Frequently Asked Questions - ST10W Eldom

What should I do if there is a smell when using the waffle maker for the first time?
A light odor is normal due to production residues. Ensure good ventilation (open a window) and the smell will disappear after a short time.
How long does it take to bake waffles?
Baking time is typically 2 to 6 minutes, depending on the batter, desired browning level, and the number of waffles. Check the waffles after 2 minutes.
How do I clean the waffle maker?
Unplug and let it cool completely. Wipe the baking surfaces with a dry paper towel to absorb grease, then clean all surfaces with a lightly damp cloth. Do not submerge in water or use harsh detergents.
Can I use metal utensils to remove waffles?
No, use only wooden or heat-resistant plastic implements to avoid damaging the non-stick coating.
Why does the green lamp go out during baking?
This is normal. The lamp indicates the temperature has dropped and the appliance is automatically reheating to maintain the set temperature.
Can children use this waffle maker?
Children aged 8 and older may use it under supervision. Children without supervision should not perform cleaning or maintenance.
What type of batter should I use?
The manual includes a basic recipe with flour, milk, eggs, baking powder, oil, sugar, and salt. You can also find waffle recipes online. For softer, darker waffles, use milk instead of water.
How can I keep waffles crispy?
Do not stack freshly baked waffles. Place them side by side on a kitchen grill to allow air circulation.
Is the waffle maker suitable for commercial use?
No, it is designed for domestic use only. Commercial or improper use voids the warranty.
What should I do if the power cord is damaged?
Do not use the appliance. Contact an authorized service centre (list available at www.eldom.eu or in the manual appendix). Do not attempt to repair yourself.

OPERATING

Before taking the appliance into use check to ensure that the appliance, the power plug and the power cable are all in a serviceable condition and that all packaging materials have been removed.

Note:

On first use the development of a light odour may occur, caused by production residues. This is normal and stops after a short time. Provide for sufficient ventilation. Open a window, for example.

OPERATION

  • wipe the heating plates with a damp cloth
  • position the device on a level, stable and high-temperature resistant surface
  • oil the plates slightly with butter, margarine or oil to make them ready for making waffles
  • close the lid (3) and secure the handle with interlock (4)
  • plug in the appliance- operation of the appliance is signalled by the light (A)
  • control light (B) signals when the waffle-maker is heated and ready for operation
  • open the lid (3) and pour the batter so that it does not pour out of the heating plate
  • close the lid gently and secure the handle with interlock (4)- bake waffles for 2-6 minutes

The baking time is dependant on:

  • the type of cake
  • expected baking level of waffles and the number of waffles in the waffle iron

Important!

It can happen that, during the baking process, the green operating lamp goes out briefly and then lights up again. This indicates that the adjusted temperature had fallen, causing the appliance to automatically heat itself back up to the programmed temperature.

- Open the waffle iron to check if the waffles are sufficiently baked resp. brown. If the waffles are not yet ready, re-close the waffle iron and let them bake for a little longer.

After baking the last waffle, remove the plug from the mains power socket and allow the appliance to cool down, with the lid up.

Note:

When removing the waffles, be sure not to accidentally damage the coating of the baking surfaces. To avoid this, use only wooden or heat-resistant plastic implements.

USEFUL TIPS

  • Mix all ingredients together uniformly, this will ensure a constant level of browning.
  • If you use milk instead of water, the waffles will be softer and darker.
  • Never lay crisply baked waffles on top of each other. This causes them to become soft quickly.
To keep them crispy, lay them next to each other on a kitchen grill.

RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • 2 glasses of flour
  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 50 ml oil
  • a pinch of salt
  • approx 1 / 2 glass of sugar

Mix eggs with sugar, and then pour flour, which has been previously mixed with baking powder. Add milk and oil and mix until the cake is homogeneous. Add salt to taste.

Waffle recipes are also available on various Internet sites.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Before commencing with the cleaning of the appliance, remove the plug from the mains power socket and allow the appliance to cool down.
  • Never submerse any ports of the appliance in water or other liquids. This would bring about the risk of a potentially fatal electric shock.
  • First of all, clean the baking surfaces with a dry paper towel to soak up any grease residue.
  • Then clean all surfaces and the power cable with a lightly moistened dish cloth. Always dry the appliance well before using it again.
  • Do not use detergents or solvents. These could not only cause damage to the appliance, they can also leave traces that could be baked into the next waffles.
  • In the case of stubborn residues never make use of hard objects. These could damage the coatings of the baking surfaces. It is better to lay a wet wash cloth on the encrusted residues in order to soften them.
