Frequently Asked Questions - DF-AF1833C Cotech

How do I fill the water reservoir?
Unlock the water reservoir, pull out the drawer, and fill with cold water and ice or freezer blocks up to the maximum water level mark. Do not overfill. Slide the drawer back in and lock it.
How do I clean the filters?
Press the spring catches on the dust filter (A) to remove it, then remove the water filter (B). Vacuum the dust filter. Soak the water filter in warm soapy water, rinse, and refit in reverse order.
How do I set the timer?
Press the TIMER button on the control panel or remote repeatedly to select 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. The air cooler will automatically turn off after the set time.
What is Nature mode?
In Nature mode, the fan speed varies according to a fixed pattern based on the selected speed, alternating between off, low, medium, and high to simulate natural breezes.
What is Sleep mode?
Sleep mode follows the same pattern as Nature mode but reduces the speed at 30-minute intervals. For example, starting at high, it drops to medium after 30 min, then to low after another 30 min.
How do I use the remote control?
Insert a CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up. Point the remote at the IR receiver on the unit. Buttons correspond to those on the control panel.
Why does the unit beep continuously?
A continuous beep for 10 seconds indicates low water level. Refill the water reservoir. If the button sound is annoying, you can disable it by holding the horizontal and vertical louvre buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
How do I disable the button sound?
Hold the horizontal louvre (UP/DOWN) and vertical louvre oscillation (LEFT/RIGHT) buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. Repeat to re-enable.
What happens after a power cut?
The air cooler automatically goes to standby mode when power returns. Press the ON button to resume operation.
Can I use the cooler outdoors?
No, the air cooler is designed for indoor use only in a dry, clean environment. Using it outdoors could damage the unit and create safety hazards.

  1. [OFF] Switches the air cooler to standby mode which means that the air cooler is off but not disconnected from the electricity network. The air cooler can be completely disconnected from the electricity network by unplugging it from the wall socket.
  2. [COOLER] Switches the cooling and humidifying function on/off.
  3. [TIMER] Selects how long the air cooler is to be switched on: 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours. The air cooler will turn off automatically once the set time has passed.
  4. [LEFT/RIGHT] Oscillation of the vertical louvre on/off.
  5. [UP/DOWN] Adjusts the horizontal louvre.
  6. [MODE] Selects fan mode: normal, nature or sleep.

- Normal: constant fan speed

- Nature: In nature mode the fan speed will vary according to a fixed pattern and depending on the fan speed selected. The fan alternates between: off, low, medium and high.

If the high fan speed setting has been selected, the fan will follow the pattern shown in the diagram below:

- Sleep: the fan will follow the same pattern as in the nature mode but with the difference that it will reduce speed successively at 30-minute intervals.

  • If you select the sleep mode and the high fan speed, the fan will follow the pattern for high fan speed as shown above for 30 min, then change to the medium speed pattern for 30 min, then low speed pattern for 30 min.
  • If you select the sleep mode and the medium fan speed, the fan will follow the pattern for the medium fan speed as shown above for 30 min, then change to the low speed pattern for 30 min.
  • If you select the sleep mode and the low fan speed, the fan will follow the pattern for the low fan speed as shown above until it is switched off.

  • [ON/SPEED] On/fan speed setting

Operating instructions

Note: If the air cooler should fall over when it has water in the reservoir, there is a risk of it causing an electric shock and it must not be used.

Switch the air cooler on by pressing either [ ON/SPEED ] on the control panel or (*) on the remote control. The air cooler has the following default settings when it is switched on:

  • Fan mode - normal
  • Vertical louvre oscillation – off
  • Louvre opening - 127°
  • Cooling and humidification – off
  • Fan speed medium for 3 seconds, then low
  • Timer - off

These settings can be adjusted using the control panel or remote control as described above.

Filling the water reservoir

In order for the air cooler to be able to cool and humidify the air the water reservoir must be filled with cold water in addition to ice or freezer blocks. If the water reservoir is withdrawn when the air cooler is switched on, the air cooler will automatically switch off. When the water reservoir is replaced, the air cooler must be switched on again. The air cooler cannot be switched on if the water reservoir is not fitted correctly.

  1. Switch the air cooler off and unplug it from the wall socket.
  2. Unlock the water reservoir.

  3. Pull out the water reservoir drawer and fill it with water and ice or freezer blocks.

Note: Do not fill the reservoir above the maximum water level mark.

  1. Slide the water reservoir back in and lock it in place.

Note:

The air cooler will emit an audible signal for 10 seconds if the water level drops too low.

Button sound and warning signal on/off

Hold in the buttons for setting the horizontal louvre and vertical louvre oscillation simultaneously for 3 seconds to switch the sound off. Hold the button in again to switch the sound back on again.

Continuous operation

The air cooler will operate for 15 hours and then switch off automatically. The continuous operation function can be disabled so that the air cooler operates until it is switched off manually by holding in the vertical louvre oscillation on/off button and the timer setting button simultaneously for 3 seconds. Pressing the buttons again will enable the function again.

In the event of a power cut

The air cooler is automatically set to standby mode when the power comes back on after a power cut.

Care and maintenance

- Always unplug the mains lead from the wall socket before cleaning the cooler or filling the water reservoir.

  • Clean the exterior of the air cooler using a lightly moistened cloth. Use only mild cleaning agents, never solvents or corrosive chemicals.
  • Always unplug the air cooler and make sure that the water reservoir is clean and dry before storing the cooler in a dry, dust-free environment out of children's reach whenever it is not to be used for an extended period.

Cleaning the filters

  1. Press down the spring catches on the dust filter (A) and remove it.
  2. Remove the water filter (B).
  3. Vacuum clean the dust filter.
  4. Soak the water filter in warm soapy water for a short while. Rinse the filter in clean water. Refit the filters in reversed order.
  5. The filter in the water reservoir can be rinsed with warm water if necessary.
