Frequently Asked Questions - 78700 Power Craft

How do I change the blade on the Power Craft 78700 saw?
First, unplug the saw. Use the spindle lock to hold the blade, then loosen the arbor nut with the wrench provided. Remove the old blade and install the new one, ensuring the teeth face forward. Tighten the nut securely.
What is the maximum cutting depth of the Power Craft 78700?
The maximum cutting depth at 90° is 65 mm, and at 45° it is 45 mm.
Can I use the Power Craft 78700 to cut metal?
This saw is designed for wood and wood-based materials. For metal cutting, you would need a specialized blade and the saw may not have the necessary speed or power.
How do I adjust the bevel angle on the saw?
Loosen the bevel adjustment knob, tilt the base plate to the desired angle (0-45°), and retighten the knob. Check the angle with a protractor if needed.
Why does the saw blade stop suddenly during use?
This could be due to overload or a faulty safety switch. Ensure the extension cord is rated for the saw's power and that the blade is not jammed. If the problem persists, consult a professional.
How often should I replace the carbon brushes?
Carbon brushes should be checked every 50 hours of use or when you notice sparking. Replace them if they are worn down to less than 6 mm.
What type of lubricant should I use for the Power Craft 78700?
Use a light machine oil on the gear housing and moving parts. Avoid over-lubricating to prevent dust buildup.
Can I use a diamond blade for cutting ceramic tiles?
No, this saw is not designed for tile cutting. Using a diamond blade could damage the tool and create a safety hazard. Use a dedicated tile cutter.
How do I clean the saw after use?
Unplug the saw, remove the blade, and wipe the tool with a dry cloth. Use compressed air to blow dust from the motor vents. Do not use water or solvents.
What is the best way to store the Power Craft 78700?
Store in a dry place away from moisture. Keep the blade guard closed and lock the trigger. Use the blade cover if available.
