Frequently Asked Questions - SWV 733 A1 SILVERCREST

How to configure the SilverCrest SWV 733 A1 repeater?
Two methods: either via the WPS button (press the WPS button on the repeater for 5 seconds then press the WPS button on the router within 2 minutes), or manually via a browser at http://repeater.setup (default credentials: admin/admin). For manual configuration, connect to the network SSWV 733 A1 2.4G or 5G, or use a network cable.
What operating modes are available?
The repeater offers three modes: Repeater (extends WLAN range), Client (connects a wired device to a WLAN network), and Access Point (converts a wired router into a WLAN router). Select the mode using the physical selector on the device.
What does each LED on the device mean?
The Power/WPS LED flashes quickly during WPS configuration and stays on in normal operation. WAN/LAN and LAN light up when a connection is established. The signal strength indicator (4 bars) indicates the strength of the signal received from the router.
How to reset the repeater to factory settings?
Press the Reset button (5) for about 3 seconds using a pointed object. The LEDs briefly turn off, then the device restarts. Wait 30 seconds before using it. This erases all settings.
Can I use the repeater with a router that does not support WPS?
Yes, you must then perform a manual configuration. Connect to the repeater's temporary network (SSID: SWV 733 A1 2.4G or 5G) or connect a network cable between your computer and the repeater, then open http://repeater.setup in a browser.
How to connect a non-Wi-Fi device to the network via this repeater?
Use Client mode. Set the selector to Client, configure the repeater to connect to your WLAN router, then connect your device (e.g., TV) to one of the repeater's LAN ports using a network cable.
What is the maximum data rate of the repeater?
The data rate can reach 300 Mbit/s on the 2.4 GHz band (standard n) and 433 Mbit/s on the 5 GHz band (standard ac). Actual performance depends on your network and environment.
How to secure my Wi-Fi network with this repeater?
In the configuration menu, go to WiFi > Basic settings. Choose an encryption type (recommended: WPA/WPA2) and set a network key of at least 8 alphanumeric and special characters.
What to do if the WPS connection fails?
Make sure the router supports WPS and that you press the button within 2 minutes. If failure persists, reset the repeater (Reset button 3 seconds) and try again. Eliminate interference sources or move devices closer.
How to update the repeater's firmware?
From the configuration menu (Management > Update firmware), click Browse to select the update file, then click Upload. Note: The update resets all settings to factory defaults.

AC/5G SSID: TC Fritzbox 2.4GHz(AC)

After the reboot has been completed, the dual-band wifi range extender is accessible under the SSID and the network key of your wireless router.

If you would like to return to the configuration menu, you can enter repeater.setup in the address line of the Internet browser. Note that a connection must be established with the dual-band wifi range extender for this purpose. To do so, connect the dual-band wifi range extender if necessary to your computer via a network cable.

Once the connection has been successfully established, the field strength indicator (1) displays the signal strength. The dual-band wifi range extender can then be used. The dual-band wifi range extender can now be accessed via the previously specified SSID (wireless name) and the network key of your wireless router.

You can then use the dual-band wifi range extender where the wireless signal is to be extended. The optimal location for the dual-band wifi range extender is exactly in the middle between your wireless router and the wireless devices which are to be connected to the network using the dual-band wifi range extender. Test other locations if the dual-band wifi range extender does not work there. Insert the dual-band wifi range extender only into a socket that is always easily accessible.

If you would like to open the configuration menu, you must ensure that there is a valid connection to the dual-band wifi range extender. To do so, connect the dual-band wifi range extender if necessary to your computer via a network cable.

Client mode

Client mode enables end devices with a LAN interface (for example, computer, notebook or TV set), which have no own wireless network, to connect wirelessly to an existing wireless router.

Example of use:
