Frequently Asked Questions - 303456 Bearware

How do I set up the outdoor sensor?
Open the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor and insert two 1.5V AA batteries with correct polarity. Select the desired channel using the 'Channel' button inside the compartment. Ensure the sensor is within range of the main unit (about 30-50 meters in open area). The main unit will automatically attempt to connect; if not, press and hold the 'Sensor' button on the back of the main unit for 2 seconds until the connection icon flashes.
How do I synchronize the time via DCF?
The weather station automatically attempts to synchronize with the DCF radio signal at 02:00, 08:00, 14:00, and 20:00. To manually trigger synchronization, press the 'RCC' button located in the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor. The DCF symbol will flash during the attempt and remain steady if successful.
How do I set the alarm?
Press the 'Alarm' button to display the alarm time. Then press and hold the 'Alarm' button until the alarm time flashes. Use the 'CH/+' and '-' buttons to adjust hours and minutes. Press 'Alarm' again to save. The alarm is automatically activated after setting. To toggle alarm on/off, press 'Alarm' repeatedly while in alarm mode until the alarm icon appears or disappears.
How do I change the backlight color?
First, move the 'Backlight' switch on the back to either 'LO' or 'HI' to enable the backlight. Then press the 'Rainbow' button repeatedly to cycle through colors: white, red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple. Alternatively, turn the 'Color' button clockwise or counterclockwise for individual color adjustment.
What does the temperature alarm icon mean?
The '★' icon appears in the display when the outdoor temperature drops below 3°C (approximately 37°F). This is a frost warning to alert you of potential freezing conditions.
How do I reset the min/max temperature and humidity values?
Press the 'MAX/MIN' button repeatedly to cycle through maximum and minimum readings for outdoor temperature, outdoor humidity, indoor temperature, and indoor humidity. To clear the currently displayed record, press and hold the 'MAX/MIN' button for about 3 seconds. A beep confirms the reset.
Why is the outdoor temperature not showing (--°C)?
This indicates the main unit has not received a signal from the outdoor sensor. Ensure the sensor has fresh batteries and is within range. Press and hold the 'Sensor' button on the back of the main unit for 2 seconds to restart scanning. Check for obstacles like thick walls or interference from other devices.
What batteries does the outdoor sensor use?
The outdoor sensor requires two 1.5V AA batteries. Alkaline batteries are recommended for best performance in cold temperatures. Always insert batteries with correct polarity.
How do I switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit?
Locate the '°C/°F' slide switch on the back of the main unit. Slide it to the desired position. The change applies to both indoor and outdoor temperature displays.
What does the DCF symbol (i) mean?
The DCF symbol 'i' indicates the weather station has successfully received and synchronized with the DCF radio time signal. If the symbol is flashing, the unit is attempting to receive the signal. If the symbol disappears, synchronization failed.

Bearware 303456 - Commissioning - 1

Note: The CR2032 battery is used only as a backup battery and supplies power to the internal memory so that all settings are saved.

5.1 Connection with the outdoor sensor

  1. Select the desired channel using the "Channel" button in the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor.

  2. After start-up, the weather station attempts to connect with the outdoor sensor. Make sure that both the devices are with each other's range. The connection icon "Y" starts flashing in the "Outdoor temperature and humidity" display of the main unit. Press the "Sensor" button to start searching automatically.

If the main unit cannot establish a connection with the outdoor sensor within 2 minutes, then it stops searching. The connection icon stops flashing and the temperature display shows "--%" and "--°C" on the display.

If a connection cannot be established, then this could be, for example, due to thick walls, or to a long distance of the sensor from the main unit. In this case, position the sensor and the main unit closer to each other. To restart scanning, press and hold the "Sensor" button on the back of the main unit for 2 seconds until the connection symbol in the display starts flashing.

6. DCF signal

You can enable (auto) or disable (off) this function as the last item in the basic settings.

The DCF signal is a time signal which is sent out by one of the most accurate clocks in the world. It is located near Frankfurt am Main. Under ideal conditions, your weather station can receive the signal from a distance of up to 1500 km.

If the weather station has detected the signal, then it displays the current Central European Time, the date, and the day of the week depending on the basic settings. The DCF symbol "i" is then shown on the display.

The weather station scans for a signal and attempts to synchronise every day at 02:00, 08:00, 14:00 and 20:00 hrs.

You can start the signal scan automatically by pressing the "RCC" button in the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor.

Once the attempt to receive a signal fails, the weather station stops scanning after about 5 minutes. The DCF symbol disappears from the display.

Caution! Remember that some devices may be sources of interference for receiving the signal, such as televisions, computers, etc. You may have problems in receiving the signal in closed areas such as an airport, factories, cellars etc.
