SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read the Operating Instructions carefully before use!
- Save these Operating Instructions for future reference.
- The appliance is not intended for use by people (including children) with various disabilities, or by people who have no knowledge of how the appliance is used, unless they are monitored or receive instructions concerning use of the appliance by a person who is responsible for their safety.
• Children must be monitored to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. - Avoid contact with moving parts.
- Incorrect use of extension cords can impair performance and cause overheating. The extension cord must not be longer than 10 metres. The conductors' cross section must be at least 2.5mm^2 . Check that the extension cord is dimensioned for the motor's output current. Couplings and connections must be insulated and intended for outdoor use.
- Check that the mains voltage corresponds with the motor's nominal output, mains voltage and mains frequency. Use a residual current device.
- Connect the log splitter to an earthed mains supply. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators. Never open the power switch on the motor. Contact a qualified electrician should this become necessary. Ensure that your fingers do not come into contact with the plug's metal pins when you connect or disconnect the machine.
- The log splitter is intended to be used by only one person. Keep children, onlookers and other unauthorised persons at a safe distance from the work area. Never allow anyone else to help you release logs that have become caught in the machine.
- Inspect the wood and remove any nails or other foreign objects. The wood must be sawn straight across and branches must be sawn off along the trunk.
- Do not overreach, and make sure that the surface is not slippery. Maintain a proper balance at all times.
- Never stand on the machine. If the machine tips over or if you come into contact with the moving parts, this can lead to serious injuries. Do not store items above or near the machine where someone might need to stand on the machine to reach them.
- Avoid injuries caused by unexpected incidents. Always pay attention to the machine's movements. Do not add or remove logs until the machine has come to a complete standstill. Keep your hands away from all moving parts.
- Protect your hands. Keep your hands away from the splits and cracks that open up in the wood. These can suddenly close, crushing or amputating your hands. Do not use your hands to remove logs that have become caught.

The logs' diameter range presented in the table is indicative. A narrow log may be difficult to split due to knots or a particularly hard type of wood. On the other hand, wood with regular fibres may be split even if the diameter exceeds that specified in the table.

OPERATION
Before using the machine, open the bleed screw a few turns to allow air to flow freely into and out of the oil tank. It must be possible to observe the air flow through the bleed screw when the machine is in use.
ENGLISH
The log splitter has a safety operation feature that requires the use of both hands to operate the machine. The left hand regulates the hydraulic lever, while the right hand operates the press-switch. The machine stops if either hand is not in place. When both hands have released the hydraulic lever and the switch respectively, the log feeder returns to the starting position.
In order to avoid accidental activation of the hydraulic lever, the lever is fitted with a latch that has to be pulled back with the index finger before the lever can be moved forwards.

natural_image
Technical line drawing of a mechanical device with rollers and a base, showing directional arrows (no text or symbols)NOTE!
Do not keep the machine activated for more than five seconds when splitting logs of very hard wood. After five seconds, the oil overheats and the machine can be damaged. Rotate such logs 90^st to try to find an easier splitting angle. If the log cannot be split, this means that the hardness of the wood exceeds the machine's capacity. Put such logs aside in order not to damage the machine.
Ensure that the log is flat and stable on the worktable. Ensure that it cannot turn, slide or move in any other way during splitting. Do not overload the splitting wedge by trying to split the log against the upper section of the wedge. This could break off the wedge or damage the machine in other ways.
Split the log in the direction of the fibres. Do not lay the log crossways to try to cut it. This is dangerous and can seriously damage the machine. Neither should you attempt to split two logs simultaneously. They can be thrown out and injure you.

Replacing hydraulic oil
Replace the hydraulic oil after every 150 hours of operation according to the following instructions:
- Switch off the machine and disconnect it from the power outlet. Make sure all moving parts have stopped.
- Unscrew the oil drainage plug.
- Lift up the motor end of the machine (see figure) and empty the hydraulic oil into a 4 litre container.
- Lift up the machine's stand end (see figure).
- Fill with the volume of hydraulic oil specified for the machine model under "Technical data".
- Clean the dipstick and insert it into the oil tank while the machine is being held vertically.
- Check that the oil level is between the two lines on the dipstick.
- Clean the oil plug and the dipstick again before screwing the plug into place. Tighten the plug properly to avoid leaks when the machine is once again placed horizontally.

The following hydraulic oils or equivalent are recommended for the log splitter's hydraulic system:
SHELL Tellus 22
MOBIL DTE 11
ARAL Vitam GF 22
BP Energol HLP-HM 22

TROUBLESHOOTING
| Problem | Possible cause | Action |
| The log cannot be split. | The log is incorrectly positioned. | See the section "Operation" for correct placement of logs. |
| The size or hardness of the logs exceeds the machine's capacity. | Do not exceed the machine's splitting capacity. | |
| The edge of the splitting wedge is blunt. | See the section "Sharpening the splitting wedge" in order to sharpen the edge of the wedge. | |
| Oil is leaking. | Locate the leak(s) and contact the dealer. | |
| The adjustment screw for the machine's maximum pressure has been changed. The maximum pressure has been reduced. | Contact the dealer. | |
| The wood feeder moves jerkily, is making a noise and vibrating abnormally. | Too little oil and too much air in the hydraulic system. | Check the oil level and top up if necessary. Contact the dealer. |
| Oil is leaking from the cylinder or other parts. | Air has become trapped in the hydraulic system. | Undo the bleed screw 3-4 turns before using the machine. |
| The bleed screw was not tightened before the machine was moved. | Tighten the screw before moving the machine. | |
| The oil drainage plug is not tight. Tighten the oil drainage plug. | ||
| The hydraulic system's control valves and/or seals are worn. | Contact the dealer. | |
