Frequently Asked Questions - VQ1420SWDC Cotech

How do I switch between dry and wet vacuuming?
For dry vacuuming, ensure the cartridge filter is installed and optionally a dust bag. For wet vacuuming, remove the cartridge filter and attach the foam filter. Never use the cartridge filter or dust bag for wet vacuuming.
Can I vacuum water with this vacuum?
Yes, but only with the foam filter attached. The float switch will automatically stop suction when the container is full to prevent motor damage.
What filters should I use for dry and wet vacuuming?
For dry vacuuming, use the cartridge filter (flat side facing motor). For wet vacuuming, replace it with the foam filter. A dust bag can be added for fine dust during dry vacuuming.
How do I clean the filters?
Unplug the vacuum. Remove the motor/top. For the cartridge filter, brush or shake debris outdoors, wash with mild detergent, rinse, and air-dry for 24 hours. For the foam filter, hand wash with mild detergent, rinse, and air-dry.
The motor doesn't start. What should I check?
Check if the power socket is live. If it is, the problem may be the switch, lead, or motor. Contact a qualified technician for repair. Also ensure the over-centre catch is properly closed.
How do I use the blow function?
Unscrew the silencer from the exhaust port. Attach the hose to the exhaust port. Connect the desired accessory. Turn the switch to position I to start blowing. Always wear a face mask and safety glasses.
What is the maximum power for the power tool socket?
The power tool socket can handle a maximum load of 1600 W. Do not exceed this to avoid damage.
How do I empty the container after wet vacuuming?
Unplug the vacuum. Open the drain cap at the bottom of the container to empty liquid. Clean and dry the container before storage. Always reattach the cap securely.
Can I vacuum ashes or flammable substances?
No. Never vacuum flammable substances, hot coals, ashes, or anything that could cause fire. This vacuum is not designed for such materials.
How should I store the vacuum?
Store the vacuum indoors in a dry area. Clean and dry the container, hose, and filters before storage. Coil the mains lead and hang accessories on the holder.

Precautionary measures for wet vacuuming

• Only use the foam filter when wet vacuuming.
- Make sure that the foam filter is clean and dry and secure it onto the filter basket before starting to vacuum any liquid.
- The safety cut-out float switch stops the vacuum from sucking when the water level in the container reaches a certain level, thus preventing water from entering the motor. The motor will race when the suction function has been stopped by the float. Switch the motor off and empty the container.
• Empty the container before it becomes totally full and clean it after use.
- Clean the foam filter when it looks clogged. Remove the filter and wash it by hand in water with a mild detergent, let it air-dry.
- Do not submerge the entire nozzle under the surface. Leave some space so that air can also pass through when vacuuming a large amount of liquid.
- Remember to reattach the filter before using the vacuum again. NEVER use the wet and dry vacuum without a filter.

6.3 Blow function
