How do I set up the Bearware 304304 weather station?

Place the outdoor sensor within 100m of the base station. Insert batteries (2 x AAA for base, 2 x AA for sensor). The units will synchronize automatically. Set time and date via the settings button.

What is the maximum wireless range?

The wireless range is up to 100 meters in open space. Walls and obstructions may reduce this.

Why is the outdoor sensor not connecting?

Ensure both units have fresh batteries. Keep them within range and press the reset button on the sensor. Wait up to 5 minutes for synchronization.

Can I add additional outdoor sensors?

This model supports only one outdoor sensor. For multi-sensor setups, consider other Bearware models.

How to change batteries?

Open the battery compartment on the back of each unit. Replace with new alkaline batteries of the correct type (AAA for base, AA for sensor). Do not mix old and new batteries.

What does the weather forecast icon mean?

Icons indicate sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, or stormy. The forecast is based on barometric pressure trends and is for the next 12-24 hours.

How to set the alarm?

Press the ALARM button to enter alarm mode. Use UP/DOWN to set hours and minutes. Press ALARM again to confirm. The alarm icon will appear when active.

Is the display backlit?

Yes, the LCD display has a backlight. Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button to activate it for a few seconds.

What temperature range does the outdoor sensor support?

The outdoor sensor measures from -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F).
It is water-resistant but not submersible.

How to reset the weather station?

Remove batteries from both units for 30 seconds, then reinsert. Press the reset button on the base station with a paperclip. This restores factory defaults.

3. Additional information about this device

Do not use this device if it is damaged. Do not expose the main unit to moisture or to direct sunlight. The outdoor sensor is splash-waterproof and should not be exposed to continuous and direct rain. An ideal location would be a covered place in the shade.

Before using the product, please ensure that the available supply voltage corresponds to the operating voltage indicated on the specification plate.

Before using it, make sure that the cables are not damaged.

The device has to be connected to an easily accessible socket so that it can be disconnected in case of an emergency.

This product is suitable for use only with a 5V DC mains adapter. Please refer to the technical data under point 2 "Technical data" for the polarity and connector size.

This device is intended only for private use and not for medical purposes or for public information.

Caution!

Keep the batteries and the device out of the reach of children. Batteries contain harmful acids. Weak batteries should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent leakage! Never use new and old batteries or batteries of different types together. Never throw batteries into the fire and do not short-circuit them. Do not recharge the batteries and do not take them apart. 5. Initial use

1. Take the product out of the package and remove all the packaging material. Open the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor and insert two 1.5V AA batteries. Pay attention to the correct polarity of the contacts.
2. Determine the channel number of the outdoor sensor.
3. Then press the "RCC" button in the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor to receive the radio-controlled time signal (DCF). Then close the battery compartment.
4. Now open the battery compartment of the backup battery at the bottom of the weather station and insert a CR2032 battery. Pay attention to the correct polarity of the contacts.
5. Then, connect the provided 5V DC coaxial power adapter to the weather station.
6. For this purpose, connect the power adapter to a properly installed socket.

Note: The CR2032 battery is used only as a backup battery and supplies power to the internal memory so that all settings are saved.

This wireless sensor can receive the radio-controlled clock signal for automatic time synchronization of the main unit.

To use this function, the sensor must be connected only to the main unit. Once the channel is assigned to a wireless thermal hygroscope sensor, you can change this only by removing the batteries or by resetting the device.

Do not place the sensor in direct sunlight, rain or snow.

To prevent the connection between the wireless sensor and the main unit from disconnecting, first switch on the sensors, and then press the RESET button in the main unit after setting up the sensors.

You may not receive the signal immediately. The best reception is often during the night due to atmospheric disturbances.

5.1 Connecting the outdoor sensor

1. in the normal mode, press the "CH/+" button on the back of the weather station to connect the sensor to the desired channel.
2. Press the "CH/+" - button repeatedly until the desired channel appears in the display.
   If, e.g., CH 1 is displayed, press the SENSOR button to connect the sensor to channel 1.
3. The signal symbol begins to flash until reception is successful. The symbol disappears if a signal is not received within 5 minutes.
4. When the signal for CH 1-8 is interrupted and cannot re-establish the connection within 1 hour, the signal symbol then disappears. The temperature and humidity values are now shown as error ("ER") for the corresponding channel.
5. If the signal is not re-established within 48 hours, the "ER" display becomes permanent, and you have to reset the corresponding sensor and then press the "SENSOR" button to connect the sensor again.

Note: After replacing the batteries of the wireless sensor or if the main unit cannot receive a signal, you can manually search for the signal by pressing the "CH/+" button, selecting the appropriate channel, and then pressing the "SENSOR" button.

5.2 Displaying the indoor temperature and outdoor sensor values consecutively

1. Connect the required outdoor sensors as described in section 5.1.
2. In the normal mode, press and hold the "CH" button for 2 seconds to activate the automatic cycle mode. After you hear a "beep", the cycle symbol ( ) will be displayed. The weather station now alternately displays the indoor temperature (IN) and the connected outdoor sensor channels (CH1-8) with a duration of 4 seconds.

Press the "CH" button once again in the auto cycle mode to make it stop and to display the current channel.

6. DCF signal

You can enable (auto) or disable (off) this function as the last item in the basic settings.

The DCF signal is a time signal which is sent out by one of the most accurate clocks in the world. It is located near Frankfurt am Main. Under ideal conditions, your weather station can receive the signal from a distance of up to 1500 km.

If the weather station has detected the signal, then it displays the current Central European Time, the date, and the day of the week depending on the basic settings. The DCF symbol "I" is then shown on the display.

The weather station scans for a signal and attempts to synchronise every day at 02:00 and 17:00 hrs.

You can start the signal scan automatically by pressing the "RCC" button in the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor.

Once the attempt to receive a signal fails, the weather station stops scanning after about 5 minutes. The DCF symbol disappears from the display.

Caution! Remember that some devices may be sources of interference for receiving the signal, such as televisions, computers, etc. You may have problems in receiving the signal in closed areas such as in airports, factories, cellars, etc.

7. Basic settings

Note: When the backlight is switched off ("backlight" switch in Off position), the backlight can be turned on for approximately 5 seconds by pressing the large "SNOOZE / LIGHT" button on the top of the housing.

Press and hold the "TIME SET" button for about 5 seconds to modify the basic settings. Using the "CH/+" and "MEM/-" buttons, you can change the values accordingly.

By briefly pressing the "TIME SET" button, you can confirm the entry and proceed to the next option. In this way, you can change and customise the following settings in the sequence mentioned below:

• 12/24 hour format
• Hour
- Minute
• Year
• Month / Day format
- Month
Day

• Time zone - Note: If you set the time zone, for example, to +01 and the weather station is actuated using the DCF-signal, then the clock displays one hour later than the DCF-signal.
• Language setting - To set the day on the display. The following codes can be configured and selected using the "CH/+" and "-" buttons: EN (English), RU (Russian), NL (Dutch), IT (Italian), ES (Spanish), DE (German), FR (French)
• RC - Enable or disable the DCF signal function.
• DST - Enable or disable automatic switching to daylight saving time.
• Weather forecast - Switching the air pressure-based weather forecast on or off.

7.2 Alarm setting

Setting the alarm

Press the "TIME SET" button to view the alarm instead of the date. Press and then hold the "ALARM" button till the corresponding alarm time starts flashing.

You can make the desired settings using the "CH/+" and "-" buttons. Then press the "ALARM" button again to save the alarm setting. The alarm is activated automatically after setting the alarm time.

Turning the alarm on / off

Press the "ALARM" button in time mode. An alarm symbol appears next to the time. This means that the alarm is turned on. Press the "ALARM" button again to turn on alarm 2. Press the button a third time to turn on both the alarms. Press the button a fourth time to turn off the alarm. The active alarms are displayed next to the time. If an alarm symbol is not shown on the display, then the alarm is turned off.

Switching off the alarm

When the alarm is activated at the configured time, the backlight also turns on automatically. The alarm is active for 2 minutes before it turns off automatically.

Press the "SNOOZE/Alarm" button at the top of the device to switch the alarm off. If a snooze symbol is shown on the display, this means that the snooze function is activated and the alarm will go off again in 5 minutes.

Press and hold the "SNOOZE/Alarm" button or press the "Alarm" button to turn off the alarm. The alarm will go off again at the same time on the next day.

7.3 Temperature and humidity trends

The temperature and humidity displays have a trend display. The meaning of the trend display arrows are given in the table below:

7.4 Mould symbol

The mould symbol ( ) is a visual indication based on the temperature and humidity of the indoor and outdoor air, and tries to determine the risk of mould formation. This allows you to monitor some of the key factors at home that can lead to mould formation, dust mites and bacteria.

Note: The mould display is only an indication for you to check your home environment and to remind you of the risk of mould formation.

7.5 Frost symbol

When the temperature of the current channel is 3\ °C or less, the ice symbol starts flashing (in the temperature range.

7.6 Heat symbol

In the normal mode, press the "INDEX" button at the back of the weather station to display the heat index value.

Note: The heat index is calculated only when the room temperature is between 26 and 50 °C, and is based solely on the temperature and humidity measured by the wireless indoor or outdoor sensors.

7.7 Weather forecast

The weather station calculates a

weather forecast for about 12 hours, which is based on the air pressure trend. As expected, this forecast can not be compared with satellites or high-performance computers. The forecast only shows an approximation of the current trend.

7.8 Barometric/atmospheric pressure

When the alarm time or date is displayed, press the "BARO" button on the back of the weather station to display the barometric air pressure value.

Press the "BARO" button again to change the unit between inHg/mmHg/hPa.

If the air pressure value is displayed, press and hold the "BARO" button for about 2 seconds to change between the units. The unit flashes in the display above the air pressure value:

(ABS) Absolute: the absolute atmospheric pressure at your location (REL) Relative: the relative atmospheric pressure based on sea level

Adjusting the relative atmospheric pressure value

You can now set the display to the barometric air pressure of your location. Use the atmospheric pressure data of your location from the Internet or from the local weather report. Please note that the data has to be entered into the weather station.

1. Press and hold the "BARO" button for 2 seconds until the "ABS" or "REL" symbol starts to flash.
2. Press the "CH/+" or "MEM/-" button to change to relative mode (REL).
3. Press "BARO" button again until the digit for the relative air pressure begins to flash.
4. Press the "CH/+" or the "MEM/-" button to change the value.
5. Press the Baro button to save and exit the setting mode.

Note: The default value of the relative atmospheric pressure is 1013 hPa (29.92 inHg), which refers to the average atmospheric pressure. If you change the value of relative air pressure, the weather indicators also change. The relative atmospheric pressure is based on the sea level. However, it changes with the absolute atmospheric change in pressure.

7.9 Temperature/humidity history of the last 24 hours

The main unit automatically records the weather data from the past 24 hours.

1. Press the "HISTORY" button to check the historical record of the current channel for the last one hour.
2. Press the "history" button repeatedly to display the historic weather records of the past 2,3,4,5 ...24 hours. The example below shows the values of 3 hours (-03H).
   The weather station switches back to normal mode in the event of inactivity.

8. MAX/MIN data records

The base station stores the MAX/MIN weather data records since the last manual reset.

1. In normal mode, press the "MEM/-" button once to display the maximum temperature of the current channels.
2. Press the "MEM/-" button repeatedly to show the Max/Min display with time stamp in this order: Maximum temperature -> Minimum temperature -> Maximum humidity -> Minimum humidity -> Back to the normal mode.
3. When the MAX/MIN values are displayed, the display returns back to normal mode after 6 seconds.
4. To delete the MAX/MIN records of the current display channel, press and hold the MEM button for 2 seconds when the device displays the maximum recording. You will hear a "beep" when the reset has been carried out.

9 Temperature/Humidity alarm

The device can set up a HI/LO temperature and humidity alarm for indoor and up to 8 outdoor channels.

1. In normal mode, press and hold the "ALERT" button for 2 seconds to access the alarm setting mode, and the symbol for the current channel will begin to flash. Press the "CH/+" or "MEM/-" button to select IN (indoor) or CH 1-8 (channel 1-8).
2. Press the "ALARM" button to access the next setting.
3. The alarm setting sequence: Channel -> HI-temperature -> LO temperature -> HI humidity -> LO humidity -> Channel.
4. Press the "CH/+" - or "MEM/-" button to change the value by 0.1 °C / °F for the temperature and by 1% for the humidity. You can also press and hold the button to change the value quickly.
5. When setting the HI/LO temperature or humidity value, press the "ALARM" button to turn the alarm on or off for the corresponding HI/LO alarm. Once the alarm is turned on, an alarm symbol is displayed next to the "HI" or "LO".
6. Press and hold the ALARM button for 2 seconds or for 60 seconds without pressing any button, to return to normal mode.

Switching off the temperature/humidity alarm

When the alarm is activated, it can be heard audibly and the alarm symbol and the current reading flash on the display. Press the "ALARM/SNOOZE", "ALARM" or "ALERT" button to stop the alarm. If you activate the alarm and ignore this, it is cancelled after 2 minutes.

Note:

• You cannot enter conflicting HI/LO values in the setting. If the HI temperature alarm value, for example, is 40 °C, then you cannot enter more than 39.9 °C for the LO alarm, etc. When an alarm is activated, the display switches to the corresponding channel. The display returns to the auto cycle mode after the alarm stops.
• If the alarm is automatically switched off after 2 minutes, the alarm symbol continues to flash until the weather data are outside the alarm range.
• The weather alarm will sound again if the weather values fall back in the alarm range.

10. Symbol for humidity and temperature levels

The thermostat and the water drop symbol indicate the temperature and humidity on the LCD display so that you are aware of the current ambient condition.

Note: If the temperature is less than -40 °C or more than 70 °C, then "LO" or "HI" is displayed. If the humidity range is less than 1% or more than 99%, then "LO" or "HI" is displayed. The temperature/humidity level is not displayed when the measured value is outside the temperature/humidity display range.

11. Backlight

11.1 Backlight

Move the "Backlight" switch to the desired position:

• OFF = Backlight off
• LO = Backlight level 1
• HI = Backlight level 2

When the backlight is turned on, press the "Colour loop button" (19) to turn the automatic colour loop function on and off in the humidity range.

When the backlight is turned on, press the "Colour loop button" (20) to turn the automatic colour loop function on and off in the temperature range.

To select a single colour, start the colour loop of the desired section with the appropriate button, that is, temperature (20) or humidity (19). To stop the colour loop, press the button again once the desired colour appears in the display.

11.2 Backlight depending on the temperature

It is possible to change the backlight automatically depending on the temperature measured by the outside sensor.

For this purpose, please press the "Temperature-dependent colour change button (21)". The table below shows an overview of what temperature is displayed and when:

12. Battery low

If the battery low indicator "☐" appears in the outdoor temperature section, this indicates that the battery power of the transmitter is not adequate. You should replace the batteries immediately with two 1.5V AA batteries.

13. Safety instructions and disclaimer

Never try to open the device to repair or make modifications. Avoid contact with the mains voltage. Do not short-circuit the product. The device is not waterproof, hence please use it only in dry surroundings. Protect it from high humidity, water and snow. Keep the device away from high temperatures.

Do not expose the device to sudden changes in temperature or strong vibrations, as this could damage the electronic components. Check the device for any damage before using it. The device should not be used if it was subject to impact or has been damaged in some other manner. Please comply with the local regulations and restrictions. Do not use the device for purposes other than those described in the user manual. This product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children or mentally disabled persons.

Any repair or modifications to the device, which is not carried out by the original

supplier will void any warranty and guarantee claims. The device should only be used by those who have read and understood this user manual. The specifications of the device may be changed without prior notice.

14. Disposal instructions

In line with the European WEEE directive, electrical and electronic devices should not be disposed of along with domestic waste. Their components have to be separately sent for recycling or disposal, because improper disposal of toxic and dangerous components may permanently damage the environment. 15. Instructions for battery disposal

In conjunction with the sale of batteries along with the supply of devices that include batteries, the supplier is obliged to point out the following to the customer: The customer is legally obliged to return used batteries. He can return used batteries which the supplier offers or has offered as new batteries in his assortment free of charge to the supplier's dispatch warehouse (shipping address).
