What type of fuel should I use?
Use unleaded petrol with a minimum octane rating of 95. Petrol with up to 10% ethanol or 15% MTBE is acceptable. Do not use E85 or old/contaminated fuel.
How much oil does the engine need?
The engine requires 1.0 liter of 4-stroke engine oil. Recommended grades are 0W-30 or 5W-30 depending on temperature. Check oil level before each use and change after the first 5 hours, then every 50 hours.
Why won't the engine start?
Common causes: empty or old fuel, blocked fuel line, loose spark plug lead, defective spark plug, throttle in stop position, or ignition key not inserted correctly. Check fuel, spark plug connection, and ensure the key is fully inserted.
How do I adjust the rotor lever?
If the rotor does not disengage properly, adjust the wire: loosen the upper bracket on the wire and move it to a different hole on the arm to tighten or loosen. Refer to the manual for detailed steps. Test after adjustment.
What should I do if the rotor does not throw snow?
Check if the ejector unit is blocked, shear screws are sheared, or a foreign object is jamming the rotor. Also ensure the rotor lever wire is adjusted correctly and the drive belt is intact. Clear blockages and replace shear screws as needed.
How do I change the engine oil?

DANGER! The machine must only be used as described in these instructions. Read all warnings, safety instructions and other directives. Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions could result in the risk of serious personal injury and/or death.

Training

  • Read all the instructions, all the safety instructions and all the warning labels on the equipment prior to assembly and use. Save these instructions for future reference.
  • Familiarise yourself with the controls on the machine and how to use them. Learn how to stop the machine quickly and disengage the drive.
  • Do not allow children under 14 to use the machine. The machine may be used by children older than 14 years only if they are under adult supervision.
    • Never allow anyone who has not received appropriate instructions to use the machine.
  • Ejected objects can cause serious personal injury. Plan the work so that materials are not thrown towards roads, bystanders, etc.
  • Keep bystanders, especially children and pets, at least 20 metres from the work area. Switch off the machine if anyone enters the work area.
  • Be careful to avoid slipping or falling, especially when walking backwards.

Before use

  • Carefully inspect the area where the machine is to be used and remove any objects in the way, such as newspapers, planks, stones, cords, mats, sledges, boards, etc.
  • Wear safety glasses during use and when making adjustments and/or repairs.
  • Wear appropriate winter clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery, watches or the like, as these can get caught in moving parts. Wear non-slip shoes.
    • Machines with electric starter motors may only be connected to an earthed power outlet.
  • Adjust the height of the feed hopper so that it is free of gravel and the like.
  • Disengage and place all levers in neutral before starting the engine.
    • Do not make any adjustments with the engine running, except as stated in this manual.
    • Let the engine and machine adjust to the outdoor temperature before you start to clear the snow.

Fuel handling

Be careful when handling fuel – risk of personal injury and/or damage to property. Petrol is highly flammable and can be explosive in certain circumstances. If you get fuel on your skin or clothes, wash immediately.

  • Only use an approved fuel container.
    • Never refuel indoors.
  • Never remove the fuel cap or add fuel while the engine is running.
  • Let the engine cool for at least 2 minutes before refuelling.

- Store and handle petrol away from sparks, naked flames, heat and other ignition sources. Smoking prohibited!

  • Do not overfill the fuel tank. Do not fill more than 1 cm below the filler pipe, so that the fuel can expand.
  • Replace the filler cap and tighten properly.
  • Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately. Move the machine away from the area where you are refuelling. Wait 5 minutes before starting the engine.
  • Never store the machine or fuel container near ignition sources such as a naked flame, water heater, tumble drier and electric motors that could emit sparks, in order to avoid the risk of ignition of fuel vapours.
  • Allow the machine to cool for at least 5 minute before storing.

Use

  • Keep your hands and feet away from moving parts – risk of serious personal injury and/or death.
  • The rotor control lever is a safety device that should never be bypassed or disabled, as this can lead to a risk of serious personal injury.
  • Control levers must be possible to move in both directions and must automatically return to the neutral position when released.
  • Never use the machine if the ejector unit is missing or damaged. Safety devices must be fitted correctly and function properly.
  • Never start or run the engine indoors or in an enclosed area. Engine exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, an odourless and deadly gas.
    • Never use the machine when you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
    • The muffler and engine become hot – risk of burns. Keep children at a safe distance.
    • Always be careful when working on or crossing gravel covered entrances, roads, etc.
  • Pay attention to traffic and concealed dangers.
  • Be very careful when changing direction and on slopes.
  • Plan the work so that thrown snow does not hit windows, walls, cars, etc., to avoid the risk of damage to property and/or personal injury.
  • Never direct the ejector towards people or animals and never let anyone stand in front of the machine.
  • Do not overload the machine by trying to remove too much snow too quickly.
  • Never use the machine in poor visibility or low light. Make sure you always have a firm footing and hold the handle firmly. Never run with the machine.
    • Disengage the rotor drive during transport and when the machine is not in use.
    • Never operate the machine quickly on slippery surfaces. Be careful when reversing.
  • Move all control levers to the neutral position and turn off the engine before leaving the driving position behind the handle. Wait until the rotor has stopped completely before carrying out any inspection or adjustments on the machine or cleaning the ejector.
  • Never put your hand in the ejector or intake openings. Always use the accompanying cleaning tool to clear the ejector. Never attempt to clean the ejector when the engine is running. Turn off the engine and remain behind the handle until all moving parts have come to a complete standstill before attempting to clean.
  • Only use parts and accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer. Contact your dealer if you have any questions.

Maintenance and storage

  • Never modify the safety devices in any way. Regularly check that all safety devices are in place and are functioning properly according to these instructions.
  • Turn off the engine and disengage all the levers before servicing, performing repairs, lubrication and/or inspection. Wait until all moving parts have come to a complete standstill. Loosen the spark plug lead and earth this against the engine to prevent unintentional starting.
  • Check all bolted joints regularly, and retighten if necessary. Regularly check the machine visually for damage.
  • Do not change the speed governor setting and do not overspeed the engine. The speed governor controls maximum permitted engine speed.
  • Glide plates and runners wear and are subjected to damage. Regularly check all components and replace if necessary using original spare parts recommended by the manufacturer. The use of other spare parts can cause malfunctioning, damage to property and/or personal injury.
  • Regularly check that all the control levers can be moved correctly and automatically return to the neutral position when released. Adjust, if necessary, according to these instructions.

  • Stickers bearing safety information and instructions must always be clean and legible. Replace if necessary.

  • Observe applicable laws and regulations relating to fuel, oil, etc.
  • Before putting the machine away for storage, let it run for several minutes to clear any snow so that the rotor does not freeze solid.
  • Never store the machine or fuel container near ignition sources such as a naked flame, water heater, tumble drier and electric motors that could emit sparks, in order to avoid the risk of ignition of fuel vapours.
  • Follow the instructions for storage.

The declared vibration value, which has been measured by a standardised test method, can be used to compare different tools with each other and for a preliminary assessment of exposure.

WARNING! The actual vibration level when using power tools may differ from the specified maximum value, depending on how the tool is used. Drive lever

The drive lever is located to the right of the handle. Press in the drive lever to activate driving, release to stop.

IMPORTANT! Always release the drive lever before shifting gears.

Ignition key

The ignition key is a safety device. It must be fully inserted in order to start the engine. Remove the ignition key when the machine is not in use.

Rotor lever

The rotor lever is located to the left of the handle. Press in the rotor lever to activate the rotor, release to stop the snow blowing function. Also release the drive lever to stop the machine.

IMPORTANT! Always check the rotor function before use. Perform all the adjustments and checks described in these instructions to ensure that the machine is working safely and correctly.

Runners

The distance between the shave plate and the ground is set by moving the runners. See the section on adjusting the height of the runners.

Gear lever

The gear lever is located on the handle and has 8 positions for moving forwards and backwards at various speeds.

Forwards

The machine has 6 forward gears (F), where 1st is the slowest. Drive at the lowest speed when snow throwing.

Reverse

Headlamp

The headlamp is turned on and off with a switch to the left of the control panel.

IMPORTANT! Always release the drive lever before shifting gears.

Control handle, ejector unit

The control handle for the ejector unit is located on the left side of the machine.
Set the desired ejection direction by turning the control handle as shown below.
1. Turn clockwise to turn the ejector to the left.
2. Turn anti-clockwise to turn the ejector to the right.

Control handle, ejection deflector

The ejection deflector controls the ejection height. Raise or lower the deflector using the control handle.

Fuel recommendations

Use unleaded petrol with a rating of at least 95 octane. Petrol with at most 10% ethanol or 15% MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) can be used. Never use old, contaminated fuel or fuel mixed with oil. Avoid getting water and debris in the fuel tank. Do not use E85.

  • Only refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine switched off. Keep petrol away from sparks and naked flames, and do not smoke where petrol is stored or when filling petrol.
  • Do not overfill the tank. Replace the filler cap properly after filling.
  • Be careful not to spill fuel when filling. Spilled fuel and fuel fumes constitute a fire risk. Wipe up any spilled fuel before starting the engine.
  • Avoid repeated or prolonged skin contact with fuel and/or inhalation of fuel fumes.

  1. Clean the area around the filler cap before opening the fuel cap.
  2. The fuel tank has a level indicator. Fill up to the red plate in the screen. Do not overfill.

Oil level inspection

IMPORTANT! The engine is supplied without oil. Fill with 1,0 l oil and check the oil level prior to starting the engine. Do not run the engine with insufficient oil – risk of serious engine damage. The warranty does not cover damage resulting from the engine being run with too little oil.

NOTE! Check the engine's oil level on a flat surface with the engine turned off.

  1. Remove the oil filler cap with the dipstick and wipe the dipstick.
  2. Refit the filler cap with the dipstick without tightening.
  3. Remove the oil filler cap with the dipstick again. Top up the oil if the level is too low. The correct viscosity and oil volume are set out in the engine maintenance section.

NOTE! Do not overfill. This can cause the engine to smoke, be difficult to start or cause soot on the spark plug.

  1. Refit the filler cap with the dipstick and tighten before starting the engine.

NOTE! Fill so that the level is between the minimum and the maximum marks.

INSTALLATION

NOTE! The right and left sides of the machine are specified as viewed from the driving position behind the machine.

Unpacking

  1. Remove the plastic covering parts of the machine.
  2. Unpack all loose parts.

Loose parts

The rotor is mounted on the spiral shaft with two shear screws with nylon lock nuts. The shear screws can shear off if the rotor hits ice or a solid object. Two replacement shear screws with nylon lock nuts are supplied. Keep them in a safe place until they are needed.

  5. Lock the upper and lower handles together with the four plastic wing nuts, the cup washers and the screws.

- Insert the screw with the washer into the hole in the ejector unit and tighten clockwise.

Adjustment

WARNING! Do not make any adjustments with the engine running, except as stated in this manual.

Rotor lever

Check the function of the rotor in accordance with the instructions.

Drive lever and gear lever

Check the function of the drive lever and gear lever in accordance with the instructions below.

  1. Check the function of the drive lever and gear lever in accordance with the instructions below.
  2. Turn off the engine and move the gear lever to the position for the highest forward gear. Release the drive lever and push the machine forwards. The machine should roll forwards. Press the drive lever. The wheels should stop.

  3. Release the drive lever and push the unit forwards again.

  4. Move the gear lever to the position for the highest reverse gear and back to the position for the highest forward gear. The gear lever should move easily and the wheels should continue to rotate.

  5. If you feel resistance in the gear lever of if the wheels stop moving, loosen the lock nut on the drive lever wire and extend the wire one turn of the nut.

  6. If the wheels do not stop moving when you press the drive lever, loosen the lock nut on the drive lever wire and shorten the wire one turn of the nut.

  7. Repeat the check and adjust again, if necessary. Tighten the lock nut when you have finished adjusting.

Runners

The distance between the shave plate and the ground can be adjusted.

  1. Move the runners further up on the rotor housing for a thinner level of remaining snow cover.

To move the runners, undo the four flange lock nuts and the screws.

  1. Move the runners to the position required.

  2. Make sure that the underside of the runners rests on the ground along the whole of their length, to avoid the runners wearing unevenly.

  3. Make sure the bolted joints are properly tightened.

Filling petrol and oil

Fill oil and petrol.

There may be a plastic cup in the fuel filler tube to protect the tank during manufacture. Remove and discard this cup. Screw on the filler cap after filling with fuel.

NOTE! Check that the rotor lever and the drive lever are in the disengaged position (upwards) before starting the engine.

  1. Insert the ignition key completely. Do NOT turn the ignition key. The engine cannot be started if the ignition key is not inserted.
  2. Move the throttle lever to the high revs position (hare symbol).
  3. Close the choke if the engine is cold. Open the choke if the engine is warm.
  4. If the engine is cold, block the ventilation hole and press the primer bulb 3-5 times. If the engine is warm, block the ventilation hole and press once. If it is cold you may need to press the primer bulb again.
  5. Pull the starter cord slowly until it catches and then pull quickly. Do not release the handle, but move it back slowly to its original position. Repeat, if necessary.
  6. Slowly move the choke lever to the open position when the engine becomes warm. If the engine stops, start it again and let it run for a short time with the choke half-open before you slowly move the choke to the open position.

NOTE! Always block the ventilation hole in the primer bulb when using it. If the temperature is below -9^ , you may need to press the primer bulb more times.

Electric start

WARNING! The electric starter device may only be connected to an earthed mains supply. Please read these instructions carefully before use.

  1. Carry out the first 4 steps.
  2. Connect the power cord to the switchbox on the engine and to a mains outlet.
  3. Press the start button on the switchbox to start the engine. Release the button immediately when the engine starts, otherwise the electric starter mechanism can be damaged. The electric starter has an overheating protection.
  4. Move the choke slowly to its open position when the engine warms up. If the engine stops, start it again and allow it to run a little with the choke half-open before slowly moving the choke to the open position.

Turning off the engine

  1. Move the throttle to the low speed position (tortoise symbol).
  2. Remove the ignition key to prevent accidental or unauthorised starting. Keep the key in a safe place. The engine cannot be started without the ignition key.
  3. Wipe all the controls on the engine dry.

Driving, belt drive

  1. Allow the engine to run at high speed and select a suitable gear for the prevailing conditions. There are 6 forward gears and 2 reverse gears.
  2. Press in the rotor lever to activate the rotor, release to stop the snow blowing function.
  3. Press in the drive lever to activate driving, release to stop.
  4. Never move the gear lever, but release the drive lever.

Activating the rotor

Press the rotor lever towards the handle to engage the rotor, then release to disengage.

Function check, rotor lever

IMPORTANT! Perform the following checks before the machine is used for the first time and before it is put into operation at the start of the season.

Check the rotor lever as instructed below.

  1. When you release the rotor lever in the disengaged, upper position there should be very little play on the wire, but it must not be tight.
  2. Start the engine in a well ventilated area in accordance with these instructions.
  3. Stand in the driving position behind the handle and engage the rotor.
  4. Let the rotor remain engaged for about 10 seconds and then release the rotor lever. Repeat several times.
  5. Allow the engine to run with the rotor lever disengaged. Go round to the front of the machine.
  6. Make sure that the rotor has come to a complete standstill and does not move at all.

IMPORTANT!

If the rotor moves at all, go back to the driving position immediately and stop the engine. Wait until all moving parts have come to a complete standstill and adjust the rotor wire as instructed below.

  1. Tip up the machine. Hold the cover firmly with one hand. Loosen the upper wire's upper bracket with your other hand.

  2. Remove the rubber cover, loosen the upper wire's lower bracket and insert it in the lower hole in the arm to tighten the wire. You can also loosen the lower wire's upper bracket and insert it in the upper hole in the arm to tighten the wire. Test drive. If the machine runs correctly, refit the rubber cover.

  6. Start the engine and check that the rotor engages and disengages correctly.

WARNING! Do not tighten the wire too tight, this can cause the rotor not to disengage properly, resulting in a risk of personal injury and/or damage to property.

Cleaning tool

The cleaning sits in a clip at the rear of the rotor housing. Follow the instructions below to clear snow that had become compacted in the ejector unit

  1. Place the rotor lever and the drive lever in the disengaged position.
  2. Stop the engine by moving the throttle control lever to STOP.
  3. Disconnect the cleaning tool from its clip.
  4. Clean out snow and ice using the cleaning tool.

WARNING! Never attempt to clean the ejector or the rotor housing with your hands. Use the cleaning tool or a stick.

Return the cleaning tool in the clip on the rotor housing and start the engine.

Stand in the driving position behind the handle and engage the rotor lever for a few seconds to throw out any snow and ice remaining in the ejector unit.

Practical tips

NOTE! Let the engine run for a few minutes. The engine does not produce full output until it reaches operating temperature.

WARNING! The muffler and surrounding parts can get very hot during use – risk of burn injuries.

  1. Remove the snow as soon as possible after snowfall for the best snow clearing results.
  2. If possible, aim the ejector in the direction of the wind.
  3. Slightly overlap each previous path.
  4. The runners are normally positioned 6–7 mm below the shave plate. If the snow is firmly packed, the runners can be raised so that the shave plate is lower to the ground. Lower the runners so that the shave plate is higher up, when driving on gravel or similar.
  5. Follow the instructions in the section about turning off the engine in order to prevent freezing.
  6. Clean the machine carefully after each use.

Changing the engine oil

NOTE! Check the oil level before each use and at intervals of 5 hours of operation. See the section on checking the oil level.

  1. Drain the fuel tank by running the engine until the fuel tank is empty. Check that the filler cap is properly tightened.
  2. Place a suitable container under the drain plug.
  3. Remove the drain plug.
  4. Tilt the engine to pour oil into the container. Used oil must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
  5. Replace the drain plug and tighten firmly.
  6. Fill using oil of the recommended grade to the indicated level.
  7. Put back the oil filler cap with the dipstick.

NOTE! Used oil must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Spark plug

WARNING! Do not check the spark with spark plug removed. Do not turn over the engine when the spark plug is not fitted.

WARNING! The muffler is hot when the engine has been running – risk of burns.

For good engine performance, the spark plug must be clean and have the right spark clearance.

  3. Remove the spark plug cap and unscrew the spark plug using a spark plug spanner.

  4. Inspect the spark plug. Discard the spark plug if it is visibly worn or if the insulator is cracked or broken. Clean the spark plug with a steel brush if it is to be used again.

  1. Electrode

• Measure the electrode gap with a feeler gauge. Correct the gap, if necessary, by gently bending the electrode. The gap should be 0.60 to 0.80 mm.
- Check that the sealing washer is in good condition. Unscrew the spark plug carefully by hand to avoid threading problems.
• Tighten the spark plug with a suitable spanner to compress the sealing washer.

NOTE! Tighten a new spark plug a 1/2 turn after it seats to compress the sealing washer. If refitting the same, used spark plug, tighten it 1/8–1/4 turn after it seats to compress the sealing washer.

IMPORTANT! Tighten the spark plug correctly. A loose spark plug can overheat and damage the engine.

Cleaning the engine

If the engine has been running, leave it to cool for at least 30 minutes before cleaning. Regularly remove debris that has accumulated on the engine.

WARNING! Avoid contact with moving parts during tasks that have to be performed while the engine is running. Avoid contact with the muffler, engine or other hot surfaces.

Storage

If the engine is not going to be used for at least 30 days, the fuel system should be drained to prevent deposits forming in the fuel system.

  1. Drain the fuel tank by running the engine until it stops.
  2. Change the engine oil.
  3. Remove the spark plug and pour two tablespoons of fresh engine oil into the cylinder. Turn the engine a few times to distribute the oil and put back the spark plug.
  4. Clean the engine and the area around the muffler. Apply a thin film of oil on corrosion-prone areas.

- Store in a clean, dry, well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources such as a boiler, water heater, tumble drier and electric motors that could emit sparks, in order to avoid the risk of ignition of fuel vapours.

  • If possible, avoid storage areas with high humidity levels.
  • Store the engine on level ground. Tilting can cause fuel and/or oil to leak.

Gear linkage

Using a suitable grease, lubricate the gear linkage at least once a year or after every 25 hours of operation.

IMPORTANT! Keep rubber wheels and aluminium belt drive wheels free from grease and oil.

Control handle, ejector unit

Using suitable grease, lubricate the worm gear for setting the direction of the ejector.

Gearbox

The gearbox is lubricated at the factory and does not need to be checked.

Rotor shaft

Remove the shear screws from the rotor shaft at least once a year, spray lubricant into the shaft and lubricate the plastic rotor bearings.

Rotor bearings

Lubricate the rotor bearings and the side bearings in the frame with thin oil once a year.

Drive and gear mechanism

Lubricate at least once a year or after every 25 hours of operation. Remove the rear cover and lubricate all chains, sprockets, gear wheels, bearings, shafts and gear mechanisms at least once a year using engine oil or lubricating spray. Keep rubber wheels and aluminium belt drive wheels free from grease and oil.

IMPORTANT! Never replace the shear screws with anything other than identical shear screws from the manufacturer. Any damage incurred if other components are used is not covered by the warranty.

Shave plate and runners

The shave plate and runners wear and must be checked regularly and replaced if necessary.

To loosen the runners, remove the four flange lock nuts and the screws.

To undo the shave plate, remove the screws and the flange lock nuts holding the shave plate on the machine's casing.

Fit the new shave plate with all bolt heads on the inside of the casing. Tighten as firmly as possible.

Storage

WARNING! Never store the machine or fuel container near ignition sources such as a naked flame, water heater, tumble drier and electric motors that could emit sparks, in order to avoid the risk of ignition of fuel vapours.

WARNING! Let the engine cool and drain the fuel into a suitable container. Work outside, away from ignition sources. Allow the engine to cool. Store and handle petrol away from sparks, naked flames, heat and other ignition sources. Smoking prohibited! The fuel that remains in the engine in hot weather is broken down and can cause starting problems.

  1. Follow the instructions below if the machine is not going to be used for at least 30 days.
  2. Empty the carburettor and the fuel tank to prevent deposits forming, which can affect the function of the engine.
  3. Run the engine until the fuel tank is empty and the engine stops due to a shortage of fuel.
  4. Rub the machine with an oily cloth to prevent corrosion.
  5. Remove the spark plug and pour two tablespoons of engine oil into the cylinder through the spark plug hole. Cover the spark plug hole with a cloth and turn over the engine by pulling the starter cord several times to distribute the oil. Replace the spark plug.
  6. Follow the lubricating instructions in the maintenance section.
  7. Store the machine in a clean, dry place.

NOTE! Protect the machine against corrosion by applying thin oil, particularly on chains, springs, bearings and wires.
