Frequently Asked Questions - CEI-600 FAGOR

How to use the CEI-600 coffee maker?
Make sure the coffee maker is cold, unscrew the upper container, fill the water tank to the desired level (3 or 6 cups), add ground coffee to the filter, screw the top back on, place the coffee maker on the base and press the switch. Never open the lid during operation.
Why doesn't the coffee rise?
Check that the gasket (F) and filter (E) are properly in place and clean. Make sure the safety valve (H) is not blocked. Don't forget to put water in the tank. If the problem persists, descaling may be necessary.
How to clean the coffee maker?
Let it cool, remove the coffee maker from the base. Clean the inside of the tube with soapy water or under the tap. For the stainless steel exterior, use a soft cloth and avoid abrasive products. Never immerse the base or the socket.
How to descale the coffee maker?
Fill the tank with 300 ml of water and add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to the filter. Assemble the coffee maker and run it. Once done, empty and rinse with fresh water before making coffee again.
Can I use the coffee maker without water?
No, the tank must always contain water. Using it empty could damage the appliance and void the warranty.
How much ground coffee to use?
Fill the filter with ground coffee to your taste. The intensity depends on the quantity and tamping. For 3 cups, use the small filter (L) and less coffee.
Can I make something other than coffee?
No, this coffee maker is designed exclusively for coffee. Do not use cocoa powder, chamomile or other infusions, as this could clog the filter.
How to replace the gasket or filter?
Unscrew the coffee maker, remove the old gasket and filter. Insert original FAGOR spare parts. Make sure they are properly in place before reassembling.
Why doesn't the switch light up?
Check that the coffee maker is correctly placed on the base and the cord is plugged in. Make sure the lid is properly closed. If the problem persists, contact an authorized technical service.
What to do if the coffee maker leaks?
Check that the gasket (F) is in good condition and correctly positioned. Make sure the upper filter (D) is tightly screwed. Do not fill above the safety valve. If the leak persists, stop using and contact technical service.

4. OPERATION

BEFORE FIRST USE

Clean and rinse the inside of the coffee machine before using it for the first time and clean the outside with a slightly damp cloth.

Operate the coffee machine a couple of times to get rid of any possible residue. Do not drink this coffee.

USE OF THE APPLIANCE

To make coffee, proceed as follows:

  • Check that the coffee machine is cool and then unscrew the top container, holding the bottom container with one hand and turning anticlockwise.
Warning: Ensure that the gasket (F) and the top filter (E) are clean, that they are not damaged and that they are correctly placed, as shown in Figure 2.
  • Fill the bottom container (I) with enough water for the amount of coffee you wish to make. The coffee machine has a mark to indicate how full it should be (Fig. 3) depending on whether you want 3 or 6 cups of coffee.
Warning: The coffee maker has a safety valve (H) to prevent excess pressure (Fig. 4). Do not fill the coffee machine beyond the height of the valve because boiling water could come out of the coffee maker.
  • When full, place the coffee filter onto the bottom container. If you are going to prepare 3 cups, also use the 3 cup filter accessory (L). (Fig. 5)
IMPORTANT: Do not use the coffee machine without water in the container.
  • Fill the filter with ground coffee. Bear in mind that the amount of coffee and how much you press it down will directly

affect the strength of the coffee (Fig. 6).

  • Put the top part of the coffee machine in place by turning it clockwise. (Fig. 7)
  • Once assembled, place the coffee machine on the base (K) (Fig. 8).
  • To switch the coffee machine on, close the lid and press the 'on' button (J). This button will light up while the coffee machine is in operation (Fig. 9).
Warning: The lid must be closed while the coffee machine is in operation.
  • The coffee will start to rise in a couple of minutes.

USE OF THE 3 OR 6 CUP FILTERS

Depending on how many cups of coffee you wish to make, you must proceed differently.

The coffee machine has a mark to indicate how far you should fill the container, depending on how many cups of coffee you wish to make. (Fig. 3)

To prepare a full pot (6 cups) of coffee, remove the 3 cup filter from the appliance (L) and fill the container with water up to the 6 cup level. If you wish to make 3 cups, fill the pot only up to the 3 cup level. If you wish to make 3 cups, you should assemble the 3 cup accessory as well as the normal filter (Fig. 5).

5. CLEANING

  • Before cleaning the appliance, wait until it has cooled down.
  • Remove the appliance from its connection base.
  • Clean the inside of the tube periodically with soapy water or rinse it under the tap.
  • Check the funnel and gasket regularly. In the event of wear or deterioration, replace them with original spare parts.
  • Check from time to time that the filter holes are not obstructed. If necessary, clean them with a pin.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, degreasers, alcohol, etc. to clean any part of the coffee machine. Simply wipe it with a sponge, without wetting any electrical components.

- Do not wash the coffee machine in the dishwasher.

IMPORTANT: Do not rinse the coffee machine's connection base under the tap or immerse it in water or any other liquid.

DECALCIFICATION

To get rid of calcium residues which form on the internal metal parts, use 2 soup spoonfuls of lemon in the coffee filter and fill the coffee machine with 300 ml of water. Assemble all parts of the coffee machine and ensure that it is properly closed. Connect the coffee machine to its base and switch it on. Once the process has finished, remove the scale and the water solution. Repeat if necessary.

Once this process is complete, operate the coffee machine filled with pure cold water before making coffee again.
