Frequently Asked Questions - Blade Apex 2 ZTE

How to insert the micro-SIM card and microSD card?

Remove the back cover by gently lifting the notch located at the bottom left. Insert the micro-SIM card, bevel oriented as indicated, until it clicks. Insert the microSDHC card, metal contacts facing down. Replace the cover.

How to charge the battery for the first time?

Use only the charger and cable provided by ZTE. Connect the adapter to the phone, then plug the charger into a wall outlet. The battery will fully charge within a few hours.

How to turn the phone on and off?

To turn on, press and hold the Power key. To turn off, press and hold the Power key, then tap Power off and confirm with OK.

What to do if the phone freezes or becomes unresponsive?

Press and hold the Power key for about 10 seconds to force a restart. The phone will restart automatically.

How to unlock the screen?

Press the Power key to wake the screen. Then, long press on an empty space or swipe the lock if configured. If a pattern or PIN is set, you must enter it.

How to use the touch screen?

Simply tap the icons or keys. To scroll, slide your finger vertically or horizontally. To zoom, pinch with two fingers (spread to enlarge, pinch to reduce).

How to take a screenshot?

Simultaneously press and hold the Power and Volume Down keys for about 2 seconds. A notification confirms the capture.

What are the important safety instructions?

Do not use the phone while driving, turn it off on airplanes and in hospitals. Do not dispose of it in fire. Avoid extreme temperatures and liquids. Maintain a distance of 15 mm when used near the body.

Can I replace the battery myself?

No, the battery is built-in. It must only be replaced by ZTE or an authorized center. Do not attempt to disassemble the phone.

Getting to Know Your Phone

Power Key

• Press and hold to turn on or off aeroplane mode, enable silent mode, vibration mode or sound, restart, or to power off.
• Press to turn off or on the screen display.

Volume Key

Press or hold either end to turn the volume up or down.

On-screen keys (at the bottom of the touch screen)

• Home ( ) : Touch to return to the home screen from any application or screen. Touch and slide upwards to use Google search.
• Back ( ← ): Touch to go to the previous screen.
• Recent ( ): Touch to see recently used apps.

Before Getting Started

1. Insert your fingernail into the slot at the bottom left of the back cover and lift it up gently.

1. Hold the micro-SIM card with the cut corner oriented as shown and slip it into the card holder until you hear a click.

1. Hold your microSDHC™ card with the metal contacts facing down and slide it in.

1. Put the back cover back into place.

Charging the Battery

When you first get your new phone you'll need to charge the battery.

WARNING! Use only ZTE-approved chargers and cables. The use of unapproved accessories could damage your phone or cause the battery to explode.

CAUTION: Do not change the built-in rechargeable battery in your phone by yourself. The battery can only be changed by ZTE or ZTE authorised service provider.

1. Connect the adapter to the charger jack.

1. Connect the charger to a standard AC power outlet.

2. Disconnect the charger when the battery is fully charged.

Powering On/Off

Make sure the micro-SIM card is in your phone and the battery is charged.

- Press and hold the Power Key to turn on your phone.

• To turn it off, press and hold the Power Key to open the options menu. Touch Power off and then touch OK.

CAUTION: Do not touch the Volume Key when powering on the phone.

Restarting the Phone

If the phone freezes or takes too long to respond, try pressing and holding the Power Key for about 10 seconds to restart the phone.

Waking Up Your Phone

Your phone automatically goes into sleep mode when it is not in use for some time. The display is turned off to save power and the keys are locked to prevent accidental operations.

You can wake up phone by turning on the display and unlocking the keys.

1. Press the Power Key to turn the screen on.
2. Touch and hold any blank area of the screen.

NOTE: If you have set an unlock pattern, a PIN or a password for your phone, you'll need to draw the pattern or enter the PIN/password to unlock.

Using the Touch Screen

Your phone's touch screen lets you control actions through a variety of touch gestures.

- Touch

When you want to type using the onscreen keyboard, select items onscreen such as application and settings icons, or press onscreen buttons, simply touch them with your finger.

• Touch and Hold
  To open the available options for an item (for example, a message or link in a Web page), touch and hold the item.
• Swipe or Slide
  To swipe or slide means to quickly drag your finger vertically or horizontally across the screen.
• Drag
  To drag, press and hold your finger with some pressure before you start to move your finger. While dragging, do not release your finger until you have reached the target position.
• Pinch
  In some apps (such as Maps, Browser, and Gallery), you can zoom in and out by placing two fingers on the screen at once and pinching them together (to zoom out) or spreading them apart (to zoom in).
• Rotate the screen
  For most screens, you can automatically change the screen orientation from portrait to landscape by turning the phone sideways.
