How to clean the appliance?

Unplug the appliance and let it cool down. Clean the plates with a damp cloth and a little dishwashing liquid, then rinse with clear water and wipe dry. Never immerse the appliance in water and do not put it in the dishwasher.

Can I use metal utensils?

No, use only wooden or heat-resistant plastic utensils to avoid damaging the non-stick coating.

How long does it take to toast a sandwich?

Cooking time is 4 to 8 minutes depending on thickness and desired browning. Monitor the cooking.

What to do if the appliance does not heat up?

Check that the plug is properly connected to a functioning mains socket and that the red indicator light is on. If the problem persists, contact customer service.

Are the plates removable?

No, the plates are not removable. The appliance cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher.

Can I prepare something other than sandwiches?

The appliance is designed only for preparing sandwiches. Do not put other foods in it.

How to store the cable?

Wind the cable around the compartment provided under the appliance following the direction arrow, then secure the end in the cable clip.

What is the power of the appliance?

Does the appliance turn off automatically?

No, the appliance does not have automatic shut-off. You must unplug it after use to switch it off.

What to do if the sandwiches burn?

Shorten the cooking time. Make sure the green light comes on before inserting the sandwiches.

The Sandwich maker is suitable for preparing sandwiches.

The device is designed for private, domestic use. The device must only be used indoors. This device must not be used for commercial purposes.

Hard or sharp objects (e.g. metal spoons) can damage the non-stick coating. Only use kitchen utensils made of wood or heat-resistant plastic to remove the finished sandwiches.

Instructions for safe operation

- This device can be used by children from the age of 8 and people with restricted physical, sensory or intellectual abilities or people without adequate experience and/or understanding, if they are supervised or instructed on how to use this device safely and if they are

aware of the resulting danger. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by unsupervised children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised.

- Children under the age of 8 must be kept away from the device and the power cable.

- The outer surfaces of the device become very hot during operation. Only touch the control elements of the device during operation.

- Clean all parts and surfaces that will come into contact with food before using the device for the first time (see "Cleaning and storing" on page 7).

- If the mains power cable of this device should become damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's customer service department or a similarly qualified specialist, in order to avoid any hazards.

- Do not use any abrasive or corrosive cleaning agents. Doing this could damage the device, as well as the non-stick coating.

- This device is not intended to be operated using an external timer clock or a separate remote control system.

DANGER for children

- Packing materials are not children's toys. Children should not be allowed to play with the plastic bags: there is a risk of suffocation!

- Keep the device out of the reach of children.

DANGER to and from pets and livestock

Electrical devices can represent a hazard to pets and livestock. In addition, animals can also cause damage to the device. For this reason you should keep animals away from electrical devices at all times.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock due to moisture

The housing, the power cable and the mains plug must not be immersed in water or any other liquids.

- Protect the device from moisture, water drops and water spray. Failure to observe this instruction may result in an electrical shock hazard.

- If liquid gets into the device, remove the mains plug immediately. Have the device checked before reusing.

- Never touch the device with wet hands.

- Make sure that the surface under the device is dry.

- If the device has fallen into water, pull out the mains plug immediately, and only then remove the device from the water. Do not use the device again, and have it checked by a specialist.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock

- Never put the device into operation if there are visible damages to the device or the power cable or if the device has been dropped before.

- Only connect the mains plug to a properly installed and easily accessible wall socket whose voltage corresponds to the specifications on the rating plate. The wall socket must continue to be easily accessible after the device is plugged in.

- Ensure that the power cable cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot surfaces.

- When using the device, ensure that the power cable cannot be trapped or crushed.

The device is not fully disconnected from the power supply, even after it is switched off. In order to fully disconnect it, pull out the mains plug.

- When removing the mains plug from the wall socket, always pull the plug and never the cable.

- Disconnect the mains plug from the wall socket, ... ... if there is a fault, ... when you are not using the device, ... before you clean the device and ... during thunderstorms.

- To avoid any risk, do not make modifications to the product.

FIRE HAZARD

Before turning the device on, place it on a level, stable, dry, heat-resistant surface.

DANGER! Risk of injury through burning

The outer surfaces of the device become very hot during operation. Only touch the control elements of the device during operation.

- Please note that hot steam may escape from the sides of the appliance while the sandwiches are toasting.

- Take care when removing the toasted sandwiches – they are also very hot.

- Only transport the device when it has cooled down.

- Wait for the device to cool down before cleaning.

WARNING! Risk of material damage

- Hard or sharp objects (e.g. metal spoons) can damage the non-stick coating. Only use kitchen utensils made of wood or heat-resistant plastic to remove the finished sandwiches.

- Never place the device on hot surfaces (e.g. hob plates) or near heat sources or open fire.

-Only use the original accessories.

The device is fitted with non-slip silicon feet. Because furniture can be coated with a wide variety of varnishes and plastics, and treated with various care products, the possibility cannot be excluded that some of these substances have ingredients that may attack and soften the silicon feet. If necessary, place a non-slip mat under the device.

- Do not use any astringent or abrasive cleaning agents.

- The device and its accessories are not suitable for dishwashers.

DANGER for birds

Birds breathe faster, distribute the air differently in their bodies and are significantly smaller than humans. For this reason, it may be dangerous for birds to inhale even the smallest smoke quantities, which develop while this device is running. When using this device, birds should be relocated into a different room.

Unpacking

1. Remove all parts from the packaging.
2. Check that all parts are present and intact.

5. Before using for the first time

During manufacture, many parts are given a thin film of protective oil. Before using the appliance for the first time, heat it up without sandwiches so that any residues can evaporate.

NOTE: When heating up for the first few time a slight smell may be produced. Make sure the room is adequately ventilated.

1. Clean the appliance before using it for the first time (see "Cleaning and storing" on page 7).
2. Select a location that is firm, level and not flammable. Maintain a distance of approx. 50 cm from other objects.
3. Unwind the mains cable completely.
4. Insert the plug into a suitable mains socket. The red indicator light 1 now lights up and the appliance heats up. As soon as the operating temperature has been reached, the green indicator light 2 lights up.
5. Leave the appliance switched on for around 10 - 15 minutes.
6. Open lock 4.
7. Lift open lid 5, taking hold of the appliance by lid handle 3.
8. Unplug the mains plug and allow the appliance to cool down.
9. Clean the appliance again (see "Cleaning and storing" on page 7).

NOTE: For reasons of taste you should not eat the first toasted bread slices but should throw them away.

6. Preparing sandwiches

NOTES:

• We recommend a toasting loaf for making sandwiches.
• Prepare the sandwiches before switching on the appliance.
- As far as possible, spread the filling so that the sandwiches are of an even thickness.

1. Select a location for the appliance which is firm, level and non-flammable. Maintain a distance of approx. 50 cm from other objects.

2. Unwind the mains cable completely.

3. Open lock 4.
4. Lift open lid 5, taking hold of the appliance by lid handle 3.
5. Wipe off any dust with a dry cloth.
6. Close lid 5.
7. Close lock 4.
8. Insert the power supply plug into a suitable mains socket. Red indicator light 1 now comes on and the appliance heats up.

As soon as operating temperature has been reached, green indicator light 2 comes on. The appliance is now ready to use.

1. Open lock 4.

2. Lift open lid 5, taking hold of the appliance by lid handle 3.

3. Place the prepared sandwiches in the moulds 6.
4. Close lid 5.
5. Close lock 4.

NOTES:

• Depending on the thickness of the sandwich and the desired degree of browning, the toasting process takes a number of minutes (approx. 4 - 8 minutes).
• During toasting, green indicator light 2 will go off and come back on. This controls the required operating temperature.

DANGER! Risk of injury through burning!

- When you open lid 6, hot steam may rise towards you. You should therefore protect your hands with a tea towel or oven gloves.

1. Proceed as described below to check whether the sandwiches are ready.
2. Open lock 4.

3. Lift open lid 5, taking hold of the appliance by lid handle 3.

4. Proceed as described below if the sandwiches are not ready: ... Close lid 5. ... Close lock 4.

5. As soon as the sandwiches have been toasted to your taste, remove them from the appliance.

WARNING! Risk of material damage!

Only use implements made of wood or heat-resistant plastic. Metal implements might damage the coated surfaces.

1. Remove the power supply plug from the mains socket after use. This is the only way to ensure that the appliance is completely de-energized.

7. Cleaning and storing

DANGER! Risk of electric shock!

• Always remove the plug from the mains socket before starting to clean the appliance.
• Never immerse the appliance in water, and protect it from splashes and water droplets.
• Before cleaning, allow the appliance to cool down to avoid the risk of burns.

WARNING! Risk of material damage!

- Never use abrasive, corrosive or caustic cleaning materials. These could damage the appliance as well as the non-stick coating.

NOTE:

- Do not leave it too long before cleaning the appliance, otherwise food residue may harden and be difficult to remove.

1. Remove crumbs and larger food residues.
2. Wipe the appliance inside and out with a soft, damp cloth. You may also use a little mild washing-up liquid, but must then wipe the appliance again using clean water to avoid any aftertaste affecting the flavour of the sandwiches.
3. Dry with a cloth.

4. To store the appliance, wind up the mains cable on the cable store 7 (underneath).

5. wind the mains cable around the cable store 7;

6. take note of the arrow 9, indicating the direction the cable should be wound up;
7. secure the end of the mains cable by pressing into the cable clip 8.

8. Recipes

8.1 Dutch tomato sandwich

Ingredients:

- To a s t b r e a d

- Spring onions

- Tomatoes

- Butter (or herb butter/garlic butter)

- C o o k e d h a m

- Sliced young Gouda cheese

- Salt and pepper

Preparation:

1. Wash and drain the spring onions.

2. Cut the spring onions into long, narrow strips.

3. Blanch the strips in boiling, salted water for about one minute.

4. Drain the strips into a sieve.

5. Rinse with cold water to retain the fresh colour and drain.

6. Wash, dry and thinly slice the tomatoes.

7. Butter a slice of bread.

8. Place the ham on the bread.

9. Spread the spring onions and sliced tomatoes on top.

10. Season with salt and pepper.

11. Top with a slice of Gouda.

12. Cover with a second slice of buttered bread.

13. Toast the sandwiches.

8.2 Italian sandwich

Ingredients:

- Toast bread

- Tomato purée

- Tomatoes

- Mayonnaise

- Herbs of Provence

- Sliced mozzarella cheese

- Salt and pepper

Preparation:

1. Stir together the tomato purée, mayonnaise, salt, pepper and herbs of Provence to make a paste.

2. Spread the paste onto the slices of bread.

3. Wash, dry and thinly slice the tomatoes.

4. Fill one of the ready-spread bread slices with slices of tomato and mozzarella cheese.

5. Cover with a second slice of buttered bread.

6. Toast the sandwiches.

9. Disposal

The symbol showing a wheelie bin crossed through indicates that the product requires separate refuse collection in the European Union. This applies to the product and all accessories

marked with this symbol. Products identified with this symbol may not be discarded with normal household waste, but must be taken to a collection point for recycling electric and electronic appliances. Recycling helps to reduce the consumption of raw materials and protect the environment.

10. Troubleshooting

If your device fails to function as required, please try this checklist first. Perhaps there is only a minor problem, and you can solve it yourself.

12. Warranty of the HOYER Handel GmbH

Dear Customer, your device is provided with a 3 year warranty starting with the purchase date. In the event of product defects, you are entitled to statutory rights against the vendor. These statutory rights are not restricted by our warranty presented in the following.

Warranty conditions

The warranty period starts with the purchase date. Please keep the original purchase receipt in a safe place. This document is required to verify the purchase.

If within three years from the purchase date of this product a material or factory defect occurs, the product will be repaired or replaced by us – at our discretion – free of charge to you. This warranty implies that within the period of three years the defective device and the purchase receipt are presented, including a brief written description of the defect and the time it occurred.

If the defect is covered by our warranty, the repaired or a new product will be returned to you. No new warranty period starts with a repair or replacement of the product.

Warranty period and statutory claims for defects

The warranty period is not extended when the warranty has been claimed. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damages and defects already existing at the time of purchase must be reported immediately upon unpacking. Repairs arising after the expiration of the warranty period are subject to a charge.

Warranty coverage

The device was produced carefully according to strict quality guidelines and tested diligently prior to delivery.

The warranty applies to material or factory defects. This warranty does not include product parts that are subject to standard wear and therefore can be considered wear parts; the same applies to damages at fragile parts, e.g. switches, rechargeable batteries or parts made of glass.

This warranty expires if the product is damaged, not used as intended or not serviced. For the proper operation of the product, all instructions listed in the operating instructions must be observed carefully. Any form of use and handling that is advised against in the operating instructions or warned against must always be avoided.

The product is only intended for private and not for commercial use. In the case of incorrect and improper treatment, use of force and interventions not performed by our authorised Service Centre, the warranty shall cease.
