain and choose an open location in case of storms. Regularly remove accumulated snow to not overload the fabric.

Power Lizard Ultralight Power Lizard Ultralight

Diagram illustrating three-step folding and installation steps of a tent using fabric, labeled A, B, and C.

Congratulations on choosing a VAUDE Power Lizard tent. This absolutely ultralight double wall tent was specifically designed for nature enthusiasts who place a high value on a minimal tent weight and pack size.

- and this in VAUDE's renowned premium quality.

Note: VAUDE tents are known for their extremely simple set up. If any step in the set up process seems difficult, do not use force. Instead, take the time to find out what the problem is.

Assembly Instructions

Please follow these instructions:

  1. Remove any sharp objects from the ground where the tent will be set up.
  2. Lay out the tent on the ground and connect the tent pole sections. (2 pins and one long pole)
  3. Thread one end of the pole into the metal grommet (A) on the outer tent and the other end into the opposite grommet.
  4. Clip the power frame hooks (B) onto the poles, beginning with the middle clip. Leave the clips in the open position for now.
  5. Insert the pins from the outside into the head and foot end of the tent, threading through the loop (C). Each pin is attached between its pocket and a metal grommet.
  6. Tension out the tent with three stakes at each end of the tent.
  7. Open the entrance and tension the power frame by tightening the tent tensioner (D).
  8. Stake out the middle pole (and tension out the guy lines as needed.)
  9. Secure the clips to the poles by closing the red clips.

Take down

  1. Take out the stakes and pole pins, and push the poles out of their sleeves - don't pull them out!
  2. Disconnect the poles and roll them up with the tent. (Do not stuff the poles into the packsack after you have put the tent in!)

Technical details

Fly: Both side silicone coated 20D Polyamide Ripstop fabric with a 3.000mm hydrostatic head.

Inner tent: 15D Polyester fine mesh.

Floor: Laminated Ripstop Polyamide fabric 240T with a 10.000mm hydrostatic head.

Poles: AL 7001 T6, Featherlite 7,5mm.

20D siliconised:

Siliconised fabric features tear resistance that is 6-12 times higher than conventional PU coated fabric, with 3-4 times higher UV resistance levels. Three to four-fold siliconisation on both sides of the fabric creates a very high spray value (permanent water beading ability)

40D Laminated Floor:

In order to reach a consistently high waterproof value of 10.000mm, a lamination process is used for this fabric. Lamination is more resistant against formic acid from ants than normal PU coating.

Processing and Quality

Seams: Up to date it was not possible to tape the seams of siliconized material to make them 100% waterproof. The Power Lizard Ultralight is one of the first tents worldwide made from siliconized tent material with standart taped seams. This is a VAUDE only technology and makes the seams 100% waterproof as compared to other siliconized tents.

Cords and Zippers: Lightweight polyamide webbing designed to withstand high tensile strength is used together with abrasion resistant cord. Our zippers are specifically designed to withstand horizontal tension.

Valuable hints

  • The tent should be pitched taking into account wind strength and direction, with the entrance facing the most sheltered position.
  • Pitch the tent on level ground.
  • Avoid wide open areas in the likelihood of thunderstorms
  • Avoid snow build up by regularly clearing snow off the surface of the tent.
  • Avoid putting excessive tension on the entrance zipper.
  • We recommend the use of a VAUDE groundsheet protector.

Care instructions

Dry the tent thoroughly after use to avoid mould and mildew. Stains and dirt can be removed with a damp sponge. Do not dry clean or mashine wash the tent. Dry poles with a cloth after use. Treat zips with wax to ensure smooth running.

Repair advice

the"pole doctor" repair tube. Slide shell over broken segment and affix with tape. Please contact your VAUDE relailer to arrange to replace the broken pole section as soon as possible. Fabric cuts can be mended using repair tape.

Safety instructions

For your safety and that of others always use these common sense safety tips:

  • Make sure you have sufficient ventilation when using petrol or gas powered equipment as they use up oxygen in the air.
    • Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Never pitch the tent too close to an open fire as flying sparks can cause damage.

PLEASE NOTE: VAUDE tents have a degree of fire retardence and will melt rather than flare if touched by an open flame.

- Never use cookers, heaters or lamps in the close vicinity of cars, caravans or motor homes.

- Do not allow children to play with any potentially hazardous appliance or equipment.

- Avoid camping in potentially hazardous locations.

- Please avoid noxious substances(eg exhaust fumes) in your tent- for example when using the "Drive Van".

- The tent poles are only intended for putting up the tent and no other purpose.

- Ensure tent pegs are handled carefully and are anchored securely in the ground with a hammer.

Warranty

The article is warranted against all defects in material and workmanship to the original owner for 3 years from the date of purchase. The warranty covers any faults in manufacture and materials, but excludes damages caused by improper use, and the results of reasonable wear and tear sustained over the life of the product. For warranty claims, please contact your specialised retailer. Hygiene regulations stipulate, that only cleaned items may be handled and repaired.
